On some Amana models there is a service panel at the bottom of the front of the dryer. If you have this panel, you can simply remove two screws. You'll have to lay on the ground to see the thermal fuse at the back of the dryer but it's easy to reach.
On the fuse the bottom terminal is soldered and easy to pull off. I know the new one should be here today. So my advice be careful if you are just wanting to disconnect the bottom line for some reason. Bought mine on amazon.
Amana has been purchased by multiple manufacturers over the years. This one is built by Maytag circa 2003 or so. Newer amanas are Whirlpool based and like you said much easier to deal with.
Amana certainly made it easy for a customer to know the repairman’s phone number. Replaced one on a Kenmore, took the back panel off and the fuse was right there. With my bad back, no way could I do this Amana dryer.
This is a terrible video. My dryer is not set up the same way. The thermal fuse is not inside the dryer. It on the back. I've taken my dryer apart for no reason and I can't get it back together. Bad advice.

What are the symptoms of a bad thermal fuse - no heat?
Thing about this is my dryer is brand new and already having this problem. Maybe faulty parts from the factory?

This guy KNOWS his dryers! How do you know the thermal fuse is bad? Won't start? Could it be something else?
