As for your point with the weathering on the Endor Stormie or the Custom Stormie, I'd say the key difference is the fact that the other two are dirty, while the Remnant Stormie is not. His armor is yellowed and scratched from age, but as we saw on screen, it was relatively clean and glossy. Since the Empire is done, they can't produce new armor as they once did, so troopers stationed on run down planets like Nevarro are stuck in armors that could be decades old, but since they are disciplined soldiers still, I would assume they clean it regularly hence only the scratch marks and yellowing of the white material. If you go back and look at scenes from the Mandalorian you'll see that they absolutely nailed the look of Remnant Stormies. Not to take away from the other two, because they look absolutely great, but it's just a different look. One is dirty and dusty, the other is old, scratched and yellowed, but clean.

4:28 not it’s just an e-11 with a flashlight. The e-22 is similar to it but has 2 barrels at the front. The shore troopers use them.

I agree the custom figure has more detail, but I think your really complaining about how they looked on the show because the mando trooper is more true to what they look like on the show. Watch the show pause it and then make a comparison. Just my 2 cents. Great channel by the way, love all your awesome toys and displays.

Just obtained this figure to add to my sixth scale Mandalorian collection and I do agree, they kind of went a bit heavy on the yellow. I mean I get it, Rust can turn yellow due to very high moisture but they just over did it a tad. Still is a amazing figure to have and goes well with the other characters.

I was thinking the exact same thing about the gloss on this figure. being out in the sandy areas and such for so long, the wind carrying the sand would have long ago worn away that glossy look.

Just got mine looks more detailed in person just wish the rifle was as weathered as the small weapon the larger one looks like it has no weathering. Wish the eyes were transparent with something black behind them to add realism. Better than expected though really happy. Now I want a Luke.

I completely agree with you Justin. The weathering on this Trooper is not good. Its better on others. I really dont like the nicotine yellow weathering around certain areas. It looks to uniformed and doesnt look like sand or whatever.

Th deco on this is supposed to be more like corrosion and paint loss not just dirt. Think vintage refrigerator after cleaning polishing as best you can, there’ll still be corrosion and paint loss, but the shiny parts can still be shined

awesome figure : ) only thing I noted is that the helmet is an r1 helmet and not the anovos helmet . The weathered troopers we see with the client are using anovos helmets and are different than the r1 and this figure uses the r1 helmet . And yes there are some r1 stormtroopers seen in the finale episodes of the mando butt the weathered one we have here is not 100% accurate with the Troopers / Fun fact ! The producers needed a lot of stormtrooper for some scènes in the last 2 episodes and they used 501st stormtroopers ( fans in 100% movie accurate costumes ) to fill up the stormtrooper lines Soo if you watch closely in the background you can see stormtroopers from a new hope return of the Jedi :D I’m part from the 501st in the Netherlands btw its a great hobby 🤩

In that first episode of The Mandolarian, the Remnant stormtroopers weren’t really weathered. They appeared to have more chips and age to their armor, with just a little bit of weathering. So honestly, the Hot Toys version is more screen accurate in my opinion.

looks nice but yeah they could have given it a bit more attention with the weathering. Hopefully the paint apps are a bit more sporadic for each figure otherwise it would look weird having two with the exact same paint application next to each other.

The reason the weathering looks 'specific' is because it's a decal (or maybe masked)/consistent deco not regular handpainting. Notice how the patterns are precisely the same as on the pack art? And if you look at another remnant trooper it will have exactly the same weathering in exactly the same places. Handpainting won't ever do that. And it's glossy because they're supposed to be paint nicks, not just dirt. Which makes complete sense. I'm not sure why people are confused. Although for such a standard figure I agree I'd like a layer of dirt/grime dulling it down in places like the lower legs and shoes. I'm looking forward to old Boba because the weathering there looks AMAZING. Not the usual Adobe illustrator looking stencil stuff we get with Boba (for consistency of course but it's so obvious). In a YEAR + !!!
And what's with your custom one's helmet looking completely different/matte compared to the rest of the body?! Maybe it's just the lights and camera but it sure looks strange on the video.

