The loss of Hollywood brown is bigger than anyone is talking about. The offense was going to be a 1-2 combo of Rice and Hollywood and a huge offensive piece was removed first play of preseason.

I think too, what people fail to talk about is the salary cap effect on a team like this. Had to shore up the defense. Naturally, the offense will suffer.

We are hurt. Missing 2 big offensive weapons and the OL isn’t giving Mahomes time. We also tend to not like to put out good tape material so early in the season. Kelce is being protected for later season production and we also have a very young team. It’s gonna click when it counts. ❤
Every team has injuries the chiefs don't get excuses. Also when you play KC you have to beat the refs too.

I also think Chiefs are content to use the run game to soften the defense while Brown is out, Xavier is learning how to run NFL routes (some rough looking route running yesterday), and Travis ramps up his body. The run game, even with Pacheco, is fine. Not good enough to pull the safeties up.
Mahomes more willing to take downfield chances this year (the good) but the receivers aren't quite good enough to consistently win tightly contested throws (the bad). So he makes mistakes early trying to stretch the field, then retreats to throwing underneath when possessions start to become limited.
Also, Cheifs need to address scoring TDs inside 30 ... they consistently move the ball down the field, but end drives kicking field goals half the time, again losing drives on running the ball instead of giving it to Mahomes.
Just my observations.
The Chiefs NEVER put teams away. It’s like they have to keep the game close to stay interested. It’s maddening as a fan.
Almost like they’re not demonstrably better than other teams and get handed their wins by the officials in the 4th quarter to prop up an artificial dynasty

We forget the fact that Reid calls plays conservatively when the chiefs are in the lead. When the chiefs didn’t have a defense, Mahomes was always airing it out because they were always behind. Now they don’t need to score 40 to win. The Chiefs feel like a team that plays down to their competition.
If Hollywood Brown wasn’t hurt the offense would look super explosive. Teams would have to choose who to double between, Brown, Rice, worthy and Kelce, teams would be getting smoked. But unfortunately. The brown injury really had a major impact on the offense. Kelce is always covered the rookie worthy is fast but has to improve his route running so everything falls on rice. But the Champs will only Improve as the season goes on.
And the running game has been consistent. Teams understand that they're going to have to deal with that and won't be able to pull the whole shell coverave, safeties over the top strategy every game on every snap. Mahomes and the Chiefs offense lead to a shift in defensive schemes in the NFL. Assuming we eventually have everybody healthy at the same time though, teams are going to be forced into picking their poison and that may be a difficult position indeed.
People need to just accept that the regular season is the preseason for the Chiefs. They’re just playing around and figuring things out. Swapping LTs, getting new guys acclimated while other guys heal. Figuring out if they need to make any trades. Testing plays. The real deal won’t be unleashed until the playoffs start.
I got freaked out last night when Rice went down (got the wind knocked out of him). That really would have been bad.
...and when Mahomes tripped and twisted his knee at the end of the game.

Mahomes is not the HC of the Chiefs..Mahomes runs what Andy Reid calls.. Never think Mahomes couldn't throw for 400 yds and 4 TD's if he is given the chance. Reid has decided this is the type of football they're going to play. Mahomes just following orders.
The Chiefs are playing down to the competition
They are playing with their food.
The concerns should be for the other teams. When they watch the Chiefs play ugly games and still win, knowing they’re gonna get better when it matters most should worry them.
Kelce's getting old, Pacheco / Brown are injured, Worthy is still new, Rice is the only catcher that's consistent. What can Mahomes do to improve his stats? There's not one to consistently catch the ball.
Their defense doesn’t get enough credit. They adapt like no other team.
Their dynastic era is entering its seventh season. The nfl is a pendulum because of the cap and a team goes through a lot of changes in that amount of time. They started with a crazy offense, but had to sacrifice that to shore up their defense and here’s where we are now. But Mahomes, is still great, the defense is great, the coaching is great. Im not worried.

The 2 High Safeties defense has really hampered offenses league-wide.

I don’t think the Chiefs have an offensive idea and creativity issue. It would be nice if they could add someone more dynamic with Brown out. Their running game is still more than serviceable. I think you guys are being a little too harsh on their offense tonight particularly. The Falcons have arguably the best safety duo in the league and I think that played apart in the offense/ play calling tonight.

@@markb3786 I saw Naggy calling plays last night...ones that weren't good. We have nothing in the red zone anymore.
I think a piece that is being missed is the KC playbook. Same thing as last year we leave it very simple throughout the year and then when playoffs come around, we open up a little bit. It’s very hard to prepare in the playoffs. If you don’t know, all the players are gonna run.
On top of that, I would be willing to bet that we got into a tight spot on our schedule and started dropping losses. I bet you see the offense wake up and start calling on some of those more complex plays that you see in the playoffs.
The close wins and tight play are a hallmark of Reid’s magic. They have kept the playbook closed and stuck to vanilla football in the regular season. They are able to win without doing much. Wait until January and you will see why this dynasty will continue until Reid and Mahomes are gone.
The Chiefs still have a wr that has 100+ yards in 2 out of 3 games! I think their offense is better than these two guys are describing. Back to back super long drives to open the game .....I think they are in the early stage of figuring things out.....go chiefs

Mahomes is rock solid. Good or bad, he makes smart decisions. Teams suffer because they can't always rely on their QB. Mahomes' football intelligence is a major factor in his abilities and success. (In combo with a great ball club, recruiting, and HOF coaching).

