I definitely want a part two! The one who got away was the eldest daughter who went away for college, and the one who got it the worst must be the eldest son. We can all agree the partner is a snake oil salesman/con woman and won’t hesitate to turn on her associates. From my understanding, her marriage and having the kids was all calculated for her own twisted agenda. Luckily for us, she can’t get away with it anymore because that woman is a menace to both society and a disgrace to motherhood as a whole, and I’m not even a mom.

This case disgusts me. She made millions of dollars off abusing her children on UA-cam. Those kids could’ve died. Also the child that left was the “golden child” her oldest daughter who advocated for her siblings since she left.
Kids aren’t safe.
From what I’ve read, those poor kids were starved and dehydrated, duct taped, and tied with ropes. They had lacerations so deep they had to go to the hospital for medical care. Like chick was recording a video while her kids were literally tied up 😭 Wtaf And yes, the oldest daughter had already moved out and she hs addressed it already saying she’s happy her mom is finally been arrested and that she and her siblings have been trying to tell the authorities for years that they were being abused.
If the authorities were ignoring them, I’m curious why she never went public with the accusations (the oldest daughter)

Wow.....I still don't understand if the oldest daughter was worried about her siblings and went to the authorities why didn't they respond?!?!?! I hope those kids eventually get a settlement. And the Dad knew about the abuse, was in the home, and did nothing?!?!?! So he's an accomplice right?!
@@teresa3940 yeah I feel that and understand that, but unfortunately if this family has some type of high level Mormon Utah connections that prevented CPS/the police from investigating based on the siblings report, this could have ended so much worse. The child running away while showing visible injuries from the restraints probably saved all of their lives. The one benefit to their situation is the kids are famous and have a platform, so the public pressuring the police to do something is probably the only way Justice will be served properly

One of her sons, was sent to a camp for misbehavior. My daughter said it was a conversion camp. I think she is right and so are you. I hope he can free himself and live the life he wants. The younger son escaped. He had open wounds caused by rope binding and duct tape on his ankles, wrists, face. She sounds like a sadist, and her friend and her seem to fuel each other. Her older daughter came forward and said they were glad she was arrested and that the kids were safe now.
I remember feeling so bad for that young man when they sent him away. I couldn't figure out why they would do that. He seemed like a good kid.
Ohh yeah that wilderness camp or whatever it’s called. I heard really bad things about those types of camps as well from people who went.
It was for drugs and gay camps and he doesn't look like a drugs attack and I thought that part was weird 🤔
As I recall he was sent away for pranking his little brother. For saying something like we're going to Disneyland when they in fact where not going to Disneyland.
They have also released that they found in the home an object matching up to the wounds on the kids. So they were being beat so hard it's left actual lacerations and even bounded and other beginning to be infected all needed IMMEDIATE medical attention and care. Smh We all keep forgetting middle daughters esp the young of the 2 was also found in that home and were in similar condtion.

Looking back, I think there was always something a bit off with her, she was always strict and controlling with the kids but she definitely started to get worse when Jodi came into the picture. I think things got a lot worse after Shari left for college and Ruby and Jodi went all in with the Connexions stuff. So heartbreaking. Years ago ruby hooked up with Jodi and decided to become a “life coach” through Jodi’s “program.” Jodi was also playing “therapist” to their family, and was the push behind sending their oldest son (chad) to a wilderness camp. It seemed to then slowly get worse and more extreme.

The first thing I saw during their first videos was having Shari share bed with Eve. Eve was around two years and Ruby forced Shari to sleep with her so she didn't have to wake up during nightd. They had the money but she forced them to sleep in the same bed and Shari didn't like sharing beds with a toddler.

Jodie's niece has blogged all about her torture at the hands of her Aunty. So she is just as capable of this behaviour and was probably behind the duct tape idea as she did it to the niece. She also escaped. Literally. I would love a reading on her too.

The “mother” gave me the vibes of someone regretting being a mother right away or at least having a distorted view of motherhood. Unfortunately, it’s a product of Utah and Mormon teachings. I grew up there and the amount of child deaths from neglect/accidents was heart breaking. Most of the homes had 6+ kids too

It’s interesting that everyone got it 10x worse” after Shari left. I remember from the videos Ruby would go on and on that the kids NEEDED to be out of the house at her age like she was overly excited about it.
It was speculated that Chad was sent to wilderness camp for “behaviors” at 13/14 some believe it had to do with his sexuality.
Yeah she probably excited they were leaving she just didn't expect shari to cut her off and get in contact with her extended fanily that probably made her wany to make them dependent on her to prevent the loss of power
Chad definitely got harsh punishment as if they wanted to make him more masculine and tough.
That’s what usually happens in narcissistic situations as this when one leaves the others get the abuse more or worse cuz they feel like they lost and no longer have control on them so it makes them more out of control if that makes sense.

