Cobia in Western Shore VA (June 2, 2019)

I finally made my usual long trip to VA Beach area. I was tied up at work and fised a few times in my local waters for 2 months. I wasn’t quite prepared for the cobia fishing. But I went anyway.
I caught two under size cobia on the same eel. Hopefully I catch a keeper next time

Hope so. I didn't have bluefish and shark bites at all. I think no sharks until mid June

Do you ever fish with groups?

yes. often long time ago. But rarely past 3-4 years. I manage a team supports 24x7. I pick my off days when the work load is expected light, and I have a backup and the wind is light. I usually know my off day after 3 PM the day before. So making arrangements is difficult.

Not many boats that day. I saw a red kayak close to the pier. I anchored (moved) 3 times because tow different boats anchored right next to me about 70 yards away from me. The boaters didn't know about cobia fishing and how the current and the wind affect the location of the boat. I was between the main building and the jet ski rental

yup. No sharks/no bluefish until mid June. After that you need a lot of bait fish