@@ElectronFieldPulse Bienemy did call plays. Have you ever watched Mic'd Up? You can see he called some of the biggest plays of our superbowl wins. Andy does call some, but the offensive coordinator needs to do some work--which is why Naggy sucks. Andy can't do everything because he has to manage the time for offense and defense. Naggy needs to be good at his job, and he's not.
No one is mentioning that the regular season means nothing to them. Their season starts in the playoffs.
As a Chiefs fan, I have to call it how I see it. Mahomes is playing sucky football! He is the problem. We can’t keep making excuses for him, we have to hold him accountable! If he’s the best, like I believe he is, he has to play like it! Plain and simple

Our offense really has no excuse and a lot of it is on Mahomes. yes we have some guys injured but Patty is not going through his reads well and he is missing guys on 1st and 2nd downs. I feel he is reverting back to looking for the big play too much because he knows the guys he has on offense right now instead of taking things underneath. he is not good fundamentally right now. Other than him its a combo of us playing some good defenses in the ravens and bengals, teams doubling kelce every play, and still figuring the offense out with new guys pugged in. We will find out footing though and one of these teams in the next 3 or 4 games will be in for a terror

I think losing EB is starting to become an issue. Nagy doing a not so great job got kind of shielded by the recievers dropping everything that came their way last season.
Love the Chiefs but Mahomes is averaging a turnover every game now. Not just this year but all last year to. And some have been real bad. If he can get it cleaned up and get Xavier Worthy caught up in the offense he can become that old Mahomes again

I'm tired of these shows where they don't talk about the problems on the team but instead they say; what's going on? Why this? Why that? First, the O-line is terrible. Mahomes is getting pressured into sloppy passes or interceptions. TE's and RB's are having to help block because of our O-lines weaknesses. The Defense is good but the secondary needs to improve because they're moving the ball way too easily in the beginning of these games.

@@martinwalker4320 His rookie season he had 61 catches for 600 yards. He averaged 79 catches a year for the 6 seasons he was with the Chiefs. And actually, I am not sure what your point is. Worthy will never be a WR1 with the Chiefs. He is just not that type of a receiver. But Andy will work him in to a role he is built for to help the offense.
I used to love KC because they were so exciting and entertaining. Just jot the same now.

EVERYBODY wants another season like their first 2 with Mahomes. Nobody could hardly deal with that talent at QB. We are learning several things, a few were mentioned.
1) Teams study and copy what the Chiefs do Offensively
2) Which also means that since the Defense practices against that, you help build your own gallows as an opposing team
3) Chiefs have learned patience. During the game as well as thru the Season. They won't let it all hang out every game because that will tip their hand. Notice that there's always a few Dynamite plays to right the ship, then it's just control the clock and get the stops.
4) The shell game of which player will get the touches in which game. Kelce is a target for good reason and is doubled most times. He was open last night several times. That gotta leave Defensive Co-ordinators and film gatherers scratching their heads.
5) Chiefs are missing some key people and have other weapons in the wings getting brought up to speed. Here's something else not yet seen on film.
It's a progression that the other teams can't keep pace with or have yet to figure out. Andy has years and years of designing plays that have yet to be utilized.
They can be beat, but usually beat themselves. Right now, it seems every team slated to play them brings their best. Divisional teams are on the Horizon. Gonna be interesting to see how these games go. The Donkeys and the Honkys each beat them once last Season. I don't see their situations as any better this Season.
The chiefs 1000% play with their food. Im a Chiefs fan, and its absolutely mind numbingly annoying, to watch them ALWAYS play a B, or B minus level game, have it come down to the wire every week, but pull it out at the end .. they simply know HOW to win, better than all other teams

Football 101 99% of the time: Take the points! What bit the Eagles last week by not kicking the FG early came back to bite us last night. No kicking the FG tells me that the coaches do not have confidence in this team. Week one the OC lost us the game. Now last night the HC cost us the game.

I'm not saying this is the answer, but who isn't there anymore ? Could the missing pieces be Eric Bieniemy, DeMarcus Robinson, Sammy Watkins? Mecole Hardman as the 4th or 5th option used to get 500 yards and 5 or 6 TDs.
Last two drives chiefs receiver let mahomes down. Kelce has the ball knocked out on third down. Next drive Worthy stops running on third down, incomplete pass. I still think the chiefs offense is really good. They were super close to putting up 30+ points last night
It’s about the refs not seeing clear passer Barrett if the player has a red helmet on his head.
I think Mahomes and Reid have come to agreement to not be the greatest show turf. Reason being, score too fast impacts their defense where they won't have enough rest. They both realize they have a good defense

Steelers have the best defense
They are not the best defense this year, not even close. They give up the 6th most yards per game so far. They are 13th in yards on offense. All leads me to say again, luckiest team so far this year bc the numbers don’t reflect 3-0.
Only stat that truly matters is how many points they score and how many points allow. Last 2 seasons they’ve been the best. Defense wins championships. Cry some more.

The PI that the Bengals committed was lucky for the Chiefs. The toe on the line was a great play forced out by Bolton. And the fourth down tackle last night made by Bolton was also great play. So other than the one play, where you coming up with luck?

problem is noone on any team should be recognized more than any other. Patrick Mahomes does not do anything by himself. It's a team sport not an individual attainment. If this defense had no upheld their part IT IS NOT A WIN...Patrick Mahomes did nothing heroic in this game . YES... Kyle Pitts was taken down in the endzone as was said. That should have been first and goal to go. The referees gave this game to Mahomes and team.. Also the facemask was not called while the receiver (McCloud) is running sown the sideline infront of the referee "no call" again. The referees no calls costs the Falcons this game.. Not to say never was a holding call ever called for all the holding the offensive line did on the Falcons defensive linemen. The ref's granted Mahomes a win ! simply said...

Yeah, the chiefs found a way, a way for the refs to not call a blatant pass interference in the end zone that wrongly decided the game.😂
