Hongjoong and Seonghwa are the two oldest members of Ateez (the mat-hyungs) hence Matz, they coined the duo name themselves and have a close friendship. Hongjoong even wrote their song Thank U as a dedication to Seonghwa :)
Some background for the lyrics that non fans probably won't understand: Matz refers to Hongjoong and Seonghwa as the oldest member (98 born) in Korean Matz itself meaning 'oldest'. When they say crazy and noisy is a reference to what people say that Ateez performances and their music are. Seonghwa's line "But yes, oh my doctor said There's a lot of room left to grow" comes from the endoscopy wanteez episode. The Dr told Hwa that he has a large stomach but it also means that they are still hungry even with 5 years in and with all there accomplishments and they wanna grow more. Hongjoong's line "If you want to put a GPS, put it on a suitcase, not on a carnival, You can be busy too" is a references too 2021 where they found GPS trackers on their Kia Carvial. After that line Hongjoong raps how they need to get a life or they can put GPS rather in their luggage cause they are always travelling around the world so it's useless to put them on their cars. You can see this in the beginning of the MV when someone puts a tracker on the van which is a Kia Carnival. Hongjoong's line about "Numbers without sources don't mean a thing to me at all" this about a couple of months ago there were sasaeng "stalker" selling their personal information on line. Thank you for reacting to MATZ ! 🔥 To explain some lore behind the lyrics and mv, they are dissing a bit of everybody (general public hate comments, fake fans, stalkers, etc.). • Haters: you can hear it in the pre-chorus more specifically with the “they are so loud” “they make me dizzy” comments bc it’s something they constantly get criticized about • Fake fans + stalkers : There are multiple layers to it. - You got the shadow figures that follow them everywhere and kidnap them at the start. - Then, they are chained by time at the center of a stage with cameras constantly on their faces and shadow people around watching them through the screens - You also see them on stage and weirdly the shadow people are positioned around the stage (some even waving their symbolic pirate flag) and in a brief moment you can see some UNDER the stage, so probably referring to staff (kq or from other shows they appeared on, we’ll never know) too - Also, Hongjoong mention a gps that ‘they’ (he says ‘you’ in the lyrics) should have put directly on his suitcase, not on a carnival (name of a car). He is directly addressing the stalker that put a gps in their company car in 2021 and telling them to next time put it on his suitcase and follows it by “you can be busy too”. Probably to mock them with sarcasm. And since earlier in the 1st first, he said that they are constantly traveling, I hear it as “I’ll give you something to follow since you’re looking for something to do” 😂 Lastly, the song also has a lot of references to their late achievements but that it’s not over yet (cf.
