@-0melette- OK so it appears to be a *real* game in the sense that it's a game that exists but it's a fanmade mod of Mario 64. It actually looks pretty neat though. I wanna take this opportunity to say that I think they did Waluigi a serious disservice by giving him that name. (I know a lot of people only "like" him in the "meme" sense but I know there's a lot of people like me who always latch into obscure, underdog characters also). Maybe in Japan it makes sense to them culturally to name the character what pretty well translates to "bad Luigi" but in the western world it really doesn't play that well. At least Wario sounds like a name. Waluigi has always looked like a "Vinny" to me. It's a stereotypical Italian-American name so it fits. He would get to have a "V" as his logo instead of that dumb ass shit that looks like a "7". There. I said my piece about it and I feel a little bit better.
@-0melette- I did not realize that he was created by a third party developer! I'm gonna go check into that. I can't imagine, though, why you wouldn't want to at least set things up to where you could capitalize on the possible popularity of any character in a franchise like Super Mario. Nintendo would have had the final say on any element of the game, especially with the tight grip they keep on their IPs. However, they just basically went, "yeah eff it whatever" when it came to Waluigi. Then again, I was a huge fan of Super Princess Peach on the DS so I guess that's just a thing I do. 🤷♂️

@@rap6439 Yep, that isn't too good to be true. It is a reality, and the quality is good... its just horrifically expensive compared to other solutions. If all someone is looking to do is upscale their existing N64, there are options like the OSSC or the RetroTink2X which are very fine little to no lag solutions. Even getting the N64 RGB modded, then run through either of those upscaling/line doubling solutions is still probably cheaper than what I've seen these HDMI mods go for... $450 is a large chunk of money. I think I paid $75 for the RGB mod for my N64. Then I was able to use either the HDRetrovision cable for Component Which I think was $35 or the RGB Scart cable which I think was about the same. Lotta options out there, just takes time to figure out which solution fits your expectations and budget. :)
@ApemanMonkey People are more welcome to compare/use the UltraHDMI as a standard for quality when it comes to N64 HDMI mods, but that kit isn't a viable option imo, simply because it hasn't been available for sale over a year now (go look at the last posted update/info about it), and there's not even a pre-order date set so we can have an idea as to when it might be available again for sale. The point is, make/use comparisons for things that are readily available right now for purchase, not what might be available in the future.

"but this isn't even original hardware" @ Username I don't know what game console you were looking at, but the Warrior 64 uses an original Nintendo N64 motherboard (inside that new clear case) that has been modded with an RGB/HDMI kit.
@@CoroaEntertainment No offense, but it's like you're ignoring my point to be a smartass. Thanks for giving an honest take. Kickstarter has already been compromised on quality and it was only a matter of time before more garbage than legit products became available.
Curious now that a few years has gone by, has the warrior 64 team ever reached out to you about their supposed ultra hdmi solution? I bet the supporters were pissed when they received these things. Thanks for the heads up though man. Appreciate it.
Crack open your Hyperkin cable and compare the main IC.... Probably uses the exact same converter chip. Same chip as Pound cables too. Same chip as most HDMI boxes.
The circuits look a lot more complex than that on the Warrior 64. While one board plugs into the video output, an other one plugs directly onto the MAV-NUS chip which is responsible for digital-analog conversion and thus has direct RGB instead of crappy composite signal that the video output receives. The Warrior 64 probably just lacks upscaling but actually has proper colors and a good signal. It's just a 480p signal.
@@msklywenn The one connected to the MAV-NUS in their installation video is one of three adapter boards meant to deal with the different video DAC/Encoder sizes and pinouts: One for VDC-NUS (early NTSC video DAC/Encoder with analog RGB output) One for DENC-NUS (PAL video DAC/Encoder) One for AVDC-NUS (audio DAC and video DAC/Encoder). The adapter boards literally just adapt the ribbon connector for each version of the video DAC chip and doesn't do anything other than make a connection, so it isn't really what you need to be looking at... though you might want to note that only AVDC/MAV-NUS have digital audio so it will have to get audio from elsewhere. The board on the AV Multi-out is the CPLD digital to analog RGB mod with a resistor ladder DAC as Tim Worthington designed it way back in 2007. The adapter board from the digital side of the N64's video DAC connects to the top side, giving it the digital signal it needs to make analog RGB. Unfortunately, it only connects to Audio, Power, and Ground on the AV Multi-out, so it will not restore analog RGB despite what their Kickstarter video said about "the back" having RGB and HDMI. Audio goes right out the side connector to their HDMI board. Analog RGBS video from the resistor ladder also goes through this connector to the HDMI board. Hopefully you can see where this is going... YEP. The HDMI board is another one of those crappy chips that you see in all the generic SCART2HDMI, AV2HDMI, YPbPr2HDMI, etc boxes that you can get for $15. That's also the same garbage they put inside Pound, LevelHike, Hyperkin, etc HDMI cables before marking them up $15 or more while pretending that they were made specifically for those consoles. Here:s the thing: they were made to handle analog inputs for a digital TV. They were made to send the scaled output to the digital display at its native resolutin, but they take that signal and run it back through an HDMI transmitter instead. This results in double-scaling, increased latency, and worse: NONE of these off-the-shelf analog input chips properly handle 240p, which is the native resolution of most consoles before the Dreamcast. Therefore, it is a scam to charge $10-15 extra while acting like it is designed specifically for a console where it doesn't even properly support that console's native resolution. Not supporting 240p means treating it like 480i, which means deinterlacing non-interlaced video. That means adding latency, blurring motion, and ruining 60hz flashing effects like simulated transparency. Stay FAR away from this garbage. If they truly wanted to tailor it for the N64 then they would have included Peter Bartmann or Tim Worthington's N64 YPbPr output and then incorporated the line doubler used on RetroTink 2X, RAD2X, Super64, Wii2HDMI, etc. Obviously, they aren't those kinds of engineers. They are the "take a thing and stick it into another thing" kind of engineers using the same $15 scalers they been scamming everyone with for $30.
@@msklywenn Warrior 64 incompetently scales it to 720p. What should be a simple 3x240p line multiplier, instead, gets processed as 480i, then 480i gets scaled to 720p. The issue with a Line 3X multiplier is that the timing will not be 60hz like most TVs expect and often will not work, but 480p will, so Line 2X is the way to go. Even TVs that improperly scale 240p will scale 480p to their native resolution just fine.

