So funny rewatching this on the 5th of May 2022 and at 20:47 hearing "might need to come back another year on a bigger pony that's less spooky". So incredibly well deserved that you just came third on Jam, cannot even believe the amount of work you have put in since going to Badminton the first time. Can't think of anyone more deserving of this success!!
Stop been so negative you did amazing badminton not a easily place but your memory are worth more bear was amazing and so was u you got years to crack it chin up keep your spirits up xx
@@ngc4486diane that's what I thought. What was the horn in dressage and the whistle before she tripped. I definitely think the whistle threw her off. I startled and I wasn't even there.
I actually cried after your dressage. Bear is my favourite pony ever. Don’t beat yourself up because we all have those days. You will tackle badminton again!
Felt so nervous for you when walking the course... VERY technical and massive for a 90!! Well done to you and Bear, don’t put yourself down about the fall it happens to even the top riders xx Your an inspiration to me and many others
Rewatching this in August 2023 after you took two ponies to badminton.. and '22 when you came 3rd. such a journey in many areas... also how did you even think of doing Badminton in the year of your finals?? amazing
Rewatched this after Badders 2022! Meg what a long way you have come, not only with Jam, but with your vlogging style and following! It’s crazy how much can happen in just three years!! Congrats Meg!!
I ride 4* (old 3*) and I still do stupid stuff like this it’s totally just learning to trust yourself and your pony to keep riding up to jumps like that! It’s seriously hard though cross country is terrifying and hindsight is an amazing thing! Well done though go out and win it next year ☺️🎉
Just watched this. I’m the age of your mum and just starting BE 90 in 2020, or not.....ahem! But just wanted to praise your natural and very watchable broadcasting ability, your humility, your strong seat ( much better than me, ha,) and your wonderful mum. ( And dad too). Just keep going. And very good luck. X
Watching this after you just went to badminton with Jam in 2022 and wow! Everything you kept saying about wanting to come back and getting a rosette came true! Really made me emotional watching this back after seeing your results. You smashed it 🎉🎉
Blooming well done. You got there, and you got to ride in all three phases. Bear looked tiny compared to the other horses there! I had to giggle at your commentary ‘I then decided to dismount’ 😂 Bless you I have absolutely no doubt you will be back again :) and what a wonderful story you have to tell about your experience this year. I loved all the kind things you could hear other spectators saying as well. So lovely to hear kindness and support like that for you ❤️
Well done.amazing to get there, great in dressage, bad luck in jumping. Another day will be better. I love your channel. Guess not your normal demographic as am in my 60s. You and your mum remind me of my daughter and I when she was a teenager. Packing up the truck and heading off all over the country. Remember to thank your Dad as well
What a good ride before that tho! You handle her so well!!! Unfortunate about the fall but that’s horses for you 🤦♀️🤦♀️ was amazing to be along for the experience! Thank you for vlogging it!
I absolutely love your vlogs! I’m a very recent subscriber, just finding you with your badminton prep vlog. As a fellow pony appreciator I love that you ride and compete ponies when most girls your age would have ‘moved on’ to horses. Personally I never really saw the appeal in that and at 41 am still very much a pony girl! (My boy is 14hh) Huge congratulations on getting to badminton, acing your Dressage (which I thought looked beautiful!) storming round the showjumping and riding your (Nobel outfitters?!) socks off on the cross country! And massive well done on your dissertation Mark!
Weirdly, I had this exact same fall at my first event with my new girl! Although, it was the first time anyone had ever fallen off her and she crapped her pants and ran off around Somerford Park!! At the end of the day, shit happens, and it's an opportunity to learn from your mistakes and you can boss it next time! Well done, you both looked great!
Such a shame, you did a beautiful test and bloody hell can she jump! Don’t put yourself down about it, you’re very lucky to have got there and to have done so well xx
Was so hardcore jealous when you were walking the course. Desperately wished I had the opportunity to ride that course. Confess that my horse is a 16.2hh behemoth. A course walk with Yogi. So jealous it's painful. Pity about the fall.
well done! its an achievement in itself even having the guts to go to badminton, you and your pony did so well for it being both your first times at badminton:)
What an amazing experience, thank you for taking us with you! And for showing your true feelings just after your fall and a few days following when you've had a chance to recoup your emotions. Horses are definitely good at teaching you dreams can become reality, but they do make you work for them haha - you'll be back there one day I'm sure
loved watching this vlog, you and bear did so well with your dressage and she was so well behaved! It was all a learning curve and it was your first time there and you guys did very well! I would be so nervous I would see the entrance and turn around and drive home, I'm pretty sure my mare would not have behaved half as well as Bear did either! Well done Team Elphick can't wait to see what else you guys get up to!
You'll get to badminton again! future winner right there. Keep hope, you are so inspirational and brave. I wish I could have your confidence! You have inspired me to get my butt into gear and go and do my first ever BE 80, so thank you!
I’m looking forward to viewing this. A bit anxious waiting for the fall, which is weird because you are obviously ok. But, falls, yep. We were at the cross country on Saturday. You’ve got more nerve than me
I'm re-watching this in 2022 waiting for your vlog about you and Deedee at Badminton again this week. I can see how much you have grown as a rider and hope it has gone well for you and you complete the xc this time. 🤞❤️
Great video! I love how long your videos are because they really do show as a lot of aspects of a show, not just a perfect round, you show us the good and the bad, and everything in preparation like walking the course!
Loving your channel you should be so proud 👌well done keep the Vlogs coming your ponys are amazing 🤩so happy I found your channel saying hi from South Africa 🇿🇦
I've never watched you before, but as a dressage rider myself I think your test went super! You're so hard on yourself, she has three lovely paces, stayed in a pleasant frame and looked obedient. The judges obviously agreed with me! Just because you didn't do the best you've ever done, doesn't mean that what you did wasn't great. Good work xxx
How lovely to hear such honesty- It is so much more enjoyable and entertaining to hear someone with so much talent being up front about things when they don't go to plan. Super to watch - good luck to you .. also loved that your lovely pony was so well looked after and understood - you and your Mum are a super team.
I know this is old but I recommend a book. It’s called One Dollar Horse and it’s about a girl who rescued a horse from slaughter and trained him to go to badminton horse trails it’s a really good book
I had just seen you post on your Facebook about how you came 3rd in Badminton 2022 with Jammy!!!! you did so well. can't wait for your vlog to come out😁😁 You have helped me so much with my riding and have inspired me to get out eventing!!! ❤xx

