Thanks for the straight shooting. Your video saved me from trying to Ipilot with a helix5 g2.
Excellent!
Straight to the point! Thank you for the videos!
In the 1st 45 seconds you matter of factly stated info i needed. I was given a helix g3, not g3n. Was hoping to network it but seems all I can do with it is use it independently with its own xducer. The rest of video is great too. Thanks
Sorry to hear you didn't get a networking model...thanks for the kind words
Great video. Quick and to the point 👍
Thanks for taking the time to comment!
Thank you soooooo much....straight forward and to the point!!! Helped me tremendously!!!
Awesome to hear it helped. Thanks for the message!
Great video John!
Thanks for the videos
Simple and great info , wish someone would do one for garmin 93sv to xi3 motorguide
Doing this right now! Thank you Sir! Great video!
Thanks!
Great video! It's too bad they couldn't connect wirelessly. Both the Minn Kota and the new Humminbirds have wireless capabilities.
Thank you...Oh I agree 100% and it will happen at some point
So I have a Helix 7 with Bluetooth that I can connect to my phone... Cannon (whatever that is), Talon (???), Raptor (???), & wireless remote, but no option to connect to a trolling motor?
I have the Minn-kota Riptide Terrova with I-Pilot Link brand new just got it a week ago?
Any way to connect via Bluetooth?
I do have the cables he shows in the video if Bluetooth doesn't work.
Can I buy a Ethernet extension? I bought my boat secondhand and the trolling motor has a short jumper attached nothing long enough to reach the console
@@kyleheiser6622 yes you can..for Ethernet the extension is 760025-1 AS ECX 30E
Great job thanks
Thanks Joe!
awsome thank you sure
So I have the ulterra with the built in MDI tranducer hooked to my Helix 7 G4N at the bow. But I want to run a MSI Helix 7 separately at the helm and link the 2 Helix units. Do I need the Ethernet switch to do this?
Quick answer is no. Just two AS EC QDE adapters and one ethernet cable will allow the two units to share transducers and waypoints. Be sure the 7 MSI is a networking unit though (G4N, not G4) Now if your motor is a "Link" motor and you want that communicating as well, then you will need and Ethernet switch.
It doesn't need to be Network Helix. I use a Helix 7 G4 linked into my Terrova. I use it for 2D and routes because the Minn kota Terrova needs map to follow One Boat APP waypoints and other features like routes. The only pain is uploading the information via memory card. It definitely wound be nice to connect wi-fi to update the information directly into Hummingbird, but it's still possible. I import and export information back and forth with my Garmin and minn kota app no problems. I just had to direct connect Hummingbird to follow my routes for trolling. This is my go around so I can use my Garmin and Minn kota.
Sounds like the easiest way is a networking Humminbird connected through ethernet
I bought the same trolling motor with G4N Helix 9. I love it! However I do not know what to do with the US2 cable. I currently have it zip tied to the motor. What do I do with it? There is little info.
If you want to see the motors transducer on that Helix 9 you just need the MKR-US2-8 adapter and it will plug right in. There should have been a sticker on the outside of the motor box explaining this
How do I connect a helix 9 g4n to mdi transducer on my ultrex trolling motor and also to my transducer on my transom with Side/down Imaging ? Thank you.
Is your Humminbird 2D, MDI, MSI?
Good video, my problem is the cord on the motor is too short to make it to the head unit by the driver's seat, so I bought an ethernet extension but that cord has two female ends. Do I need a third adapter of some sort? Thanks for the help.
Thanks..sounds like you got an ethernet cable, not an extension. There is only one extension.760025-1 AS ECX 30E..It comes with all Link motors
I got the cables you mentioned and then the extension cord to run to hummingbird at console but then I get to trolling motor and they are the same end. Is their an adaptor to connect the two? Thanks in advance.
It sounds like you got a longer ethernet cable , not the extension. The only ethernet extension available is 760025-1 AS ECX 30E
does the 14 pin connecter supply 12 volts to the hummingbird helix
No
Question: I Bought a Gen 1 helix 9. Can I connect that to a older Terrova 101/us2 60” w/LINK?
Yes you can...be sure to update all software minnkota.johnsonoutdoors.com/us/support/compatibility/link
So I have a Helix 7 G3N with Bluetooth that I can connect to my phone, done that... Cannon (whatever that is), Talon (???), Raptor (???), & wireless remote, but no option to connect to a trolling motor?
I have the Minn-kota Riptide Terrova with I-Pilot Link brand new just got it a week ago?
Any way to connect via Bluetooth?
I do have the cables you show in the video if Bluetooth doesn't work
Controlling the motor through the sonar requires an ethernet connection. I don't believe Bluetooth is stable enough to handle all that data
just bought a Helix 10 SI GPS from a guy on FB (got a STEAL for it) - all I am trying to do is have the trolling motor drive itself within specified contour depths, not going to use any of the sonar features. Will that unit work or no? I have a 2021 Minn Kota Trolling Motor Terrova 112/DI/Iplink-60" (model 1358837).