@@emmettturner9452 Simple, because not everybody likes the same things. If you like the clear pixels to have that serrated edge cool but there's also people who like as smooth as possible. It's just preference.
@@emmettturner9452 I am sticking with that thanks. But about defeating purposes?? Maybe it defeats what you have as standard for yourself but remember what I said tastes differ and you don't have to jump on a bandwagon just because someone said this or that is better. Just use the way you like it.
@@wagnerapinheiro I'm not talking about "taste." I'm saying that it is objectively superior if the goal is higher quality signal. You can measure it on an oscilloscope. Science. Objectivity. Facts. ;) If you don't like pixels then you can do whatever post-processing you want but, even then, it is objectively better to start with a pixel-perfect image even if you want to process it and hide the pixels. The problem with mClassic is that it would only work right if it supported the N64's native 240p resolution but the UltraHDMI doesn't even support outputting that (always line-doubled). Instead, it sees a source pixel after it is scaled with at least four times as many pixels so it can only presume that the square shape is intentional detail, which is why their mCable works so much better on higher-resolution modern console games.

"so much"? Ummm. It was marginal at best. But compared to what it SHOULD be then it is basically identical.
I personally hated the over saturation and brightness
The chip markings are scrubbed off.
@@msklywenn The one connected to the MAV-NUS in their installation video is one of three adapter boards meant to deal with the different video DAC/Encoder sizes and pinouts:
One for VDC-NUS (early NTSC video DAC/Encoder with analog RGB output)
One for DENC-NUS (PAL video DAC/Encoder)
One for AVDC-NUS (audio DAC and video DAC/Encoder).

