Poor lady just wanted to offer some advice on making the bathroom smell better and got slammed for it ... But we do appreciate all the advice bc I would have never thought about it. Thanks to all and to this lady. I guess it wouldn't hurt to do this once in a while to remove odors
I didn’t see anyone “slam” her.. just professionals bringing up that what is being recommended can and will cause damage to various parts of the toilet. That should be something everyone should know before doing something they perceive as harmless.
Thirteen years ago when my wife and I bought our 3-bedroom, 2-bath house with a septic system, our escrow agent's husband owned a septic tank company. She told us to never clean anything with bleach that will go down into the septic tank. Bacteria is needed in the tank to break down the waste matter and using bleach will kill that bacteria. Since this product specifically says it is antibacterial, I would assume it also should not be used in a septic system. She also told us to never use the garbage disposal. We also have a washing machine discharge filter. We had our septic system tested and the tank pumped out for the first time recently (it's been just the two of us all this time) and everything was in perfect working order. But we won't wait another 13 years to have it done again.
I'm sure this same advice will hold true for any composting toilets. You need the bacteria (and possibly worms and other critters) to stay alive and healthy to break up everything into viable compost.
I watched a video from a floor specialist and he said for stone and ceramic floors Fabuloso is the best as it’s PH is good for the floors. I’ll now try it in the tank
Don't do this if you have a septic tank! The septic needs bacteria to break down waste. There is a difference between sanitizing toilet surfaces and flushing the antibacterial products.
I clean rental beach homes and condos and Fabuloso is my go-to toilet bowl cleaner ; I put a spoonful in the toilet brush holder as well! Thanks so much for all your fab cleaning ideas!! I have learned my very best tips from you and You are soooo fun to watch!!!! 🙌🌺🪴
The seals and gaskets will get damaged by using harsh chemicals inside the tank. You all dont know how to maintain things very well and are stearing people in the wrong direction. It's sad and wrong , you should be ashamed of your ignorance but I give everyone the benefit of doubt just do a little research before you try helping others if that is your goal.
Another trick that works great is `taking a small decorative bottle with a small opening and filling it with a cleaner with a good fragrance. Personally I use liquid Downey mixed 1 part Downey to 5 parts water. Fill the bottle with the liquid then insert a small piece of decorative cloth into the bottle. It acts as a wick and releases the fragrance into the air and gives off a "clean" smell. you can add small fake flowers or similar things so that it smells AND looks good. You can adjust how much is released by how much of the wick is exposed. It takes a little trial and error to get it set but once you it is dialed in, it is great. I keep one of these by each of my entry doors so that the first impression my guests get is a clean, fresh scent. My room can be messy as hell but everyone ignores that and always comment on how nice it smells. :P
If you're leaving your home for the day, just take, some comet and sprinkle it around the bowl. It will work all day for a few pennies. Then finish cleaning the bowl when you get home.
If you start to abrade your porcelain with those powder and acids you will create a forever job that will become worse over time. Chemicals in the tank can degrade rubber parts. E.g. vinegar. Solution? Idk that’s why I’m here. Afraid of bacteria in your toilet? Don’t eat out of your toilet😂
Hi. My condo apartment is 38 years old. I watch lots of UA-cam so, I left 1/4 cup of vinegar in the toilet tank. After a while, rusty water came out the tank screw. I tightened it, but, sometimes, it still comes out. I stopped vinegar altogether so, will wait a bit-till it stops again; then, try a bit of Pine Sol. If it happens again… I already have a replacement screw + rubber? washer set for it. Same with the old, rusty pipe under my basin. It never worked well so, I tried Drano, following the instructions. I did this a few times(!). Eventually, the basin stopper stopped stopping and… inside the bottom cupboard, the pipe began leaking in more than a couple of places😫. I cleaned it all up and stopped using the basin altogether and now see water proof duct tape in my future. Great luck.
Every time I pop open the swiffer cleaner bottle and use new homemade cleaners it leaks and my swiffer dies. How do you do it and not ruin the seal on the cleaner bottle.
@@nancyorkeithm1518 soak bottle top in hot water for a few minutes and once warm it should twist right off. If it doesn't add it back to hot water for a few more minutes.
I have never been crazy about fabuloso, going on back to the 90s. I use a couple of denture tablets in the tank, leave them for half an hour or so then flush but i also scrub out the tank a couple times a month. As far as cleaning the bowl, i spray it down with whatever cleaner I'm using then go on to clean the rest of the bathroom and then scrub the toilet. I do use disposable gloves but really, it is no biggy
Thanks for sharing. You can use your toilet brush to clean your tank with my fave ... Lavender Fabuloso, which has an even better fragrance and color. Also, after using liquids for a length of time, in future you'll be able to calculate the number of ounces by counting your seconds while pouring, etc a 4-second count will equal 4 ounces. Try it by practicing with water a few times.
I use the dawn orange which is like a dish soap in the biggest bottle i can get to clean a lot of stuff, floor cleaners all kind of nasty things, works well and smells great
One active ingredient: lactic acid (2%)... Personally, I put a cup of vinegar in my tank once a month. I let it sit a half hour, then flush. It seems to do the job; after 5 years, my toilet looks like new.
