DIY Routed MDF 2 Way Bookshelf Speakers

- Finally had the time to upload the long overdue DIY project. The "DIY MDF Table Saw" was put into action cutting 3/4" MDF board. Another DIY tool that was put into action was the D"IY Palm Router Circle Cutting Jig for Cutting Small Holes".
Components in this project:
- 6.5" Magnum by Electone Philippines 8 Ohm 80w Hi-fi Woofers
- 3" Kevler Professional GT-100 8 Ohm 100w Tweeters
- Crown CN-2500 600w 2 way Crossover/Dividing Network
- 6" x 2" plastic port tubes
- Speaker terminals
Palm router really did a very good job in cutting the holes no sweat. Wouldn't do any projects cutting holes without it. Edge rounding was also a breeze using the DCA palm router.
Sheet sander also did helped a lot in sanding from grit 80, 120, and 240 sandpapers.
The First plan was to paint the enclosures using an automotive paint but would require enormous amount of lacquer thinner to thin the sticky, volatile automotive lacquer paint. So I ended up purchasing a liter of premium acrylic latex paint for home use. It was a quick job painting latex with a foam roller. Had so much fun painting.
Church the French Bulldog and Wiki the Belgian Malinois-Pitbull mix also really did a lot of helping too, really. Amazing. ^_^ - Навчання та стиль
Thanks.nice box.
Thanks very much! Damn, I can't believe high calibre electronics channels would visit my videos!
@@chrclmnky yes he does. I have seen him several times in the comments section of many other channels. 😅😅. He is nice. 😊
Bro it is studio monitor speaker???
Very nice.. 👍
Thanks mate.
I had the same harbor freight router ! It lasted me 10 years before it finally took a shit. Used it few times a month for its entire life. Your build came out nice as hell👍🏻

Nice video🥰
I am also a wooden speaker maker, watching the speaker DIY process is a kind of enjoyment.
Thanks 🥳
Box size is 10" x 8.5" x 13" outside dimensions. 😊☺😉
Buen trabajo.buen video
Thank you Rodrigo.
length is how many centimeters, and width is how many centimete
What is the size of the bass speakers?
Hello Thanh, woofer is 6.5"
, you should have put some self stick insulation on the interior walls of the speaker box to prevent box reverberations and to help keep the bass from being to muddy.
I think there's no need since the enclosure is made of dense MDF. Acoustic lining is needed on plywood boxes because plywood are "springy" than MDF.
Thank your for watching and feedback, Tim. I appreciate it much.
Great speaker build. Thanks for the great video.
Yes sir.
Thank you so much for showing router bits used to make those circles 👌👌👌
👍
Very nice
Thanks for the comment, Skull Rabbit 😉 😊
Nice DIY project. You should be proud of your work. Congratulations!! I have only just one question. Why you did not add some damping material inside?
Hi Pablo, thank you for the positive feedback.
I didn't put any dampening material because the MDF is dense enough to hold any reverberations.
CHRCLMNKY as far as I understand the purpose of dampening material is to kill as much as possible stationary waves inside the enclosure, that finally will get out through the port as distorted sound. Anyway is a matter of taste. If you are happy with the way it sounds, this is the most important thing.
I was wondering the same thing. Self adhesive closed cell foam is very good. I find it improves the bass tone and stereo imaging quite a bit , cheap too 😄
Like all your DIY tools and enjoyed the video. The speakers turned out nice 👍
@@chrisvinicombe9947 Thanks. 😊☺😆
@@pabloosvaldopenizzotto1098 Sorry typo, "MDF is dense enough to kill any reverberations." 😂😁
Very cool build, thanks for sharing!
Thank you.

Thank you Jean Paul. 😊
Nice work on the video! Great speaker project!
Thank you Hi-Fi Haven. 😄😊
Amazing keep up the good work thanks for your videos
Thank you John for such nice feedback.
No sound damping in the box, insulation of speaker cabinets?
Hello linkingaj, the MDF is dense enough to kill any reverberations so polyfill fiber and such is not needed and just a waste of money.
Put some old pillow guts in and see if it makes a difference!
@@chrclmnky the answer is a joke. MDF is not enough.
Bass căng

Thanks Moorti.
Nowadays owning a near field 2way speakers, it is cheaper to buy than to build them yourself, the current crop of commercial 2 way near field speakers are very good with in-built amps thrown in free. Then you will say it is fun to build yourself.
