Cheryl also hated her hair texture that she preferred to wear wigs and hated her daughter wearing ethnic styles that embraced her blackness. Lastly at the end of the movie, Cheryl abandoned her family once again, showing that whenever major problems arise, she flees instead of handling her business. Now all of this is down right scary.

When I watch this movie I wasn't really surprised. I am a victim of being abandoned. Yet, everyday of my life is a fights. Few relatives especially my dad's sisters tried their best in raising me with their children, but they can never be my real parents no matter how they tried and not like they maltreated me. Yet I happened to be the only person who had gone to the university and today I am running a master's degree programs courtesy of God and a total stranger who ensure I got an education. (my aunties were very poor & I couldn't blame them because they were full.time house wives while their husbands pay the bills) Life might not be perfect but I thank God because of where I am today. This movie to me highlights mixed race issues with disliking the black race because of the pressure & disadvantages the race comes with so she decided to embrace her white side where she felt accepted & the privileges meant she could live a fulfilling life. She tries to erase her children she had with a black man and they came for her. I was once happily married. We talked about my dream of starting my own business so we wouldn't have to work for other people anymore. We finally pulled the trigger. Started a business. This movie to me highlights mixed race issues with disliking the black race because of the pressure & disadvantages the race comes with so she decided to embrace her white side where she felt accepted & the privileges meant she could live a fulfilling life. She tries to erase her children she had with a black man and they came for her. This is a true battle I see a lot of mixed race people go through and sometimes it causes them to self hate and destruct because at the end nobody wants to be associated with a race that is frown upon.
I definitely don’t mind being part of a race that is “frowned upon”. I know the true reason why. Jealousy and envy cause people to do all kinds of heinous things. I wouldn’t want to be anything else than what I am. 🥰

The revenge they already got exposing her to her uppity pals [that never accepted her in the first place], her perfect life was ruined the very instant they crashed her gala.
It hurts that she enjoyed life without thinking of her previous family but the consequences for those kids are not even worth it for such a terrible person.
She is rich already, now she also gets to escape and start over again where no one knows her and those kids get sent to jail for invasion, assault or murder.
They already survived without her, they can do more by making her their cash cow for a while, elevate their own lives and treat their own kids better.

The writers wanted the viewers to see how damaged the kids turned out. They hadn't been taught to have sympathy or kindness. Just as the mother was insensitive that's how her kids turned out. Would have been a better movie if they turned out to be good kids and she got kicked out and Ian divorced her. Or she was jailed for abandoning her kids.
