2014-2015 can be manual swapped with the same transmission from the 370z, the VR30 transmission in Q50-Q60 can handle more power due to upgraded valve body and torque converter. They can handle 600whp with no issues.
The 2018 models did not come with apple play/android like the newer models. The stereo was also updated on the 2022 models and added power steering wheel tilt. The updated facelift and rear upgrades gives the Q a wider stance for the newer models. For the most part, the car hasn't changed drastically.
This is in reference to the Traction Concepts LSD. What are the torque specs for the rear 3 bolts that connect the rear differential propeller flange to the driveshaft? I cannot find these numbers anywhere……
It seems that the 2016+ is relatively clear of transmission issues. I believe I mentioned that. However, we have been hearing of some valve body failures on 2016 Q50s and QX50s lately. I personally have not heard of any 2017+ failures yet.
My 15' q50s 3.7 AWD has 150k miles on it and still on OEM valve body and transmission. However i do make sure that I do a drain and fill for trans fluid every year. I also do abuse the car and track it a few times every year. But I keep up on maintainence and so far nothing has broken down on me
I'd say 2019 & up if you're looking into a 3.0t, 2016-2018 there's a known casting issue with the engine block being porous/ having air pockets that leads to coolant loss. I believe after 2018 they fixed that issue
@@SpeedCultureStudios I've read about a lot of issues non tuned turbos failing at as little as 18k. Seems infiniti never really got a fix for it. Its kept me from buying one. Also read about cooling issues too.
Lol classic myth. Im the original owner of a 2018 Q 50 S. 6 years of ownership and the car has been FBO + tune since day 1. Zero issues. Just change the oil regularly and dont push it right after a cold start
I have my 2016 q50 redsport motor blew last year at 129,000 miles. Piston Rings were going out and it blew up in the shop, but I’m also FBO catless pushing like close to 570whp and 500trq on stock turbos. But turbos never blew. I used 5w-30 oil but I now use 5w-40 Castrol carbon neutral. I say let car warm up Infiniti master tech say don’t let car idle and sit too long for excessive amount of time and use a thicker oil. Also check/smell your oil if it smell like gasoline might need to use thicker oil due to the thinner oil is mixing too much with gasoline.
Here’s my stance. No one in the Nissan community complained about the G37 coupe/sedan being the same car from 2008-2014. But as soon as the Q50 dropped, we wanted it to be replaced. The 3.7 may be considered a slower NA motor but it kept up with and in most cases beat its competitors at the time. The Q50 being released with less power out the gate was truly disappointing. Finally Q50s never could keep up with the competition during its era.
I beg to differ-a lot of people complained about the G staying the same-including myself. I’m not sure who wanted the Q to be replaced right away 😂 It’s still widely considered a very sleek timeless design. The interior has dated now with no real since the beginning-that’s a legit gripe. I also don’t think the 3.7 was considered a slow NA car-it was and still is quicker than most cars you’ll see in a daily commute. And it’s 10 years old now! And what do you mean being released with less power out the gate? And what era are you referring to? The 3.7 q50 existed for only 2 years. The 3.0t q50 is quite stout.
Cant beat the sound of our 3.7 VQ engine...absolutely wonderful!!
Agree and dissagree

3.0t is crazy tune only gets low 400s whp. Transmission can handle 650 torque and handle 800+ whp.

I see the hustle 💪🏼
Any free moment!
Wireless Apple Carplay makes the dual scren setup useful.
Q50 content: 👍🏽
The 2022 and up Q50 red sport mid pipes was revised for better sound

I believe 54 ft lbs. if you look at the install instructions for the z1 motorsports driveshaft it states 54ft-lbs for those 3 bolts
Awesome. Thanks a lot!
Nice presentation !! Does the 2018 plus still have transmission issues?

I feel like the 3.7 is just a lil more rotating mass and that what’s being so hard on the trans
The 3.0T has a much larger torque converter and bell housing. Other then that I am not familiar with other differences.
Love this car!
My 2018 transmission went out. Lost reverse gear. Covered under warranty
3.0t ~65000 miles
Im thinking of buying a q50 did you get yours brand new?
We're u beating the shit out the car
if a 2017 3.0t is kinda skipping around in the lower gears could it be due to a trans valve body?
Very well could be. Yes. Might want to have it diagnosed. Or have trans fluid changed to see if it makes a difference first.
Hey great vid....how long do the hybrid battery last...or have u seen any with hybrid problems
I never hear you give the hybrid q50 no luv 😢
Most everything applies to them as well other than the tuning stuff
Just bought a 2015 3.7 q50 used at 108k, should I be worried about the transmission giving me trouble? If so what can I do to prolong issues
You can’t prolong it. It just seems to happen. Just pay attention to it.
Is the valve body not the transmission
@@Lynwood2888 valve body is a component of the transmission, yes. Is that your question?
which is best model and year to get

kinda makes me wanna upgrade from a 3.7 to 3.0
The 3.0T has turbo issues
I don't know if it is a wide spread issue, honestly. We have heard of some turbo failures, but more often than not it seems to be mod/tune related.
