I've driven the auto version - its amazing even though I was terrified to start off with - made a mistake and went over a hump back bridge at 60mph - all four wheels left the ground and it landed so gently I only knew from the whoosh of relief from the owner sitting next to me :-)

Had the DB9 version. Was pretty much the most beautiful car I've owned but the DBS is the holy grail. I'm on the lookout for one right now. Thanks for starting my addiction up again Tavarish!
If I remember correctly, they had to use an explosive charge to get the DBS to roll over in Casino Royal because it was so stable they couldn't get it to roll no matter how hard they tried.
John Yes. But I think it was compressed air going to a jack similar to an F1 racer when they change tires. The story is told in the extras on the DVD...but I haven’t watched it in years. You are right, though, they tried and tried, and just couldn’t get it unstable. Amazing stunt!!!
The moment I became a car guy was when I was about 10 years old, and my neighbor had rented a stall in her garage for winter storage of a DB-5. When spring came, I was out in the back yard when the owner started it up. The music from that engine was like nothing I had ever heard. I poked my head over the fence to see and hear James Bond's car.

Trent is correct. This isn't like on AMG cars, where the engine has the builder's name on it. Mick Freeman did the final inspection on the ENTIRE car, not the engine. Doug DeMuro got it wrong in one of his videos too.
Great looking DBS. I've got a Q Spec one off Blue DBS and I love it. I have 360 degree camera and CarPlay thanks to Aston Installations, they also have a HD screen coming to replace that god awful Volvo SatNav screen, definitely worth checking them out

I don't get the excitement over manual cars. I see the same excitement when I've watched DDE video's who constantly talk about their "rare gated manual" I suppose as i'm in the UK it's because manual cars here are pretty much the norm over automatics.
That's the thing. Lots of vehicles in North America are sans clutch pedal. Only 1 of the 4 cars I've owned were automatic (first one...intended to do an auto->manual swap) and I'm the only car within several blocks that have a manual. Depending on what State you're in, there are most certainly not common.
Good for you Tavarish! Use it everyday. I used to have sport bikes when I was younger and there was that group of buyers that only wanted the newest thing and acted like after 3500 miles a sport bike was toast. I’d snatch them up cheap and put 25k on without issue or concern. The same type that buy expensive cars and don’t use them for their intended purpose and then discard because they can’t be seen driving anything that old. That beautiful DBs is just broken in at 30k miles and needs to run! You are the furthest thing from a poser and I love that you simply like what you like without apology. Fun fact: actually while filming Casino Royale, the stuntman couldn't get the car to roll, so after many attempts they put an air cannon in the passenger seat to initiate the roll...and the result was amazing as we can see on film.

But when they ask me, i tell them that my dream car is simply a BMW M3 e92 manual. Its just something i love about that car. Its not the fastest and not the slowest by any means, but i just love the looks of it
I'm completely with you on the whole liking a car with some mileage. Cars are machines, they're built to be used, not to sit and be statues or static show pieces. There's nothing worse than a car that's been used so little it doesn't work properly. A car that's been used but well loved will always feel enthusiastic. I've got a 30 year old sports bike that starts beautifully every time because it's lived exactly the kind of life you describe for your Aston and I love it that bit more because it feels like it wants to get out, see the road and be used (And shout at other vehicles).

The car that gets my blood going, is a rare'sh car it's an 80's group B rally car built by the now defunct Austin Rover group. It's the MG Metro 6R4 420bhp 4 wheel drive rallye car.

The late Tony Pond gave it, its highest placing on the Isle of Man rally, yes that Isle of Man. I believe that he came 6th. But its also the basis of the 220 jaguar engine, that Tom Walkinshaw put in the chassis when he built it and developed it for Jaguar Cars. Sorry for nerding over the car but when, if, ever I win the lottery that will be the first car I'll buy after my fleet of mc's. But I won't be buying one though lol I'd try and buy the Tony Pond car.
@@neilperry2224 I'm a nerd myself and learned quite a lot about british motorsport history. Of course i knew about the XJ 220's engine. Already a beast in the light and nimble Metro, it got really lively after they fitted the turbos and let Martin Brundle have a go. Actually there are really great documentaries here on youtube about many of those cars from that era. Escort, Jaguars, MG Metro amongst others. Chris Harris also has a great podcast with guests such as Brundle, Nicky Grist, Damon Hill... You name it.