If it is G2N it will work once connected through ethernet and all software is up to date
Im looking at buying a Terranova with Ipilot Link with Mega Imaging Transducer installed.
I have a Humminbird HELIX 10 CHIRP MEGA SI GPS G4N Fish so it has a better transducer due to the side imaging.
My questions is can I connect the Helix transducer instead of using the built in one that doesnt have side imaging?
You can plug in whatever transducer you want want but the transducers in the motors are amazing....either way you are good to go
@johnnoel2042 I don't doubt the built in transducer, just sadly the trolling motor I was looking at doesn't have SI while my current transducer does. Thank you for the information!
@johnnoel2042 Do you know how well the built in transducers hold up? I do a lot of shallow fishing, and im worried about it getting damaged and being beyond repair.
@@justinm5211 They hold up great. I only bass fish, often in very shallow water. However, the face of the ducer is not made to be grinded in to rocks...none are
So I have a mega di transducer on my terrova does that mean I cannot use that transducer on my mega di + unit ?
you won't get DI+but should get DI
Will
The new quest pair with a G2N 10? And a G3N 8 both mega Si/DI..want to run my livescope off them
Yes through ethernet, but not Livescope...only Mega Live
I have the 4g on the new hummingbird and have just upgraded my Minnkota with the new ipilot gps head! It has Bluetooth on it as well! How does this work now?
If it is an iPilot Link this video explains it
Just a question. What about power to the Helix ? Or does power come from the motor on the Ethernet cable. Thank you
Helix has it's own power cable and it needs to be used
@@principleoutdoors8932 I kinda thought so. Thanks 👍🏻
@@principleoutdoors8932 Can I run the power cable to my master power switch, or run direct to my battery ?
@@brett_Thorpe both are fine but I go to a fusebox, to a dedicated electronic battery
@@principleoutdoors8932 ok sounds good. I’ll run the cable to the master switch, which has a fuse box under the dash. I believe. My boat is a new Lund. Yet to see the water. Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.
I have a Built in Mega DI Transducer on a Terrova. Anyone know the adapter number to connect the Ethernet cable to the MDI trolling motor transducer cable? It came with the ethernet to 5 pin adapter to connect to the Helix G4N but nothing for the transducer side. Or do I need to get an ethernet switch? Or is there an extension cable for the MDI extension cable to go to the 5 pin?
Ethernet cables don't connect to a transducer cable. There are no adapters.
@@principleoutdoors8932 thanks this is a Advanced GPS Trolling Motor. I did t see the ETH connector in the TM head. So has 2 cables ETH and Transducer cable
everything connects and the Helix says Trolling Motor connected, but none of the control functions have any effect on the motor. Minn Kota Riptide Instinct Quest - Hummingbird Helix 7in G4N
be sure that all updates on motor and sonar are up to the latest...even if they are brand new...if still problems, best bet is to call customer service
What do I need to hook to a solix 10 ? Same cable just different pig tail ?
If your motor has an MDI or MSI transducer you do not need any adapters
@@principleoutdoors8932 that will allow me to control it from the graph correct? I ordered a cable thought it was the right one but wasn’t so trying not to lose anymore money then I have already
@@trystinthrelkeld9957 my apologies, I was referring to the transducer which has nothing to do with controlling the motor from the sonar. God news is, If your motor is iPilot "Link" you can take the ethernet cable and plug right in to the back of the Solix...no adapter
@@principleoutdoors8932 ok will order the extension cable thank you sorry for the confusion no videos for the solix units just the helix wasn’t sure if anything was different or not thank you for your time !!
Helix 10 G4N with MEGA SI+ & MEGA DI+, can I connect this to my Terrova MDI with IPLINK? Can I use all 3 of these transducers at once or do I have to unplug the trolling motor and plug in the transducers that came with the Helix and vise versa? I will send beers if you know. 🤣🤣😁😁
If the motor is "Link" yes you can connect the Hlx 10 to it and control the motor from the Hlx. Bad news is Helix only have one transducer connection so only one can be connected and there is no switch or splitter for the transducer in the motor. Best setup, get a second Helix for the bow, connect the transducer to that. Then get a 5 port ethernet switch to connect the two Helix and motor. Then you can go in each units menu and tell it which transducer to use. Canadian beer please...not that American piss water...and no Bud Light!
compatible powerdrive v2 ipilot ?
That's not a "Link" so no
sir
Thank you sir!
There are a few things that make me want to go away from hummingbird. By far number one js you have to buy their special adapters and dongles to connect. Everything is 60 to 75$ and it's ridiculous. It's a money making sham.
That's one adapter, the AS EC QDE which is for Helix because Helix does not have metal connectors on back. No adapters needed for Solix or Apex. and for 2024, all adapters included with all Minn Kota motors for Humminbird users
I’m not disagreeing with you by any means but I’ve run garmin and lowrance and they have their own versions of having to buy extra dongles/adapters also. But yea it’s incredibly frustrating to drop a few thousand for these things that “support” each other only to have to spend more to make them all work together. I hope that reads easily 😂
