  • The yarn company uses a weaver's knot, or called a square knot, when tying ends together. It's almost impossible to get these knots out once secured.

I learned to tie a square knot by remembering "left over right, right over left". The other way is called a Granny Knot, they never hold.

Thanks so much for showing this square knot. You explained it clearly and now I remember learning it in Girl Scouts. I’ll be using it on my current afghan that changes colors with each row. I’m starting to crochet again after a 40 hour year hiatus and loving it. I keep telling my kids that my items are made with love so ignore any imperfections. Thanks again, Sue

Okay. When I was in the scouts many many years ago, we called that a square knot. The other one we used to call a granny knot. Now for someone to remember how to make a square knot, it's right over left and leftover right. Try that.

I've had issues in the past sometimes, especially with acrylic it still wants to slip, or if your hiding it a big project.
I use a sheet bend. Close to what you did there but you cross the one side. It also helps if your using 2 different sizes. The one side becomes like a lock pulling against itself.

No the magic knot involves making two knots and then when you pull on the ends they cinch together. I'm trying to weigh up which is best to use, this method sure is quicker but wonder whether the tails can be cut very close using this method or if i have to weave in loose ends 🤔 I know for sure you can cut tails very close when using the square knot