Not a minute into the video but to answer your question, I love cars because of the engineering or handwork that goes into designing and maintenance of a vehicle. Over 100 years ago motor vehicles were beginning to be integral toward life in the 20th century an onward where even a few short years into the 1900's individual's started supping up there cars for more power eventually to start racing them. In 100 years cars manufacturing went from vehicles that can barely go faster than 25 mph too cars that are capable to speeds over 200mph on a short stretch of road while still have basic auto features(Radio, air conditioning, etc.). Now into the 21 century we are witnessing a turning point in auto manufacturing where cars will have alternative uses of power thats not reliant on gasoline. Besides average joes can modify they're vehicle to their own wants and need themselves if they can. Also what makes a car desirable in my opinion comes down to a saying "It's not the driver who chooses the car but it's the car who chooses it driver". That feeling when you see a certain car that catches your eye and calls you cause of the bodywork, engine, interior whatsoever. But that feeling of happiness as that car defines you as it something that completes part of your life. My feelings towards the Testarossa or Testarossa TR.
My dad have a Aston Martin DBS 2009 too, but his Aston isn't manual. But he have looked at so many Ferraris, McLarens and lambos but he don't want to switch! He still think that his 2009 Aston is the best
The two cars that I have always had a passion for was the Aston Martin DB9 and the Mclaren 12C. The DB9 will always be my number one go to car tho. I know it isn’t fast and the automatic isn’t great but I don’t care. Series 4 of Top Gear made me fall in love with that car. I love the shape, the sound of the V12, and how it literally looks amazing from every angle. Love seeing you fulfill something that I will get to do one day. Happy for you bro 🤙🏻😎

@@Zikminded98 I like cars and prefer manuals. But I have had a A6 Diesel with a CVT Transmission and it was the greatest daily driver ever. Avant with room for nearly everything, silent and comfortable and low fuel consumption. Sadly the transmission was a always broken piece of crap.
It's been over a decade, this still is the prettiest Aston ever made.

Often when me and my friends talk about cars and i ask them what their dream car is, they always say like lamborghini or ferrari. But when they ask me, i tell them that my dream car is simply a BMW M3 e92 manual. Its just something i love about that car. Its not the fastest and not the slowest by any means, but i just love the looks of it
Lucky for you that's a very achievable dream car. My dad has the sedan version (e90) and it's fantastic.

I'm completely with you on the whole liking a car with some mileage. Cars are machines, they're built to be used, not to sit and be statues or static show pieces. There's nothing worse than a car that's been used so little it doesn't work properly. A car that's been used but well loved will always feel enthusiastic.
I've got a 30 year old sports bike that starts beautifully every time because it's lived exactly the kind of life you describe for your Aston and I love it that bit more because it feels like it wants to get out, see the road and be used (And shout at other vehicles).

The US market is almost obsolete in manual new car sales.
People in the united states are lazy, not car enthusiasts but the majority of the public. I live in the united states but many of my family living in Russia know manual (not own cars because cars are ridiculously impractical and expensive haha)

The car that gets my blood going, is a rare'sh car it's an 80's group B rally car built by the now defunct Austin Rover group. It's the MG Metro 6R4 420bhp 4 wheel drive rallye car.
Deltas will do so as well. :D Especially the S4, which you probably have heard of. They made a Stradale Version. I believe i first saw it with a guy named "Clarkson" at the helm.
@@bobrockmann7521 ty for response I am a fan Lancias but the Delta Intergrala's are nice cars there's even a rare Intergrala evo3 but to me it was always the Metro that I've always liked. The late Tony Pond gave it, its highest placing on the Isle of Man rally, yes that Isle of Man. I believe that he came 6th. But its also the basis of the 220 jaguar engine, that Tom Walkinshaw put in the chassis when he built it and developed it for Jaguar Cars. Sorry for nerding over the car but when, if, ever I win the lottery that will be the first car I'll buy after my fleet of mc's. But I won't be buying one though lol I'd try and buy the Tony Pond car.
@@neilperry2224 I'm a nerd myself and learned quite a lot about british motorsport history. Of course i knew about the XJ 220's engine. Already a beast in the light and nimble Metro, it got really lively after they fitted the turbos and let Martin Brundle have a go. Actually there are really great documentaries here on youtube about many of those cars from that era. Escort, Jaguars, MG Metro amongst others. Chris Harris also has a great podcast with guests such as Brundle, Nicky Grist, Damon Hill... You name it.

Not a minute into the video but to answer your question,
I love cars because of the engineering or handwork that goes into designing and maintenance of a vehicle. Over 100 years ago motor vehicles were beginning to be integral toward life in the 20th century an onward where even a few short years into the 1900's individual's started supping up there cars for more power eventually to start racing them. In 100 years cars manufacturing went from vehicles that can barely go faster than 25 mph too cars that are capable to speeds over 200mph on a short stretch of road while still have basic auto features(Radio, air conditioning, etc.). Now into the 21 century we are witnessing a turning point in auto manufacturing where cars will have alternative uses of power thats not reliant on gasoline. Besides average joes can modify they're vehicle to their own wants and need themselves if they can.
Also what makes a car desirable in my opinion comes down to a saying "It's not the driver who chooses the car but it's the car who chooses it driver". That feeling when you see a certain car that catches your eye and calls you cause of the bodywork, engine, interior whatsoever. But that feeling of happiness as that car defines you as it something that completes part of your life. My feelings towards the Testarossa or Testarossa TR.

The two cars that I have always had a passion for was the Aston Martin DB9 and the Mclaren 12C. The DB9 will always be my number one go to car tho. I know it isn’t fast and the automatic isn’t great but I don’t care. Series 4 of Top Gear made me fall in love with that car. I love the shape, the sound of the V12, and how it literally looks amazing from every angle. Love seeing you fulfill something that I will get to do one day. Happy for you bro 🤙🏻😎
