- The yarn company uses a weaver's knot, or called a square knot, when tying ends together. It's almost impossible to get these knots out once secured.

I learned to tie a square knot by remembering "left over right, right over left". The other way is called a Granny Knot, they never hold.
Me too! I learned it for making arm slings.
Me too but the opposite. R over L and then L over R. I wonder if that makes a difference 🤔
I learned that at Girl Guides.
This just changed my joining game❤
Oh my gosh! Forget my old question about why my blankets are unraveling! I should have had patience and watched more of your videos. Your a life saver ..and blanket catastrophe saver.
Thanks so much for showing this square knot. You explained it clearly and now I remember learning it in Girl Scouts. I’ll be using it on my current afghan that changes colors with each row. I’m starting to crochet again after a 40 hour year hiatus and loving it. I keep telling my kids that my items are made with love so ignore any imperfections. Thanks again, Sue
Game. Changer. Thx, Mikey! 😊👍🧶
Love ya Mikey! ❤thank you!
Thankfully already subbed 😊. Tyfs Mikey😊
The perfect knot!
A square knot! Yes! This is what I use! You can pull really tight and it makes the knot so small, USUALLY, you cannot even see it! 👍🏼🙏🏼
This knot is my go to and hides many a joining fiber secrets...🙌🏾
Knots are very important to know!
Ty for this my friend.
I always use the fisherman's knot. Very rarely use a square knot
First knot I ever learned. ❤ I grew up sailing. Amazing how one will hold and the other always let's go. Left over right, right over left. Yes!
This knot will save an account I design several necklaces. Thanks so very much!!!
This is the most visually helpful tutorial I’ve been able to find. Really clear, concise, and informative. Most of all - super helpful! Thank you 💜
Thank you Michael!🧶 This is so helpful. How kind of you 😊👍🙋♀️📬🧵
It worked better than a magic knot. Thanks
Square knot is left over right, right over left, very simple. Never seen it done the way Mikey demonstrated but, same result.
My dad was a weaver at one time. I learned how to make the knot when I was rather young.
Okay. When I was in the scouts many many years ago, we called that a square knot. The other one we used to call a granny knot. Now for someone to remember how to make a square knot, it's right over left and leftover right. Try that.
That saying “right over left…” never made sense to me until now. 😂
I was the the Navel Cadets az a child a d we learned how secure this ancient knot is
This video was very useful I've never known how to knot 🪢 and I was crocheting so thanks😀😃keep I up👍🙏
A standard reef knot!
Thanks Mikey!
Wow ! I will be using that knot.
Thank you Mikey ❤
I do the weavers knot...but I wrap twice then bring it up and wrap it twice again and pull it tight. It allows me to clip the tails very short, and makes it invisible in a stitch.
Wrapping it twice, sounds like a quilter's knot, also a surgical knot!
Gawd every time l make a knot l have to watch this!!! 🤣 lm so glad you did 💜
My expierence with one yarn company is that they don't use a square knot and I can _always_ pull their knots apart.
So much simpler than the other ways I’ve seen it explained! I get it now!
Love it thanks
Thank you so much for the video! I had a leather strip that I wanted to make a necklace out of and this video helped me make it.
Thank you for the education.
This helped me thank you for making this video
Thank you so much for this!!!!
Thank you for this tip.
Hi Mikey. Love you.
Thank you for sharing this
I've had issues in the past sometimes, especially with acrylic it still wants to slip, or if your hiding it a big project.
I use a sheet bend. Close to what you did there but you cross the one side. It also helps if your using 2 different sizes. The one side becomes like a lock pulling against itself.
I learned the proper why my knots never come out. Good one to share
I do this but a different way. I just double wrap my fingers and knot. I then make sure the knot is tight and snip to just a mm or two above the knot. Saves me trying to tie it when crocheting. 😊
thanks! very helpful 10/10
I use the magic knot and have never had one come apart. Knock on wood! I’ll try this though. Thanks!
I remember learning to tie a square knot in The Boy Scouts! The only thing that I really learned there lol.
VERRRRY HELPFUL!!!
