I share so many favorite horror books with you!! Near the Bone and Mary were two of my favorite reads last year. I’m going to read Cirque Beserk on your recommendation.
As soon as you said that The Silence of the Lambs is your #1 horror I knew I had to subscribe! 🐑🙂 The book, the movie and the TV show are all brilliant (it was criminal that the show was cancelled.) I'm about the same age as you and I remember reading the book (and Red Dragon), watching the movie on release and seriously toyed with the idea of training to be a Forensic Pathologist or a Criminal Psychologist, I was that fascinated! I've loved reading, and scary stuff, my whole life and another book you may like is the fantastic Swedish novel 'Let The Right One In' by John Ajvide Lindqvist.
Newer subscriber here. What a great list! So glad to see that I’m not the only one who loved The Troop 😂! Near the Bone was also amazing! You might like Devolution by Max Brooks as well. Looks like I need to bump Swan Song up on my TBR. It’s been on my shelf for too long.
An awesome list! Clive Barker is a favorite author, but I love his dark fantasy novels like Weaveworld. The Cipher is my next book, looking forward to it. Pet Sematary is excellent but far from my favorite Stephen King novel, The Stand. Swan Song is most definitely the best book I have ever read! I actually read it in less then three days. I was on holiday and I could not take my eyes off this book. I will never forget Josh and Swan, plus all the other characters, best book ever! I would highly recommend Boy's Life! Oh wow, Silence of the Lambs, great book and even better movie, in my opinion. "It puts the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again"...damn terrifying!
Oh, brilliant! I now want to read several of these, but with my bad memory, I'll probably forget. 🤣 You don't happen to have a written liste somewhere?
I sure do!🤣 Top 10 Horror 1. Silence of the Lambs 2. Swan Song 3. Pet Semetary 4. Southern Bookclub 5. Motherthing 6. Near the Bone 7. The Troop 8. The Cipher 9. Mary 10. The Last House on Needless Street
I hit subscribe so fast. I either love all these books or have them on my TBR. Silence of The Lambs and Pet Semetary will always have my heart. I read Silence of The Lambs when i was a freshman in high school cause i was a weird kid and loved the movie which i watched on repeat when i was like 10 😅 Pet Semetary was the only movie ever to date to give me nightmares, Zelda is just another level of scary lol but the book has so many layers and literally made me cry. I loved it.
Yesss Motherthing 😭 *immediately purchases all of these books* Out of all of these I own but haven’t read yet I have Needless Street, Mary, and Pet Sematary. You’ve got me wanting to read them ASAP!!
I love theme park horror so much! Cirque Berserk sounds right up my alley! There are a few authors on here that I have been meaning to pick up. Thanks for the hit to the horror TBR.
Hi Venus, great list. I think you'd really love Stephen Graham Jones, my current favorite author, at the top with King. Try Heart Like a Chainsaw, or really anything. Also, the way you talk about Swan Song- is it possible you haven't read The Stand? I love McCammon, but if you haven't read The Stand, it's kings's end of the world novel and one of his best. Anyway, new subscriber and I'm off to find Near the Bone! Cheers.
Loved this! I need to read The Last House on Needless Street. I read Sundial first and also that it was just okay, but I want to check out more from her!
Hi Venus, I’m a new subscriber. I watch lots of book videos but this is the first time I’ve been recommended your channel by you tube. I’ve lots of videos to catch up on. Great video. x
Several of these are on my TBR: The Last House on Needless Street, Pet Sematary, and Swan Song. You've got me super intrigued about Mother Thing now too!
Red Dragon, Hannibal & Hannibal Rising are the other three books of the series. Red Dragon was made into a movie called ‘Manhunter’ and Hannibal Rising is a prequel/origins story to Hannibal Lecter.
Thank you! It’s been so many years since I’ve read them all and watched all the movies! There was another adaptation of Red Dragon with Ralph Fiennes and Edward Norton in addition to Manhunter. I haven’t watched them in many years.
YES!! I Adore the silence of the lamb book series, also the films are good and mads mikkelson in the TV series plays hannibal amazingly
I need to check out the TV series!
Dear Venus, your hair is gorgeous. x
Thank you!☺️

I have got to get cirque beserk! I always forget for some reason, dang it.
It’s such a great slasher!

I'm so happy you had fun with The Hellbound heart! Mother thing was good!! That ending!! 😯 I was shocked haha
I was shocked too! Did not see it coming at all!🤣
If you'd liked The Hellbound Heart, try The Books of Blood by Clive Barker. I love these.
Thank you! Adding to my TBR!
I forgot all about Last House on Needless Street when making my list, that’s a great one! Great list, there’s some I have not heard of!
Thanks for watching Jak!☺️
The Last House On Needless Street was awesome. When the twist/reveal came I was shocked x
Me too!

Thank you for watching! The Stand is actually on my Stephen King TBR for 2024! Thank you for the recommendation!
@@VenusEscapesToRead I predict it will be your new king favorite. Enjoy, I will look forward to your review!

omg this is such a great list! awesome picks. I still havent read The Troop or Pet Semetary, I definitely need to prioritize those next year.
Thank you Amy!!😊
I want to read The Exorcist and Misery
I haven’t read Misery in many years definitely one of Stephen Kings best books to me.
Several of these are on my TBR: The Last House on Needless Street, Pet Sematary, and Swan Song. You've got me super intrigued about Mother Thing now too!
Motherthing is so fun!!
Just finished Swan Song a few days ago and 100% agree so phenomenal! 😍 I think you’ll love Boy’s Life by him
So excited to read Boy’s Life!!

@@VenusEscapesToRead I wasn’t aware of the non-Gil Grishom Manhunter 😀🤣
You should try the show Hannibal. The first 2 seasons are excellent, then it kind of goes off the rails, but Mads Mikelson as Hannibal is amazing.
Thank you! I’ll have to check that out, Mads Mikkelson is an amazing actor!
I grew up on HellRaiser - my age shows 😏
Me too! 👀🤣
I love this channel and content ! Can’t wait to read some of these! UA-cam is so racist your channel should be recommended way more!! Love it!
Thank you so much!! ☺️
That clown 🤡 on the cover 😳😳😳
I really didn't like Motherthing that much! I wanted more in the ending.
I always go in blind.. it’s my way
All of these sound far to scary for my chicken shit self 😂
🤣
