    Been saying this for a long time. All they need to do is have a rule what ESC can be used to keep things still in the spirit of “stock” car racing

    • @Dorkyand40
      @Dorkyand40  Місяць тому +1

      Exactly. Let the car shine instead of holding it back.

    Run open motor and open ESC, but keep the stock tires. Let the tire be the power regulator. Only so much you can do with a stock tire!

    For what it's worth, I had the same issue with my Dromida desert buggy(brushed motor) way back; the radio, esc and servo worked fine till they didn't and there wasn't any real repair for it and I don't think Dromida offered a replacement for either at the time. I do remember at the time when I changed to a Hitec servo, Duratrax mini esc and my Futaba 3PRK radio it worked great reached the same conclusion you did in that it didn't give any unfair advantage other than working correctly(used the motor that came with the kit). I'm all for the fun of buy it, charge the battery and go have some fun racing, however it's not the racer's fault the car they got came with subpar electronics and should be able to change to something more reliable. I really wish these companies would either supply better electronics or just sell the car without any electronics with there being so many affordable options now(versus 2015). People get understandably frustrated when the thing they bought turns out to be a dud.

      yeah seems like you can get some sketchy stock electronics no matter what. i suppose as more people get these cars or if they get these cars then there might be some talk but for now i am out numbered at my local tracks despite the 60 comments here that confirm my issue.

    I'm with you. I think you need to be able to tinker with the car a little bit to keep it interesting. I swapped in a HW 1625 (track rules) and it corrected the return to center issue by about 75%. I still need to completely disassemble the front end and do some polishing. I wonder if the smaller ESCs just aren't giving enough juice to the servo to bring it back to center reliably. Might swap in a HW 1060 from another car to see what happens.

    • @Dorkyand40
      @Dorkyand40  Місяць тому

      I’d def clean it all up first. And test at the track. The bench testing is kinda diciving but when you lay it on track you immediately can tell. I think it’s a mix of low power and just shitty protocol implementation because even without wheels on it won’t recenter but you use a good enough radio then it starts speaking the same language and then you got something

    Excellent video, all of them I have one question though. My ring and pinion on my rear end sounds like it is a bicycle with a card in the spokes. It is loud as hell anybody have this problem and what is the solution? I'm going through the bearings and everything like that

    • @Dorkyand40
      @Dorkyand40  Місяць тому

      Make sure those red orings are seeded and that you don’t have an extra long screw going in through the diff case holder.

    Interesting video. I've not had issues with my stock car. Our tracks in northern Florida have a basically stock class and a true mod class. For stock, we allow fluid changes, the optional springs and aftermarket batteries, because a lot of guys already have a few chargers and didn't want to deal with another charger. We just change the ends on the ESC. We also allow a 3D printed bumper to protect the body and prevent it from getting wedged under boards and pipes. In mod, any Losi parts aftermarket ESC, motor, receiver and servo. It seems like the radio was your issue and the ESC change was just to facilitate the radio swap?

    • @Dorkyand40
      @Dorkyand40  Місяць тому

      Wow that’s very liberal. I like it. No I bound 3 various spectrum sky radios from other grooms and all the same. Both cars. Just different say endpoint issues with two different stick escs.

      @@Dorkyand40many of the guys running stock at the four concrete tracks here are very experienced in some form of RC. Dirt Oval, on road, 1RC. There's a contingent of bashers/crawler guys that are trying racing too but they are used to working on cars. We didn't want to limit to box stock, mostly because of the battery/charger situation. I've got the spring set, but I'm running the stock springs.

    Chad, I had to watch this video a few times before I made a real contribution to you comments here. Now that you have put in the time for me, I am buying one of these cars - they look like fun for all ages. However, Spectrum and I have been down this road before with their promises and their firmware. Great people to work with, but they just insist on doing their own thing that never comes to pass - and they just move onto another failure with their next greatest thing. I jumped on board in their beginning and found out the hard way that I could not trust anything they sell; I dumped everything Spectrum I owned years ago.
    Question: you have Dumbo RC Radio and Rcvr in your video description for $32 dollars; for me cheap is good if it works and does not say Spectrum on it - I'm in! I just need something that works; my hands won't know the difference.
    Oh, and Chad - people don't die in RC, so just go up whatever hill you want to and don't worry about it...

      lol..this is all very true my man. i am glad i run a few other classes that at least have established rules over the years and can have a lot of fun. im going to try the cheapo remote to see if it will fix the issue

    I think people forget how expensive "stock" 10th scale racing can get. I agree if the ESC solves the issue and your still running the stock motor then the car is still stock

    $50~$100 is worth it to get the car working right imho . Really want something close to stock class . I’m a novice . I have a Tt02 very worked carbon fiber .Titanium and aluminum all over it . Just getting back into the hobby with nothing except tools . Musta spent $2000 on the car with parts that do and don’t work . I’m not planing on buying 50 cars but I’m getting the losi nascar .