I work as a journalist in Utah and I was raised in the Mormon church, so I can perhaps give a bit more insight to the details you gave here.
Before I give my two cents, I do want to put out that the father WAS NOT arrested but has been removed from his position as a professor at BYU since the end of spring semester.
-When you picked up on her energy thinking that children/housewife lifestyle is a burden and did not get joy out of it, I can 100% believe that, as most young women within the church, from the moment they turn 18 are told the best thing you can do for yourself is find a husband, get married, and have children and life will be bliss. You take care of the children that you brought into this world for your husband, and in turn, your husband will provide for you financially (A transaction as you called it). Most young adult women don’t really understand what being a mother entails, and you can see how they slowly start to resent everyone and everything around them realizing they did not get to live the life they wanted.
Though I will say that completely being detached from her children is a Ruby thing.
-”Created from her environment”. I don’t know her dynamic with her family as a child, but what I can tell you is that in the Caucasian Mormon Sunday services, the energy… feels off because it almost feels like a competition of who has the better hair and the better Sunday wardrobe, which breeds a lot of narcissists. It’s a competition of who has the better “Christ-like” family, of which child you can parade around (kind of similar to Asian moms when their child gets a great achievement or accomplishment and that is what they rub in the face of other moms. I would know cause I’m Asian), which could be why Ruby was putting her own children against each other.
-I believe the child that left first was the oldest daughter and she was not okay with it. That is solely a Ruby thing that I’m guessing stems from her resentment of not being allowed to do what she wanted when she was her daughter’s age.
-I don’t know if any of the children are gay, but I felt like Ruby was trying to cover something up when she sent her oldest son to a behavioral camp. I have never heard of a camp, but know of many behavioral schools here in Utah b/c that’s where the Caucasian Mormons would send their children who started showing signs homosexuality. This is something the police are looking into.
-What you said about Ruby wanting stricter rules than her religion is SO TRUE. Look, there are many guidelines that the church has and Caucasians love to follow to a tea, but whatever Ruby was doing to those children was once again, a Ruby thing.
-Her upbringing could have been that she was the prettiest and shiniest lady of her sisters and possibly her congregation and that triggered her narcissistic self, or she could have been the wild daughter but her wild nature was nipped before she had a chance to get to know herself. From what I hear of these Caucasian streets, Ruby’s husband is related to one of the famous Mormons, or was well off, so he was a catch and Ruby just knew how to play her cards right.

My mother is a narcissist and even though I haven’t had a lot of the extreme things happen to me that Ruby is accused of doing to her kids (being tied up, being malnourished, etc) there has been still been abuse in my past because of her and the energy I had to deal with reminds me of what you read today. My dad was also absent in the way you described Ruby’s husband here. He would go on his computer and ignore my mother’s tantrums and what she was doing. Definitely a very similar energy there. I would actually argue and have done research on how narcissism is a type of psychopathic behavior, which would explain why you felt so creeped out and why you felt like Ruby was a “monster child”. The psychopathic nature that you felt with Ruby’s businesswoman is another type of psychopath. I encourage everyone to google and do research on how narcissism and psychopathy are linked. same. i grew up with a narc mum and absent dad. A lot of this reading reminded me of my life with my mum, i kept saying yup, that's a typical narc! I feel for those poor kids and hope they will find the help they need to heal and be safe.
My Mom was also a narc. She wasn't physically abusive but definitely mentally and emotionally and horrifically. I literally left home at 14 years old. She completely smeared me to my entire family and they wouldn't help me one bit. She turned our home into a shooting gallery bc she was selling H. Such a sh*t show.
One of my exs is a diagnosed psychopath who literally has his degree in psychology, another one of my ex’s has NPD (I’m an empath w/a bipolar father lucky me they’re drawn to me) they’re very different similar in some ways but different. I can promise you nothing compares to the horrors of having a true psychopath in your life. He makes my NPD ex seem like a bunny. He killed animals, I didn’t find out about this obviously until long after we had gotten together and it was too late. He’s legit a future murderer. He stalked me for over 7 years, I moved. This is the longest I haven’t heard from him and it scares me. Please don’t relate the two that much because there’s huge differences.

The oldest of the kids is their daughter Shari. Before she went off to college she was basically "mini-Ruby". Everyone expected her to end up just like her mother, but our surprise(and probably her parents too) she didn't. She basically did what she felt was necessary to survive in that house. I don't believe any of the children showed signs of being gay, but if they did it must've been edited out. Their oldest son Chad was a rebellious teen, and they even had him sent to one of those children's behavioural camps when he was 14. When he came back that was around the time the family first went mega viral around 5 years ago.
A Narcissist and Psychopath teaming up together is absolutely frightening.

