  • India’s New & Renovated Airports Struggle To Take-off | Why Can’t They Attract Flyers?
India’s skies are reaching for new heights, with ambitious plans to double the number of airports by 2047.
Yet, many of these newly-built facilities are struggling and facing the initial hurdles to get off the ground.
According to a recent report in the Financial Express, despite hefty investments and state-of-the-art facilities, Kushinagar International Airport in Uttar Pradesh and Sindhudurg Airport in Maharashtra remain underutilized.

@@Naruto-Uchiha724 The Airports you are talking about, are the measure airports. Where ticket prices goes down because of the good number of good earning passengers. For the new airports the ticket prices will remain high, since people don't earn that much in these cities but due to heavily taxed fuel prices, the ticket prices are bound to remain high.

BJP has understood that progress in India is often measured by the tall and swanky infrastructural marvels, and by showcasing these structures to the public, the public feels that the area has progressed massively undermining the condition of the city's economy, necessity, etc. If not vote on ideology or caste, the swanky infrastructure that replicates present-day America is what drives many people in the semi-urban areas to vote for a certain party in our country. This is something that people have to understand at the earliest that it will only hurt the economy more, forcing the govt to focus on issues where there is an actual necessity.

On a flipside, Madurai Airport (IXM), Tamilnadu requested many years to make it as a full international airport. Govt declined to do it. It is merely a clerical thing to just list the airport in a new list. So airlines can fly more international routes. Now only three international flights to Dubai and Singapore and Colombo are operated. Once this airport added to full scale international list then more routes will be operational. For more than 15 years people and chamber of commerce of Madurai petitioning union govt for this. But why take no action . But building new airports in places where there are no flyers as just election stunt.

Everyone in India corporates and ministers, concentrated on IT for quick return. That sector is slowly dying, since IT infra is mostly made plus AI can maintain and upgrade it easily. For example: Indians never made windows they were always contractor who supported making certain modules of it.
