    Great video! I have a question, though. It looks like you have the light green parking brake wire connected to one of the wires on the wiring harness. Does that mean that, in the Hyundai Tucson, an aftermarket radio will be able to detect whether the car is in park in order to give you access to certain functionalities that you wouldn't get while in drive, such as using the keyboard in a GPS navigation app, or would tapping into the car's parking brake wire still be required like in older cars? I ask this because the factory radio won't let you pair a new phone to Bluetooth unless the car is in park, so I would think there is an interface for that.

    I know this vid is kind of old at this point, but I've got a '13 Tucson, so it should be a good place to ask. That surface mount double USB connector you used to replace the OEM outlet that was there ... what did you plug into the back of that? The radio itself has a fairly long USB cable that comes out of its back and is used to connect the mobile phone into the head unit to provide both power from the phone to the new radio (mine is an Alpine whose model # I cant recall at the moment ... I think it's an ILX-650. So the way my set up is, is that the long cable coming out from the back winds its way down and out from the dashboard more or less from the bottom and just hangs there, then when I get in the car I just plug it into the C port on the phone and everything works great, except I've got that long wire that just looks crappy.
    It that USB connection connected to the wire I'm talking about, so that I'd just plug a shorter wire into it and then at the phone, and transfer power and data through it that way?
    Thanks. Sorry for long description there.

    Hi Thank you for the video. I plan to replace my radio with a JVC model using the same accessories as you. But I have a question about the steering wheel controller; if I do not use a steering wheel adaptor as you did will I loose just the radio functionality or the cruise control as well? Thanks again.

    • @ProvoBeastAudio

      Cruise control isn't connected to the adapter, thats separate. Heave over to sonic electronix and use their vehicle fit guide to see what options are best recommended for your setup. Use our coupon code to get 5% off at checkout.

    I can’t get the top plastic piece to sit flush with the Metra kit. There’s a gap in between the two pieces and I can see into the dash.

    • @philzale
      @philzale 3 роки тому

      I'e got that exactly same problem. Haven't found a solution that works to keep the top piece down AND keep the gap closed, and of course the top piece does keep popping back up. I hate it, but I've learned to live with it. (And believe me, I've tried putting that top piece in from every angle I can get it worked into; it just doesn't want to mesh in nicely. I think the problem is in the Metra piece

    Great video. My Tuscon factory stereo's microphone for bluetooth hands-free does not work, although the Bluetooth functionality works. (plays from my iPhone X okay). • @mmontelaegre
      @mmontelaegre 5 років тому

      Oh I have a 2010 and I'm going through the exact same thing. The bad thing about our car is the amp in the trunk powers all the speakers. So the wires from your doors go to the trunk, they plug into the amp where the signal is digitized and sent to the factory radio. Unfortunately most after market radios can't do anything with this digitized signal. So you have two choices, both of them suck. You can buy an after market amp, replace the factory amp and have it power all 4 speakers and the factory sub. You then have to route new RCA cables (2 red, 2 white) up to the radio and just use that. Or you can buy an amp bypass, which is what I did. It's Metra 70-7305. The wires coming off these are too short, so you will need to splice in more wires and run your 8 speaker wires up to the back of the radio. This took me about 6 hours last night, I'm pretty slow with this shit. You then need to tap into the factory harness for the other 8 or so wires you will likely need (power, illumumination, etc). Send me an email and I can send you pictures of what all the factory wires are for, most of them are on the 8 pin connector. Oh by the way, you also need to replace all the factory speakers because they are 2ohm as they were powered by the amp and most after market radios expect 4ohm. Overall I'd say it's a god damned nightmare.

I also have to the RP4.2-HY11 to keep steering controls which work. Did I just plug in the yellow input into the wrong port from the PAC to the back of the stereo?
