We turned a garbage DPMS rifle into a pretty good shooter with a new side charging upper from Bear Creek.
A little late here. Just looking for something recent on YT to comment. I got a great deal on a PSA ar10 lower. After reading the warnings on compatability I was saving my pennies. I finally just bought a BCA upper and hoped for the best. Well, all of the warnings were dispelled. It fit perfectly and functions flawlessly. It's a 20 inch stainless upper. It's a nail driver and functions without a problem. Like any gun I had to find a round this particular gun liked. I typed it off with a budget (300 on sale) 5x30x56 scope and for less than a 1000 dollars I have a really good shooting AR 10. I shoot hundreds of rounds a year through any given gun I own. Not thousands so I saw no reason to spend thousands on something I probably won't wear out in my lifetime. The gun snbs around me are seeing that I'm proud of the value I'm getting and can do almost as much with Mt "budget" guns as they do with their designer guns. BCA make a great product as does PSA. just can't beat the quality for the price.

My BCA has been really good so far!
Good job on the paint. My BCA in 243 shot about a 1.25" groups when I got it. I installed an adjustable gas block because it was overgased. I also reload and moved an 87 gr V-Max .010" off the lands and now it shoots 2's & 3's using H4350 at 100 yds. I bet the Sierra factory ammo will produce under MOA as long as you do your part. I haven't had the BCA back out to the range in a while due to other projects but I plan to do some accuracy testing with Hornady ELD-X, and a Sierra Match King 168gr handload over 44.5gr 4350 in the near future. That load is sub MOA in a Savage Axis project I've been working on so I hope it will group well in the BCA also.
308 is a good round. It looks like you have your rifle functioning properly and it looks good 👍. As for the accuracy, I think finding the optimal ammo for your rifle will help with that. Thanks for the video and have a great evening.

Yes I don't expect much out of surplus ammo. Thanks for the review. I just ordered a BCA 6.5 CM upper for my DPMS lower and hope that I have good results.

Lol wow i have that exact same high profile upper receiver that you showed in the pic of when you first got the rifle from your friend. and i just got a BCA 308 upper because i'm over the way it looks and how i dont get to run irons if i wanted to since its not a flush top rail. Its a pretty good performing upper but i bought it a loooong time ago when there wasn't as many lr308 options out there and it was the cheapest i could find from a company called blitzkrieg tactical that made all their stuff in house similar to BCA. I hope this new one I have coming in is a good one but i'm definitely going over it for quality fit and finish checks since i know it can be a hit and miss with them. this is my 3rd upper from BCA and the first two have been working out well with barely any tweaking, granted of course they are ar15 versions but still great shooters.

I haven't had any issues to speak of with this one, and it fits the DPMS lower like it was meant to be there.

I have allot of the ZQI ammo in 7.62 x 51. It shoots great out of my Ar 10 and groups great for how cheap it is.
Some times the gas port is sized to the minimal allowable diameter. I had this problem. I opened the gas port in the barrel to just under maximum and the cycling issue went away. As far as 7.62x51 it’s not the same as .308. The pressure in 7.62 is lower than .308 which will cause cycling issues. (SDI graduate). One of my AR10’s shoots anything. The other only likes Federal ammo.

Bit late on video but in November they had these complete uppers for 300ish some even lower on a sale. I was able to find a 20" stainless steel fluted hbar

I am wanting an AR10. Budget is definitely the only option. Is bear creek a great place to start for an economical budget friendly deer rifle.
I'm completely happy with the performance of this one. I wish I'd have gone with it sooner rather than trying to refurbish the old upper.

Will Bear Creek 308 uppers work on a PSA Gen3 lower?
I haven't the foggiest idea. Never tried it. I've seen a video with mostly functional BCA upper/ PSA gen 2 lower, but it had issues. It's there any particular reason you want to mix the two? BCA lowers are quite reasonable.

It's always a gamble when it comes to piecing stuff together. I'd reach out to Bear Creek and ask them directly. Something to the effect of "Hey I've got this XYZ-model lower, is your XYZ upper compatible with it?"
A lot of times manufacturers will be hesitant to give a definitive answer which can be frustrating.
Worse case scenario, it doesn't work, and you end up throwing more money at it than you originally hoped for.

if its chambered in .308 why would you look for accuracy shooting 7.62x51 NATO???? Maybe you should be little disappointed in yourself?

Brother, I'm sorry if my free internet content isn't up to your standards.
Whether or not it sets well with you, people are going to shoot surplus 7.62 through their .308 rifles.
Even if it is for no other reason than to obtain empty brass to reload properly.
Some of them may cross their fingers and hope for respectable accuracy, and believe it or not sometimes it happens.
In this case it didn't happen, although we did determine reliable function (not accuracy) in the process.
What I suggest is that you make your own videos so as not to be disappointed in the substandard work of others.
You complete misunderstood me… I’m sorry your little feelings got hurt and running your fuck hole trying to insult me… please tell me, if you going for accuracy why not use a .308 ammo that was acutely designed for that chamber and fuck around “keep fingers crossed and hope for respectable accuracy” and I’m not saying it can’t happen but why not take any possibilities out of it happening… I can assure you that as a man I stand on what I say no matter if we talking on here or face to face… keep the same energy my man…
@@highonbusa6520 at no point was accuracy the end goal here. The test was to see if it would function with 7.62 surplus ammunition. Accuracy was mentioned for the sake of the data collected, but merely as a by product. If I were shooting for accuracy I'd choose something besides cheap mil surplus ammo.
The fact remains that lots of folks run cheap 7.62 through their .308's.
As far as trying to insult you... well, you started it, and apparently by your use of profanity it worked.
