Sometimes the market price of a bus isn't important. He got a great bus cheap because of deferred maintenance. Instead of guessing what a previous owner did or didn't do, he can now be sure that the improvements will be done correctly. Since he's keeping the bus, it is money well spent.

@@turboford4145 Damn straight! The Left (and most of the Sheeple) don't grasp that every conversion of energy from one form to another creates losses. EVs will be pulling power from an electric grid that already has substantial losses; from the power plant generators to the charging station. The DOE (Dept of Energy) should impose a moratorium on new charging stations until a study is done on where the grid is already at capacity and where it will be O.K. for another 10 years or so.
That said, EVs *COULD* be feasible but, they must be made and marketed as LOCAL COMMUTERS and nothing more. Charge your car in your driveway and your driving radius should be 50 miles from home. With that limitation, we might be able to handle a few EVs.
Finally, EV's are overequipped with too much high tech crap. I heard that you have to have your smart phone and special app to use a Tesla! F-KTHAT! Plus, all that internet connectivity is just BEGGING to be used as a satellite backdoor for the Feds to turn off your car if they don't like you.

It looks like a lot of hard and heavy work that goes into these buses and I applaud you for being so knowledgeable in finding the issues. So if I ever buy one, it's going to you to fix. Also, I have to confess, the smell of a diesel bus brings me back to a time that I will never forget. So every time one of these buses passes by I smell those fumes and it takes me back. The 6V92 was a great engine and was the only engine that Greyhound used from about 1980 until the Series 50 appeared in the MC12 in the mid-90's. These 6V92 engines had good power and would easily run 6, 7 or even 800,000 miles before needing a rebuild.

I've done some more superficial inspections on 4stroke diesel engined buses, some of them had a bad oil seal on the turbo, causing the intercooler to fill up with oil. Draining the intercooler was therefore a standard inspection on this type of engine.