Shari is living her best life right now with her aunts and uncles being so supportive. She was the "golden child" and Ruby's right hand. I'm sure she's upset about Shari no chose no contact with her.
The reason you see the dad being “gone” is because Ruby’s business partner has now been discovered that she encouraged MANY of her couples that were clients, to have the husband leave the relationship!!! And around the time Ruby joined “forces” with her new business partner, convinced him to leave…..she LOVES to inflict pain and your BOMBSHELL prediction as you you may now know…. I recall seeing all this years ago and that woman absolutely hates her children, hated being mom but pressured to do so by her religion. I believe she's the one that made her 5 year old go to school without food because it was the child's responsibility to prepare and bring her own meals and she went nuts when the teachers tried to give her food. Dad just let her do whatever. You hit the nail on the head, so glad she's getting some kind of legal repercussion.
The most insane thing is that she did and admitted most of this on camera and no one did anything about it.
I saw on tiktok how she didn’t let her kids eat until the chores were all done and kitchen was closed no snacking .she’s a disgusting human being

And yes, in a little podcast type thing she has with this women named Jodi, they talked about how it's not ok for your child to be homosexual, that you shouldn't love them if they are, and it's honestly just terrible to even hear.
I hadn't heard about her til I saw a news stories a few months ago that she didn't bring her 6 year old daughter lunch because her daughter forgot to pack it so she let her go hungry. She also said she doesn't feed her kids til they get their chores done and they're told they can't have breakfast til they finish their chores. So I'm not surprised the children were starving and malnourished, she treats feeding them like food is a privilege to be earned and not a priority.

I don't watch 8 Passengers, but have heard of them. And I have to say, as a former Mormon, your reading was SO on point to that lived experience and culture (even with the abuse aside). Also as a former Mormon, based on research, I describe the religion as a high-demand authoritarian religion with cult tendencies, which unfortunately leads to a lot of unhealthy behaviors in some members. She threatens to take away food privileges, told her 5 y/o child that she was responsible for her lunch and when the teacher called because she forgot her lunch, ruby told her too bad. Your picture about the dad being in the other room on his computer is EXACTLY like their vlogs. He’s always in his office. Also when shari left and went to college, she spoke out about being against her mother. And the other oldest lives with the dad now after the parents split, so the youngest we’re getting the abuse that led her to being arrested. Incredible reading Ant. I believe they send their oldest son to a camp because he had a “situation “ aka something to do with being gay. When he went back to the house they made him sleep on the floor for like 6 months and didn’t have any privacy for example no doors on the bathroom. Narcissistic, psicopath. The 12 year old boy that escaped was always called out for being "different" from his siblings. Knowing now that he was found with duct tape around his wrists and ankles, along with him being emaciated, these "differences" could have led him to being targeted more.

I had post partum anxiety. But was connected with my babies. C sections are hell and take a while to heal from. It’s full blown surgery. They don’t tell you how intense it is to heal from
I feel so lucky KY I had 3 c sections and my first doctor prepared me like crazy and did the same for my oldest and now my youngest. After my oldest c section they told her they have never seen anyone so prepared.

So, there is the assumption that she especially disliked those two younger kids. But from what I saw over the last years in their vlogs, she hated all of them. Honestly, having grown up in Utah as a Mormon, I completely understand how this happened. Family and having children is HEAVILY pushed and women are pressured to be mothers. Many of my peers got married literally right after high school or while in college. Not knowing what motherhood would be like is COMPLETELY believable because the Mormon culture is very much so "we present as perfect happy families and keep everything dark hidden behind curtains and closed doors." Thankfully my family was a good one and my mother didn't force me back into it when I begged to not go to church anymore. She cared more about my mental health and wellbeing than she did about the church. That is not the case for most of them. I never wanted children and still don't in my 30s. I knew that about myself very early on and had the backbone to never give in to others (boyfriends, family members, DOCTORS) encouraging me to have children eventually. Literally everywhere you turn in Utah you are encouraged to have children. It's so ridiculous.
All that being said... it explains how she became a mother without knowing the reality of how difficult it is. But she is still a monster anyhow and that is just a fact. Once she realized she didn't like being a mother, she should have stopped having children. If she's the one "wearing the pants" in the relationship, then there's no reason why she couldn't have gotten on birth control and/or her husband get a vasectomy. Or she could have gotten a tubal ligation since doctors are more willing to do that once you have kids. Maybe she did ask and kept getting pushback. That's believable, too. But if you hate your life so much that you're taking it out on your defenseless children, ask for help. As much as I hate the religion after growing up with it and escaping it, one thing they do get right (when they don't go off the deep end like she did) is supporting family. I would bet a hundred bucks that at least a handful of family members would have been willing to have the children live with them if that's what it took to keep them safe from her. I am so glad that they were taken from her and rescued from that abusive situation. They never deserved to be stuck with a parent like her and a father willing to let her do that to them and they're all now traumatized. May their futures be much brighter from here on out, and may both of the parents suffer the highest of consequences possible for traumatizing and abusing the children/letting it happen.
I'm from Scotland and we're taught in school that the Mormons are a cult. We don't have mormons here, maybe a faction group but yeah. I am BLOWN AWAY that this is a legitimate religion in the U.S.... I think it's only the U.S. that accepts it as an organized religion