You guys did awesome and this vlog was so much fun seeing the highs and the lows (waking up early on competition morning shot was so relateable!) So pumped to follow you to your next badminton!!
It must be amazing just to have ridden at Badminton. I wish I had a pony like Bear, she reminds me so much of my old pony (same breed), and so funny to hear you guys calling her a welsh dragon, because that's what I called mine as well. I do understand if you sell her, if you want to get something bigger, but I will miss her so I hope you don't.

Oh gosh those fences are scary imagining your little pony going over them. I have a mare the same color and height as Bear (built like a draft though) I can't imagine getting over anything like that.
Edit for an update! Who'd have known that a year on from the above comment and nearly two from Badminton 2020 that young Bear would be pregnant to one of Lucinda's stallions - the brilliant son of her awesome mare - Hedley (sp?) Britannia!) AND - that Badminton 2021 didn't happen because the bloomin' pandemic would still be lurking around EVERY dam corner! Grrr! (Incidentally/btw - my childhood (late 70's to mid 80's) friend - Joan - nee Reynolds - (well she was her older sister Sheila's first) - Linden Farm, here in North Wales, had an amazing dun mare called Shadow who could jump over the moon too! I can't help but wonder if they are related in some way. Well, Badminton 2022 is happening - and YOU, young Meg will be there with the equally awesome JamJam! Lucinda loves her and so do I - especially now I know she has some Irish Draught in her! You and DeeDee (I love her feistiness and ability to gallop like crazy, with the equally crazy Ellie Fredricks and her speedy pony) will have to try again for 2023! I reckon you should try her with Polo/Polo-Cross though. I'll be there to watch you but I can't find out - from anywhere - if I get a 'free' pass with my Badminton (Wednesday to Sunday) season ticket/s?! I booked in a bit too late to get in on the campsite - what an IDIOT!!)

I have not had horses since I was a kid in the 70's in So. California , U.S.A. , but I still love them (That is why your page caught my eye ) , and I can tell you , that was a great job for your first time , that pony is a natural jumper and what I can see is you doubting yourself too much , you really are a great rider and experience will make a big difference . I Drag Race cars here in the U.S. just for fun , when I feel like it , but my first time , wow , back in 1978 , I was so nervous of making a mistake and people watching me , (Not near as bad as a video blog of it all !) that I could barely push the brakes to get the car ready on the starting line to take off , my legs were shaking so hard I didn't think I could do it , but once I made the first run I calmed down . After about 5 runs I was as calm as could be and blocked out anything but what I was supposed to do . I have seen people so nervous they start out in reverse and nearly hit the car that is waiting to run behind them . You have a great pony and you are a great rider , you got this ! ! You have a new subscriber !

Just beautiful to see a mom and daughter relationship that works..as best friends...
