Retired IPS Kiran Bedi reacted to the three new criminal laws that are going to be implemented from July 1 onwards and called the implementation of BNS, BNSS and BSS ‘growth’ and termed it as ‘wholesale training’ for Police officials. She further added that no empowerment of law and police suits everybody.
Speaking to ANI, Kiran Bedi said, “It is like a wholesale training that Police are getting. It is like the full sensitization of the mental training of the police officers of millions. It is growth. There will always be two views to it. Every arrest will come with accountability. No empowerment of law and police suits everybody. There is an accused angle and there is a victim angle. But what you have to look at is the security, integrity and the people of the country.”
Notably, the three laws -- Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, and Bharatiya Sakshya Sanhita (BSS), 2023 will replace the colonial era Indian Penal Code (IPC), 1860, the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), 1973 and Indian Evidence Act, 1872. The Ministry of Home Affairs notified in February that the three laws shall come into force on July 1, 2024.

What about Police harrassing Public? Help the public from the harrasment.
Any powerful people group has corrupt people in them and good people in them. These laws while might improve accountability cannot totally eliminate power misuse. However you need to see if the new laws will make it better or worse.
BTW police in movies are shown very very bad but in reality there are good and bad cops.
Now we need All India Judiciary Services
Already central Govt proposed that. But, a Supreme court Judge rejected it.
I too welcome it.
Where is the "detective" Personnel in the police stations, doing "investigations" only to solve cases, like in developed nations. Policing needs to overhaul accordingly.
Kiran Bedi has the clarity of an officer that has grass root experience paired with an analytical mind.

Any legal matter takes years and years and most lawyers are corrupt.
Firstly the police officers should not be subservient to MLAs but come directly under the Home Affairs such that they are free to do their duty unhindered by persons holding high government appointments.

Allocating laws & regulations are necessary for Indian society. However, if they are not implemented in the right manner & abused by the authorities themselves, then they are meaningless.
The New laws have to be digitized which can allow the police officials/advocates and all relevant people to search for the appropriate rule applicable for a case. Ofcourse, training is very much essential to fully understand the logic and application of every rule.

I sent email yesterday to Mr Eknath Shinde CM Maharashtra and MP Piyush Goyal, to file FIR for the SIT formed to investigate the Rape and murder of Disha salian case includes pedophilia subject. Without FIR how come SIT will have directions, But it seems under BNS also a citizen cannot ask for justice for another citizen. Though we file cases on behalf of animals. So why not for a human?
Justice is already delayed, since 4 years in IPC. Despite proofs with the Advocate Nilesh Ojha speaking in media openly.
Now accusing a man will be easier than earlier.
She should be the President of India , eligible and great personality, not someone who can't even read properly. Everyone government post should be on merit . Appeasement should be stopped.

Kiran Bedi's opinion comes across as support for new laws. She says it will require massive retraining of police and others. She also says the old laws will continue for decades. This maybe because old crimes will have to be dealt under old laws.

Pehle police wale 15 din ki police custody karte the ab 3 mahine, pehle police custody mein byan ko sach nahi mana jata unless court ke saamne bhi wahi byan ho, ab police maar ke shock dekar aapse byan le sakti hai aur aapka byan court mein Manya hoga.