    Great example. You’re right on the rules. Sounds more accessible to new people coming into the hobby (on paper) the reality is they’ll probably leave with a bitter taste in their mouth and a car that gives them a bad experience whilst at the same time as you mentioned, it almost pushes away the people that have probably been long supporting members of the clubs and events. The people that do spend the money and the time cause let’s face it’s often the setup’s that just take time rather than always just money. Recently I’ve discovered most if not all aluminium upgrades actually make the car significantly worse and surprisingly more fragile. These parts are often not machined properly to specs and the fitment is sloppy. The stock plastic parts like hubs and control arms have a way better fit. Not only that but aluminium sounds lightweight but not so. The plastic is considerably lighter and has a certain amount of flex and durability that the aluminium just doesn’t match. Sure it all looks nice but most of us already know power to weight is possibly the most crucial factor. The performance loss with all the added ‘hop up, aluminium, upgrades’ can never be regained. Even if you do add extra power the car will never make a consistent turn. We’re all guilty of it and sure… it does all look rather beautiful but pull out your TT02, all bling, no expenses spared, all out shelf queen and then have a go on a stock TT02 and see which one drives better. Over the years I’ve spent £1000’s of pounds making my cars slower, heavier, delicate often inoperable I know a lot will say I’m silly and aluminium is far superior to the plastic counterparts but if you’ve hit something hard enough to brake the plastic you for sure would have bent some of that nice aluminium. Aluminium doesn’t like to bend nor be bent back. So that’ll be a new piece every time. I wish I had someone show and explain this to me all those years ago. Still enjoying the hobby though that’s the main thing. Especially now I know the true hop up was the stock bits all along. 😂🤣😂 Just need to remember where I threw them all. 🤔 love your vids man. Great view and understanding of the bigger picture. Your cat 🐈‍⬛ is awesome by the way. ✌🏼

      Thank you for taking the time to write such a long comment and for all of the kind words. It is really appreciated. It sounds like you are an experienced racer and you understand things like this and you may have seen more examples of this than I have over the years. We run our TTO2 with just a few modifications so it is basically box stock with just a couple things to improve liability like front drive cups and axles versus the dog bones that can pop out. We also allow bearings. If you go back on the channel, you will see how much time and effort I dedicated to the TTO2 and how much I enjoyed racing it in the oval and on on road it is a great bang for the buck car. that is what makes me so excited for this platform because it is more than half the price for everything you need and it is way more durable and here in America people just love NASCAR. I am holding out. Hope that things will eventually change. I’m still trying to decide if I want to focus more on my other classes or Possibly get new Asc’s from Horizon hobby via warranty to see if Bill I can get a better one that is less fuss I guess the heartbreaker is I was one of the first people to get this and talked about how great it was going to be yet I see all of these people that don’t even race the cars making Rules

    You think it's the output voltage to the servo from the stock esc?

    • @Dorkyand40
      @Dorkyand40  Місяць тому

      Could be one thing but it doesn’t explain the centering issue or why the servo refuses to rotate all 140deg. It just all goes away. The servo performs great now and to think it’s the same as the ones used in crawlers for switching gears lol

    Ok I'm going to play a devils advocate role here. Could the fact the losi Nascar is built more realistic then you think meaning real race teams spend hours fine tuning the chassis in what is a extremely expensive spec series. They get it to the point for that one fast lap. Once in the race you will find thar the real car gets upset by the smallest thing and never go back to that fast lap feeling. Having said that isn't that what the losi car really does. Now I don't think horizon set out for that or even thought of that but if you buy a losi Nascar and have thar mentality during a race nite don't you think it would make the race more fun
    To me it does

    • @Dorkyand40

      my goal is to find a platform that gets people into rc racing. i believe in this platform. if you look at all the comments you will see this is an issue. so it needs adjusted. i want to keep it as low cost and viable as possible. and now that the car does drive correctly i can focus on developing my car for other things. i dont think losi intended these to be raced in this manner at all but here we are so we need to get going and figure it out. a car that is driveable and consistent is way more fun to race then cars flying all around the track. but this is what is great is we can all debate and have our own goals

  • @TastierBackInThe80s

    The adherence to the pure stock class of racing, for this car, seems a little unhinged. Banning things like adjustable camber linkages, even shock fluid changes just seems a bit mental. I see what some clubs are trying to avoid, and trying to put the brakes on pay to win, but sheesh.
