  • 2020 canoe trip with my puppies and Kathryn & Paul. We had a mix of wind, rain and beautiful sunshine.
Lac la Ronge is a glacial lake in the beautiful Canadian shield country of northern Saskatchewan. Our 10 day trip was an out and back from Wadin Bay. There are just 1300 islands to explore on this 1,414 sq kilometre lake. We kept to to northern shoreline where we paddled around many and explored a few.

Around 9pm. That’s the witching hour for the bugs, in some places, at certain times of the year ; )

Someone told me the loons on the ocean don’t make the same beautiful noise as the ones on lakes. So nice to hear that sound after so long ☺️

Okay this is 100% on my bucket list. Did you go to an outfitter? Im hoping its possible to go there with my own kayak and gear and find a place to leave my car while Im out there but cant seem to find any info? any tips ? - thanks for sharing. love the raw footage. Great job . newly subscribed :)

Thanks. No outfitter at all. I would highly recommend Lac la Ronge as a starting point for many years of adventures. The west side and northern shore line all around the lake offers 100's of islands to explore. Storage of vehicles can be done in Lac la Ronge however I usually choose a campsite at Wadin Bay and put up a little cheap tent (peg is down as it could get windy) as it is the most inexpensive option for parking. Choose a site that one can start to paddle from ; ). Gear should be waterproofed and always paddle close to shore and any crossing from island to island should be short/fast and not when it's windy, unless you are experienced. From Lac la Ronge you can venture up, 1 hour to Missinipe and the Churchill River system, and enjoy decades of exploring the lakes and rivers there. All the best on your adventures.

When you're in the boat during the day you just pull over to the shore. On shore you squat behind some trees.