Near impossible to get a N64 or Gamecube controller in decent original shape thanks to them and Smash players.. and all the new 3rd party controllers made for those consoles use those godawful copied mechanisms of Xbox360/PS3 analogue sticks.
You know what you never did? Use a mini hdmi adapter to HDMI on your Ultra HDMI and connect with the mClassic I'm very curious to see how it would be the output of that
Why would you want to reduce pixelization when the original pixels are what you want to get as clear as possible?
@@emmettturner9452 Simple, because not everybody likes the same things. If you like the clear pixels to have that serrated edge cool but there's also people who like as smooth as possible. It's just preference.
@@wagnerapinheiro Yeah, but your preference defeats the purpose. Stick with analog goo if you don't want to see the pixels.
Will you be doing a review soon on the Retrotink 2x mini? I’m thinking of getting it as a drop in replacement for my old dvdo iscan pro , and I’d love to hear your thoughts on their newest product.
Just like most AV to HDMI solutions, the lag is actually minimal but the picture is too dark. Must be related to resistance in the cable? Looks the same as my £10 AV-HDMI box off Amazon
Thanks for the heads-up. Honestly the difference in shading doesn't make too much difference to me since I can just alter colors on the TV if the shade/tint really does start to bother me so -I'll probably buy it anyway, but it IS nice to know exactly what I'm getting regardless. If graphic pallet being a bit off is the only issue and everything else runs fine (which I'm assuming is the case since you made NO mention of sound quality or graphic stuttering or glitching or game compatibility at all and only focused on the colors) then I'll still get it-

Went to their website for more info. Apparently they've been having a LOT of problems with the machines. You apparently got one of the better ones from what I've read. Some of their info hasn't been updated in awhile and other parts don't really make sense. This might have been an elaborate scam rather than an actual kickstarter project. I could be wrong but that's the vibes I'm getting. Even if that's not the case China ain't looking too good right now. Floods, unemployment through the roof, buildings and bridges collapsing...this might go under even if the intentions behind it are legit. Last update was a little over 2 years ago.

I bet the company that sent these for review are now wishing that they didn't 😂
This is one of the reasons why I love you channel . wicked honest review! !
Well that sucks! This could have been a great solution for some people to get that ultra hdmi quality the company was shouting about but it looks like was bogus all along. I appreciate your honesty MJR.
I, personally, don't like the look of the warrior 64 case. The transparent green isn't bad but it looks a lot like a Cyber Truck. I'd probably like it if they took more of a "Low poly N64" approach. Also, it kinda sucks the the video out quality is on par with a Hyperkin cable. Just some of my thoughts.
I mostly dislike aftermarket consoles just because of the casing (for example, I think the Analogue consoles nail in features but hate the product casing). I know that they do this to avoid copyright infringement, but still...
You could see it coming. This has smelled bad for a long time, too good to be true. I think I'll continue with my modded RGB N64 and my Framemeister.
"I think I'll continue with my modded RGB N64 and my Framemeister."
And how much did that set you back? (that's a rhetorical question)
@@CoroaEntertainment Depends on what RGB mod you use and whether you do it yourself or not. The frame meister is over $400 now I think
@@CoroaEntertainment The mod I did it myself. It's a Tim Worthington RGB mod that cost me about € 50. The Framemeister cost me about € 400 more or less plus customs. It is expensive because I use it with 14 consoles so for me it is worth it considering the image quality. So lately Sun connected the N64 RGB modded to a CRT. Of all the consoles that exist, the N64 is the one that benefits the most from a CRT.
Get an RGB mod with VI deblur like Tim Worthington's board. Then use an OSSC or a SNES component cable. Just as good (or better with an ossc) plus you can use it with professional monitors
And how much will all that set a person back? (that's a rhetorical question) ;-)
@@CoroaEntertainment my rhetorical answer would be less than an ultrahdmi if you are paying for install. The mod is more reversible too which is important to some, and it’s all much more readily available.
Well Jason, it looks like you're off their Christmas card list but you did a good job on the honest review, you've just saved a few people some of their hard earned cash!
I know metal jesus eyes had to turn into red gum balls, staring at those bright ass red dots lol.
Send one to bob. Can’t wait to see his review on it.
Bob just posted, it’s on the way. He’ll do a short video.
Intec has been around a while, they’ve always made low quality accessories.
Are you sure its the same company ? This one says Intec Gaming. Wasn't the other one just Intec?
Definitely not the same company. Different logo, different name. Why would a giant Chinese manufacturer start a Kickstarter for another gaming accessory?
I think Intec is also infamous for making a crap Wii KnockOff Console.
These poor N64 upgrade solutions are one of the many reasons why I keep several CRT televisions around in my inventory.
They should honestly just be selling the shell and nothing else. The crappy LevelHike HDMI solution isn't worth a single penny much less what they are trying to charge for it. They knew exactly what they were doing. They knew most consumers wouldn't know the difference between a quality HDMI solution and a crappy one.
oooooooooooooooor. You get a usb adapter, plug it into your pc and rock that goldeneye with fixed textures, or mods that are INCREDIBLE. Metal Jesus, have you tried any of those? The super mario mod forexample so much fun!!!
