- Tens of thousands of people have fled Ethiopia's Tigray region to live in camps in Sudan.
There has been heavy fighting in the area in the last couple of weeks affecting the lives of many.
Al Jazeera spoke to a university student who has had no other option but to leave home.

There is a proverb in Ethiopia that kind of translate as "A whip do the whipping as well as the screaming" . . . the Tigray special forces are the once who attacked, killed, wounded, robbed and does the most inhuman thing to the Ethiopian defense force members. Remember you are not the first nor the last people to become refugees. It was hard for many indeed.
My mother was refugee twice. She fled Heila Sillassie at age of 20 never seen her mother and siblings again, her elder brother was mardered by Heila Maryam rule. Their land, farms and livestock were confiscated. 46 years later she is the only surviving family member of 6. She however connected with half brothers sisters and their offsprings in Ethiopia, it was a promising moment to meet them. Covid-19 was the issue and the war is an added problem.
Despite fleeing from her country to Somalia to Kenya and ending up in US, she is not giving up to fly to Addis soon, August 2021 is her dream come true.
In fact many people have worse memories to recall. Remember again DON'T LOOSE HOPE.

War. Something Ethiopians have not asked for. At least we know who the winners and losers of any war are. The arms industry continues to grow, thrive and benefit from the suffering of those caught up in conflict while the ordinary and regular citizens are left displaced, hungry and homeless. I want Ethiopia that does diplomacy within and beyond. Living and growing up in Ethiopia, I’ve always seen a great deal of National pride in every Ethiopian and I do not believe that the Ethiopian national interest is in internal conflict that brings nothing to empower Ethiopians. It truly is painful for me to watch the ordinary suffer the consequences of war. I urge leadership at all level in Ethiopia to see this through with a mature diplomacy like they’ve always done. The tense geo-political atmosphere in the Horn of Africa is nothing new and for decades, we've seen Africans pay a great price for conflicts and consequences that it brings. We’ve witnessed modern day slavery and human rights abuses of Africans in Libya. Which till date remain an issue that only continues to unfold yet remain unresolved. Why and how can we allow to bring Ethiopia to a national conflict when we’ve seen enough to keep Africans out of conflict over issues that can be resolved through diplomacy and not the barrel of a gun. Ethiopia must change course and pursue a lasting peace among Ethiopians. Do the right thing Mr Abiy and seek to bring unity and understanding for the sake of your people, country and legacy.

I have travelled in tgray the country side .. most of the residents were elder ppl and farmers dressed in older cloths, that can't speak even amharic let alone English and Arabic..these young men should be investigated.. some of tplf members might fled along these poor refugees
However children and women which are most of the refugees must settle back and Ethiopians should cooperate to get them back on their normal life .. they're been through alot..

He is one of the Samrins who massacred ethnic Amharas at Maycadra that is confirmed by Amnesty International and Ethiopian Human Rights Commission. It was discovered that thousands of ethnic Amharas who was unarmed was killed by Tigrain youths who named themselves ‘Samrins’, Tigrain militia , and police forces. More mass graves are being discovered till now. Not to forget that TPLF forces attacked Ethiopian defence forces Northern command during the night while they were asleep. Many of the attackers were ethnic Tigrain members of the Ethiopian defence force who betrayed their friends and their country, for example an officer who is head of engineering section in a brigade murdered his colleagues who were in the same room with him in their deepest sleep, AWUFUL
yeah everyone in Ethiopia has no agriculture, that's why they took land from Amhara. I'm Ethiopian and really love all the tribes, but if you understand what the leaders of Tigray did you would support Abiy. This is all happening because the Tigray leaders lost control when Abiy came into power. For 30 years Tigray controlled every aspect of life from economics to politics and media that purposely made all the other tribes attack each other, fake news. TPLF the leaders of Tigray are crafty and wanted to make Ethiopia the next China. They even sent spies in the churches to catch anyone who talked bad about their dictatorship. Also, there were even spies in family households that reported to the government. The only tribe not suffering from their brutal dictatorship was the Tigray people. In short, TPLF must go and new representatives from that region must be created that's supports democracy and cares about Ethiopia as a united whole.
This guy speaks very good English and seems to be very educated. Most Ethiopians can’t even muster a few words in English let alone have the privilege to get university education. This guy like most Tigreyans seems to have benefitted from the TPLF in power. It’s important to remember the TPLF created a lot of refugees in the Horn of Africa due to their imperialist endeavors. Very sad situation for the Tigray people but their leadership committed gross human rights violations and even genocide in some regions in Ethiopia and in neighboring countries. Read the Amnesty International reports and Human Rights Watch how brutal the Tigreyan regime was in the past 30 years. They use to feed living humans to lions and bury people alive underground. What the Tigreyans are experiencing now is nothing compared to their deeds in the past 30 years. I feel for the Tigreyan people but I saw this story play out before with more deadlier consequences.
I really hate the ethnic division in Ethiopia. It is so stupid. But Ethiopians are no different than most humans. We are very tribal. We can easily find ways to separate each other and promote division. Respect to the Chinese and Indians for sustaining countries with dozens of ethnicities and populations of over a billion people and not resorting to civil war. Africa needs to learn your secret..
