You started by turning too steeply, turning yourself outside the thermal.
And after that not paying attention to the thread on the canopy. The thread clearly indicated a thermal on the left. You should have applied more left rudder.

That's true, it was to steep and a bit uncoordinated. The lift requirement with a 60 deg bank btw. is 2 times greater than during level flight, so high banking should rather be minimised when looking for a good rate od climb
