    I am a PHD client and have dropped 47 pounds so far with 13 more to goal. I enjoy what I'm eating, and I am never hungry. However, I still have triggers and temptations, and when they come, I've felt discouraged. So, it helped me to hear that triggers are normal!

      They are so normal, and a part of the process! I wonder if it might help to flip the script: Instead of discouraged working to feel empowered by them since you have the choice to overcome. It's not easy, but very much worth the work that it takes! You've got this!

    First time here, I was anticipating warnings about red meat, saturated fat and cholesterol aswell as promotion of fiber and legumes. Didn't happen, so you're ok in my book, Dr Ashley.

    I am not doing this for weight loss. I am at goal weight already, but I have had almost 2 months of mucus, terrible, mucus and coughing. I didn’t know what else to try and I was laying in bed watching UA-cam and you came on along with this other doctor, a guy And I thought to myself I have nothing to lose. This is my second day and the mucus has receded dramatically. The coughing stopped probably by 75%. I do have the diarrhea but you warned me I would for a short period I also listen to Joe Rogan about This food program I never thought carnivore could do this with so many people out there trying to take beef away from us and trying to shove artificial beef down our throat. It’s scary all the things they say are healthy for you really or not these crooks are just making money. Thank you so much for fighting for us 💕

    I've watched many of your videos and have learned so much, even though I've been watching weight loss/nutrition videos for over 5 years! I finally subscribed today! This was another great video that I learned something in, specifically your perspective on willpower, your trigger food, and how your metabolism can be skewed. I've been trying to lose the same 10 lbs for over a year. I'm 53 yo, and IF worked in the past 5 yrs, although I had to keep shortening my eating window and doing my full fasting days to see results. I've been eating all day (4-5 meals) for the last 3 months, focusing on making sure I get 120 g protein daily. I exercise when I can. I'm still not seeing results b/c when I lose a few lbs. I end up gaining them back through celebratory meals (anniversary, mothers Day, grandson's 1st bday, etc.). Learning what works for my body at this season of life is a challenge!

    Thank you Dr. Ashley. One myth that I keep hearing is just eat more vegetables. At one point 5 years ago I was eating 3 salads a day for over a year and nothing happened. Stayed around 250-255 lbs.

    This is excellent! You might want to add to this list: post menopausal women have a hugely harder time losing weight. I am 61 year old, and by following many of your guidelines I have lost 11 pounds in about two months. My main change was really focusing on protein as well as lifting weights. I was eating all wrong, actually mostly vegetables and eating way too little, actually. With this weight loss I am so much more motivated, sleeping better, hip aches gone-and positivity boost about continuing on.
    Also, the whole thing about insulin. I’m a type 1 diabetic on top of this and must take insulin to survive. I found that stress was major during menopause…and imo was the main reason I gained 50+ lbs. I kept eating less (and fasted a lot!). Felt horrible. Weight stalled and/or kept creeping up! My insulin needs have gone down tho! Thx for your info!

      @drashleylucas  10 місяців тому +1

      You can actually get all you need from the animal when you include meat, organs, bones, etc.

    Dr Ashley, I Love your videos. I signed up with PHD Weight Loss and lost my 15 pounds in 8 weeks. I am very short so 15 pounds on me was ALOT! Your program of teaching people how to eat, when to eat and what to eat works! Your videos help me so much. I am in maintenance and have been for 3 1/2 months and have kept my weight off. Even going on 2 vacations, making it through Thanksgiving! It is amazing! I can not thank you enough!

    I watched your interview of Dr Ken Berry. He seemed to speak toward a Ketogenic diet (TOTAL carbs below 20gr per day), a Ketovore diet (TOTAL carbs below 10gr per day) and Carnivore (close to zero carb). I felt like the two of you were on the same page. Did I miss read your agreement?

    • @drashleylucas
      @drashleylucas  10 місяців тому +1

      I see many folks thrive off of a very low carb/carnivore diet. I also see folks who seem to do well with a bit more. I believe we have varying tolerance levels for carbs, but in general these levels are significantly lower than what we are told. I agree with what Dr Berry shares while also appreciate metabolic flexibility which can only be created through teaching the body how to burn fat for fuel.

    I never considered that you can use up will power. So many truths packed into this one episode. Because of you 20lbs came off. Do thermogenics like grains of paradise cause more hunger? I’m delving into the world of supplements for support

    • @drashleylucas
      @drashleylucas  10 місяців тому

      I'm glad this was helpful to you! And congratulations on your weight loss- I love to hear that! Whether thermogenics like grains of paradise cause more hunger or appetite suppression can vary from person to person and depend on various factors. Some studies have suggested that thermogenics may have appetite-suppressing effects, while others have shown no significant impact on hunger levels. These supplements may have potential side effects and interactions with other medications, and their safety and efficacy may not be fully understood, so I generally don't recommend them and don't find them necessary for successful weight loss. I hope this helps you!

    Dr Ashley, I am not an expert on nutrition or ballet, but in my opinion it is every bit as dangerous in an extremely demanding sport like ballet to eat too little as it is to eat too much. I say this because in a very demanding sport, you need energy to perform tasks. And ballet has many demanding tasks. And you were advised to eat very little fat, therefore you omitted a major macro nutrient in you diet. Therefore, it would be very difficult for you to perform to your potential. Dr. Ashley, your story sounds somewhat familiar with Dr. Tim Noakes. You couldn't continue in ballet because of injuries. He had problems because he hit the wall and he had severe insulin resistance.

    • @drashleylucas

    Not a myth: You lose weight at the dinner table by eating a PHD and gain muscle in the gym.