CPS and other people have looked into allegations of abuse, but they weren't taken seriously. Ruby has gotten a lot worse around Jodi. I want to know more about what was going on throughout the period of the Ruby and her husband separating, and what Connexions(Jodi's cult) entailed. What was their agenda against the kids and their followers? Were Ruby and Jodi more than just business partners? What will the timeline of this case be? I’m glad those kids have finally been saved. The mom’s sisters and older daughter have all been fighting for this to happen, but they’ve been ignored for years. The mom seems to have a whacked out cult mindset and it’s truly scary. I remember seeing a video where they were almost in an accident and all the kids were crying while she was telling them that they all should be dead, or should have been part of the crash, but they weren’t because they prayed that morning and were good. The mental hell she put them through was awful. You could tell she was trying not to smile the whole time too. She was loving every minute of it.
A part 2 (if and when more comes out) would be very interesting and I would absolutely watch. Great video Ant, happy those kids are safe now.

And YES it was all transactional! The father is a woo-hoo addict and he was always absent. The youngest son was the sweetest and really sensitive, but she tried to change him. She signed him up for wrestling and was so hard on him for the smallest offenses. When he forgot his sock she would make him to push ups. If the kids didn’t cry during their punishments she would pile on stuff. She wanted to break those kids.

You are so spot on and speaking the truth. Not only does she not have sentimental attachment and resent them, but she doesn't even like them and acts disgusted by them. She has said that a parent's love for their child IS conditional and their relationships were all transactional. Her and Jodi are straight up running a cult fr though. Ruby had a detailed list of all of the qualities that her future man HAD to have. She would physically check off each box when she’d go on a date. She made it when she was young. Supposedly the story is that Kevin saw the list and made sure to check all of the boxes (or make her think that he did). Russell, the son who jumped out the window for help, was always very emotional and cried a lot. I specifically remember her telling him things like “be a man.” Like when he was doing swimming lessons. Chad (the second oldest) was always treated like total crap, even before ruby got involved in the cult. He was sent to a wilderness camp, lost phones/“privileges,” didn’t have a bed or bedroom for over half of a year and was forced to sleep on the hard wood living room floor or a beanbag, and had his bathroom door removed. The oldest sister (Shari) was a mini ruby when living in the house, and then left for college (and now seems better, and is actively fighting for her siblings). Shari was the golden /favored child. The father was very absent, and it often seemed like ruby was parenting the kids alone. He also was rumored to have oddly close relationships with his students at the college he worked at. Ruby’s parents and siblings are all very odd as well.

The business partner used a tactic regularly (others coming forward) where she isolated people from their family, particularly women from their husbands, by saying something like "you need to separate and grow on your own before you come back together stronger" so you may not be picking up on the dad because at some point it seems that he was genuinely absent. it's not only what he says but it fits the pattern of abuse from the business partner. not saying the husband isn't culpable because he definitely knew about some of the abuse stuff leading up, but it seems like he was also absent for some time in the end and isolated from his wife and kids.
i'm also not sure of the timing on this but one of the business partner's nieces came forward and said a lot of disturbing things were done to her, one LITERALLY being that she "had the devil inside her" and that she was evil - when you pulled the devil card and said that i was like oh my god. but the business partner is definitely cold and probably psychopathic - the way she's been duct taping and abusing (physically and psychologically) for years is just evil.
My daughters father would pull the “it’s her responsibility to wake up for school” card during quarantine. I’d get up and get ready for work. Wake up my daughter gave her breakfast and then I’d let her dad know I was leaving but he’s stay asleep so my daughter wouldn’t log in to her zoom classes and then would blame her for missing class because it’s her classes not his.
Omg! I’m rewatching this video and I was just watching a guy who does statement analysis and he totally thinks Ruby Frank is a sadist. So when you said “why do you like to inflict pain?” it totally made sense.
