Gentlemen, I feel compelled to say how I fully enjoy the integrity of each of you. Not only are you so well skilled, but remarkably considerate you are of each other. I am no longer a participant of television and the trash it provides. I’m happy to contribute to such channels that show us some fabulously interesting challenges. The sincerity with which you approach the restoration, and the communicating with us, your viewers.😮Truly, the pleasure is ours ! Thank you. ❤❤

Thank you so much for having the lovely music again, I don't know how watching demolition / renovation can be a Zenlike experience, but the music even at its most eclectic always promotes that state for me. It's also quite lovely having Simon as part of the team again, you all bring something unique to the table.

Years ago I worked for a man who owned a large landscape construction business. When he was a child in depression-era Los Angeles he started his first business hand-dragging gas station lots with a 2x4 with magnets attached and pulled by a rope. One penny for 10 nails or screws.

Thanks Simon for showing us the tree rings. If you notice the older one with more rings. Thin rings means less rain. A dendrologist can tell the age of a beam or piece of wood by taking a sample and comparing it to a chart. Can't remember at the moment how far back the chart goes but they have been able to date from 1200BC, pretty cool.

They use magnets like that in the operating rooms. If the instruments counts don’t match at the beginning of the surgery and the end of the surgery, then everything stops until they find the missing instrument. They will run the giant magnet on wheels across the floor to see if they can find the instrument and the pt will also be Xray-ed . Surgery doesn’t end until all the counts match!

The slower growing wood with more rings is better suited for furniture making than framing. It holds up better to carving and sanding since it has a tighter cellular structure. Typically the uglier, more "loose" wood is used for framing.

Fun Fact: did you know that trees are growing faster now compared to 200 years ago, and historical growth rings on trees show an increase in the speed at which they grow. Several factors contribute to this phenomenon:
Increased Atmospheric CO2: Higher levels of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere enhance photosynthesis, allowing trees to grow faster. CO2 is a critical component of photosynthesis, and increased concentrations can lead to more rapid growth.
Warmer Temperatures: Global warming has led to higher average temperatures, which can extend the growing season for trees, allowing them to grow for a more extended period each year.
Nutrient Availability: In some regions, the availability of nutrients like nitrogen has increased due to human activities, such as the use of fertilizers. This can also promote faster tree growth.
The average tree removes 21 KG of carbon from the atmosphere each year, adding more trees and using them in buildings can help reduce the effects of climate change.
In the world today vegetation is on the increase due to CO2 fertilization, Just wonder how long it will be before this balances out the global warming and we begin to head towards the next ice age, which by chance is predicted to be in the next 20,000 to 50,000 years time, we left the last ice age 11,700 years ago, so we have not reached the middle bit yet. I'll let you all draw your own conclusions.