This was so helpful. 🎉❤
I just saw this on a video last week. I been using it. I making my first project with this knot. First time not weaving in ends. I hope it really works.
Thank you, I never knew this. I will be sure to try it now.
Oh! I have never seen this but will try it! Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you!!!
🎉 !!! Seriously the most simplest video and yet effective!
This works WONDERFULLY 😆, THANK YOU!! My go-to joining method from now on.....
A surgeon's knot works just as well. AND, it's just as easy to tie.
Thank you
Thank you 🎉❤
This is how I tie all my knots, except for my grocery bags, I’ll use the granny so my groceries won’t come out and I can untie them when I get home
The best video for truly helpful info on You Tube for crafters! Thanks a bunch.
Omg thanks for explaining this!! You make it so simple!
"Left over Right and under - Right over left and under" This video shows the method perfectly. I like to add a second twist on the final pass for added snugness.
Thanks
I know how to do the invisible knot and the magic knot, but I cannot get them close enough to the hook and I spend too much time messing around with that. I absolutely loathe weaving ends in, all over a project; especially small ones like hats, when I’m changing colors a lot. This saved my life! Thank you thank you!
Anyone who ever worked in Spinrite yarn finishing department had to learn that knot...
I have seen knots that slip. Maybe they stopped doing it with the sqaure knot. But thank you. I had forgoten.
I just did it....THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS
Thank you lol
Yeah, I've had this knot cone undone multiple times. I no longer use it.
Excellent help. The one where you run the yarn around the thumb twice sailors knit. ? Not working for me? Ty Mikey 😊
Did he say meow? 😉
Learnt that in Girl Guides. Great knot. We remember it by... left over right, right over left.
It doesn’t have to be so complex! Just right over left and then left over right. I’m always shaking my head over the many elaborate ways crocheters use to make simple knots. Some need 4 or 5 steps to make a slip knot!!!🙀
Is this better than the magic knot? Do you trim it close?
nice tutorial ! Thank u so much
Also called a reef knot.
It works!!!😳💚
I was always doing it wrong lol
Do you prefer the weavers knot over the magic knot?
Is this the same as the magic knot I can’t quite tell ? It looks great I will give it a try thank you mikey xx
No the magic knot involves making two knots and then when you pull on the ends they cinch together. I'm trying to weigh up which is best to use, this method sure is quicker but wonder whether the tails can be cut very close using this method or if i have to weave in loose ends 🤔 I know for sure you can cut tails very close when using the square knot
@@HSFrox thank you I use the magic knot but I will give this one a try 😊
@@amandah4834 I'm using this method on a scrap blanket, using two strands at a time, switching in colours is super quick and easy. also not weaving in my ends because I wanted to embrace that scrappy look 😏
@@HSFrox that sounds amazing , thank you for your help and advice , Amanda xx💖
These knots are called the reef knot and the granny knot in England !
That's not a weavers knot. I was a weaver. And sorry that is not how we did it. It's more and likely a square knot
❤❤❤
How about the magic knot
Doesn't work had to re do half of my project because the join came loose.
I’ve used this before and the Russian Join.
Square knot. But I don't trust knots. I always weave in my ends. I've seen too many afghans in thrift shops with big holes because a knot failed.
Wow
Just like when you tie your shoe correctly, it tightens , not loosens the knot.
Right over left, left over right.
This is a reef knot, a reefers knot and a weevers knot are something different
🤔 Square knot, yes. But the Weavers knot is actually a sheet bend isn't it? And it's tied very differently
it seems like it will hold but then i cut the strings and nope
Or a reef knot
It's a square Knot. 1st Knot cub scouts learn.
I don’t use knots in anything I crochet or knit
I just tried this on super chunky yarn and it came undone after 3 rounds of knitting 😠😩😭
left over right , right over left , its a reef knot
Right over left, left over right. Who hasn’t learned this knot? There are easier ways to explain that, huh maybe that is the trouble that I have with your videos.
Tytytyttyty
A square knot.
It didn't work, twice.
WOW this is always how I do my knots with long tails i weave in 3 directions. :)
Since the knot is tight & will not come undone, it's really ok to trim the yarn ends at the knot... no tails to weave anywhere!!!