You didn't mention the pack and even the two shot where they are completely the same. I also forgot about the name 'tampo' - that means something very different in certain cultures!

Hey Justin do you ever do any Q and A segments? I’m curious as to what, if any, leather treatments you do to your hot toys figures? Leather deterioration plays a huge part in many hot toys figure’s life span. I personally use Weiman leather wipes and they work great.

Looks good. To be fair to Hot Toys not going further on the weathering it does match their prototype so I’m happy. I would like to send one of my 2 when I get them to get a custom version. That one of yours is awesome. The remnant does look really close to the show troopers. Crazy this is the only batch. Wonder how TWHK will do this since I ordered a first batch and a second batch.

I like the black speckling, but the yellow discolouration could have been a lot more subtle.

When I say it could have been more subtle, I don't mean that it looks too weathered, just that it looks like it's been painted on, rather than being accumulated dust. I prefered the way they did the Sandtrooper from a few years ago, where the grime was in all the nooks and crannies, rather than just being slapped on in big solid blotches.
Edit: That custom trooper looks way better! (I should probably watch the whole video before commenting next time.)
When I painted my Bandai 1/12 SandTrooper, I began by base-coating the armour a matte off-white, to give it a bleached-bone look.
It came out really well. I will post videos of all my SW models at some point.

So one of the things is the storm troopers even know their remnants still care for their armor as much as possible. They keep it as clean as possible so shiny spots And some scuffed up marks they just can’t get clean anymore without replacing it so they keep it as clean as possible

Really want to get 4... But I have 3 ordered already and I'm get six Death Troopers and 2 Deluxe Scout Troopers with Speeder bikes. If I don't get 4th Remnant Trooper, ill just use my ROTJ Trooper as my 4th lol.

Like everyone else says, I don’t think it’s weathering. It’s like chipped enamel and age staining like old Gi joe storm shadows have done. The white has turned yellow. That’s the best the soldiers can clean them up without new manufacturing for the empire.

Justin's Collection i opened the remnant today it is an awesome figure I had one problem ! Idk if you May had it before ? The stand that goes between the legs didn’t fit with the stand base itself ! It lit didn’t fit in the hole! Just to big ! So I switched it with the stand from the sith trooper ! Idk how this could happen but if I didn’t have the sith trooper I would have a big problem

I agree about the glossiness of the troopers, it seems a little out of place when they are 'weathered' - however, I thought the same thing about the troopers in the show. It might be odd, but it's accurate. :-D

This was first review I have watched by you. I got this figure yesterday and its my first Hot Toys 1/6 and i really love it. I am not used to the posing yet.(I normally have just bought statues in the past.) I do really like the armor and my sucky pose is still nice. XP I pre-ordered the Ashoka Tano figure and heh have like 4 others I am thinking about getting. I was wondering would you suggest getting the Mandolorian one upcoming in next few months or getting the Mando with Beskar armor one coming next year with the child?
Too hard to say but the better value is definitely Beskar!

From that line I plan to get 4, One of mando Heavy Infantry, one Mandalorian, and one other trooper type. I will get Moff Gideon if they do him later with Darksaber.
Gotta rewatch the Mandalorian Justin, the troopers were still glossy and not nearly as dirty as you’d like them to be. I’d say hot toys was pretty accurate to how they looked in the show.
ILikeHipHop93 Gideon’s troops were in better shape than the stormtroopers used by a The Client. The HT figure is based on those.

Somehow the neck is too long.. even anatomically talking the low part of the helmet is longer than the jaw level almost touching the shoulders (as your Rogue One ST).. but still cool.. the paint app doesn't look watered in a natural way (the dusty paint app doesn't work with a shiny coat) as other hot toys products.
Yeah seems they used the longer neck pegs used on the Jedha patrol troopers that had the shoulder pauldron. I’m gonna try and find a shorter neck peg for my 2.
