Saw a skunk following a little boy while me and a group of friends were chilling at the park. We were watching to make sure it didn't hurt the little boy, and then he turned and picked it up. We freaked out for a second before realizing it was a pet.
We all relaxed after that and enjoyed seeing the little cutie, it was a fun experience.

OMG !!! This is making me cry !! I had a baby skunk several years ago. That was the sweetest pet I have ever had. When I sat down to watch TV she would crawl up on me and take her little black hand and pat my face and snuggle me. This made me cry and smile at the same time. So precious. They are much more intelligent than you would think. I loved her so much.

I take care of a feral cat colony. The other day I was late feeding, so I was calling cats when a skunk came running out of the bushes straight for me. Turns out I'm also feeding a trio of skunks. I have to say, they're the healthiest looking skunks ive ever seen. 😆

i love the little munching sounds skunks make, they're such loud eaters that i often hear them before i see them! i like to crouch nearby and watch them and listen to them rooting around for food when i see them on walks, such cool little critters

@@amyk9813 No, breeders have the scent gland removed when they’re babies before going to their new homes. They make really chill pets, and can learn to use the litter box.

I love this, reminds me of when I was in high school I had a pet porcupine that lived in the house. He was potty trained and had his own bed area. I remember him being so playful and so much fun. He eventually moved out to the wild once he reached adulthood and would come back to visit once in awhile and eventually just stayed gone. Mr. Prickles was a great friend.
My family did this with a squirrel when I was young! His mother died when he was a baby so we took him in and raised him until he was an adult, then let him go. He lived in our big front yard tree for a while until he eventually left for good. His name was Mr. Giggles
@@luleoli that's awesome, yeah that is how I got Mr. Prickles. He was orphaned and we found on the way to our fishing spot. I actually dumped all the worms out and we herded him in the can and packed him home.

@@JaneDoe-em7zi From having experience, to legally own a pet skunk you HAVE to get them removed. Most times they come from breeders or rescues already removed. Another most case scenario is that you have to have an exotic pet or rescue license for exotic animals. a lot of states won't allow anything crazy as a pet for no reason. Monkey being an example. you can get them as support pets, but unless you have insurance, they cost upwards of $30-40,000.
@@UN-intelligent wow I didn't know that you had to have a license to own a pet skunk- but that's good! Every pet owner exotic or regular house pet owner should have a license, because some people don't deserve them. You learn something knew everyday. Thanks for dropping that knowledge on me. 😉

My great aunt had one, she stayed in the closet. When you opened the door, she would do a stomp dance, that would make you shut the door very quickly 🤣

Skunks are so underrated! I remember seeing one in the wild a couple years ago. It was on a hill in the springtime, in the most picturesque meadow with all sorts of colored flowers and bushes surrounding it. And you could just see this little black and white fluffy animal with its tail up walking through. ❤

Unfortunately, I am not convinced that skunks are supposed to be domesticated. Most people take out their natural defense mechanisms, their scent glands in order to “house train” skunks.
I had a skunk we rescued when I was very young. She was hilarious and very entertaining. Slept under the cover near my feet.
I absolutely cannot stand the sound of someone chewing food but this is freaking adorable and has completely changed my mind LOL 🥰😂

She is so beautiful - fluffy & clean. It would be very interesting to know the particulars of owning a pet skunk. Their temperament, degree of socialization, cleanliness, etc. She is a lovely little girl. I'd hope she might be affectionate, but somehow think she is probably aloof.

They're usually fine. Skunks can be quarrelsome with each other in family groups. Lots of drama. By themselves they're often affectionate. No spray danger as long as they're comfortable with you and the other household animals. They're not looking to spray noxious chemicals where they live.

they're basically a mini dog. extremely social, intelligent and clean. there are some channels on here with their pet skunks. if I lived where it was legal to own one I would. they also are de-musked so they can't spray you lol

All our pets knew the sound of the fridge door, and the electric can opener, and would start meowing and queeping and dancing like crazy as soon as they heard it.
That's my cat with a bowl and spoon. Usually means ice cream or milk leftovers, but now he comes around even if it's spicy chilly or chips!

What a beautiful animal. Skunk fur is a true, flat black and the stripes are the snowiest white. This reminds me of one of the best and most poetic books I ever read, about a pet skunk named Secret. Lily is very lucky to be snacking on snow peas!

I agree. Animals are just a different kind of people in fur, feathers & scales. Just watching them interact with each other shows us they have many of the same needs & cross-species love & friendship is a very beautiful thing. I think our technical definition of “people” was created at a time when humans didn’t want to see animals as being sentient beings, since that makes it harder to use, abuse & eat them. Plus it was easier to see certain animals with big personalities as anomalies, since they had contact with fewer in a lifetime than we see in a single day on UA-cam
@@allisonjames2923 You don't really NEED anything besides nourishment, water, and housing. You could stare at the wall 24/7 and eat unseasoned rice. The point is that we care about plenty of things that animals don't give a shit about so no we do not have all the same needs.

My two brothers and sister had one way before I came along. I am 10 years younger than my next oldest sibling. Anyway, my Dad and Uncle found an abandoned baby, and had it's scent glands removed. All three of my siblings said it made a great "pet"... Growing up around them, they became it's parents and it was never aggressive.
When I worked at the animal shelter, an officer was called out to get some newborn kits that the mom had been killed. When that officer showed them to me, I was racking my brain to figure how to take them home. But I was not in the best situation for them, so logic won out over emotion.
They went to wildlife rescue.
My daughter rescued two babies just this spring she had them in her care for 2days until she found someone who could care for them, she couldn't with two babies of her own and work and all but she was hellbent they were going to live 🤗.

She's not tame, skunks are just chill animals overall for the most part. She's still a wild animal. Even skunks bred in captivity for several generations, even a hundred years, are still wild and not domesticated.
@@animeluver22113 uh, no lol. You don't just go buy a skunk at a pet shop. In most places you need a license to own an exotic animal and they have to come from specific breeders. And the kits are usually at least $500 a pop.
@@No-cg9kj I know of an exotic pet store and they have skunks along with other exotic animals. and you sign up for the permit at their website or at the shop. when I was little there was another pet store that I've occasionally would see skunks too.

We had a skunk pet growing up. They are nocturnal, so Skeeter was a roundabout at night while we were sleeping. We loved her so much. She went to the vet and got her shots and got “fixed” just like the cat. Loved peanut butter.