Following a UA-camR i put a bottle of fabuloso in my toilet tank. Flushed the toilet and the bottle would get stuck into the flap causing the toilet to run nonstop. Bad idea, unless you like huge water bills. The toilet smells beautiful though.
I turn off the supply line, and add a healthy dose of CLR to the tank, and flush. Then let it set for an hour, turn on the supply, fill the tank and do the process again. It really helps with the calcium that forms in the holes that fill the bowl. I do this twice every couple months keeping things running at full capacity.
That will work but if you are getting that much calcium buildup I would look into one of the inexpensive watersoftening sysyems you can get at places like Home Depot. They are relatively cheap and not hard to install. I recommend this because if you are seeing that in your toilet, it is also building up in places like your water heater and dishwasher. Even if you dont go that route you may want to flush your hot water heater to remove any of the scale that is probably laying at the bottom of your tank. As it builds up it not only reduces the volume of the tank, it aslo acts as a barrier to the heat source for gas water heaters and if it builds up enough it can short out an element on electric water heaters. Cheers!
@@vanhattfield8292 Its a 60 year old toilet.. and still runs great. I also use CLR to clean my glass shower doors and fixtures in the bath does a great job.
After the first flush there would only be residual chemical left, that would mainly attach itself to the rubber and plastic washer’s, gaskets and seals and start degrading them. The greater amount of chemical added initially would go down the toilet after the first flush, not on a continuous cycle a little bit at a time.
Yes, I loved the Clorox tabs that you put in the back of the tank....until they degraded the rubber seals etc. and we had a massive leak requiring the kitchen ceiling to be replaced. Just clean your toilets the old fashioned way folks. Trust me.
I've used it in my laundry as a laundry disinfectant and around the house in general. It works well but I'm not a fan of the scent. In the laundry you cant smell it when the laundry is all done but you can smell it when used around the house.
LOL, fun to watch your hilarious efforts that are effective ! Your hubby mate gets the credit to inspire your problem solving idea ! Because after you saw him painting the porcelain; you came up with a Fabuloso idea. I use the purple Fabuloso. I mix just a splash with a splash of vinegar in a quart of water and use it on the doggie accident area. I swear the vinegar works better than anything else I’ve tried and the Fabuloso makes it smell wonderful.
This is also an excellent way to unclog and help clean those rim jets and keep them from clogging up by adding the solution into the overflow tube in the middle of the tank.
Ok ladies, here's one use of this cleaner for your husband. And I'm not joking. Mix it 50/50 with water. It is a great carbon and grease remover on engine parts like that oil and dirt encrusted intake manifold, filthy firewalls, and other under the hood cleaning. And if a shooting enthusiast, it's a dandy carbon cleaner for his weapons. Just remember to run a couple of dry patches down the bore and wipe it off from other parts. And oil it all afterwards, as it will remove oil and grease. He'll be able to hear the dry patch squeak it'll be so clean! And it won't get him run outta the house from harsh smelling solvents you ladies despise. His weapons will smell springtime fresh! Hint: it is fantastic at cleaning black powder weapons! You may now return to the toilet bowl and tank for further adventures. 🚽😁
I actually use a small chlorine tab for pools. I cut it in quarters, and I take a piece of thin bendable wire the green coated one used for crafts. I wrap it around a small quarter piece and hang it in from the back of the tank so it's not seen. It keeps the toilet germ free, smells so clean, it's not over bearing, each quarter last about 6 weeks sometimes longer! It does not degrade my rubber gasket, well it hasn't yet anyway.
Lol .I’ve been doing this with the lavender Fabuloso for about a year now… nobody told me. It just makes sense because it’s inexpensive, smells good and cleans/ kills germs
I was wondering about the lavender because that’s what I use. But her bottle does say it’s a disinfectant formula. If that’s the difference, I wonder about adding food coloring to make it purple. Guess I’ll have to google food coloring in toilet tank. 😂
I read a good post awhile back from a cleaning lady that cleaned offices at night when they were closed. When she started her shift, she poured Kool Aid in the tanks every night when she started. The Kool Aid contains citric acid and that's what I've been using and it works good. She said the toilets at the offices where she worked were all sparkling clean, from the Kool Aid. I did not believe it at first but it does work.
You are brilliant! I used Mr. Clean tho. Took nearly a week to flush through. I'm not worried about a septic tank...there's 80 units here...the other 79 units can take care of the septic tank. Haha
The best toilet bowl cleaner is made by Fluidmaster Flush -N- Sparkle, it injects directly to into the bowl as it fills. Do not put anything into your tank aa it will deteriorate the rubber gaskets. You can buy 1" chlorine tabs cut the cartridge at the top to refill them for cheaper, if not replace the refill cartridge every 2 - 3 months when empty. They have a blue version of the cartridge if you want to see when it's time without opening the tank. Haven't had to clean my toilet since using it.
Struggle I have is keeping enough of it in tank to keep it clean. Some have suggested pin holes in bottle which will come out when flushed, but the bottles tend to float. It does, however really keep toilet clean when you use this. I keep a spray bottle to spray toilet bowel after each flush, and then I can do the tank less often. This stuff does really work.
We had the squirt gel thingies. They were so strong that it would make me nauseated. I use my Coffee Mate containers for a smaller amount of fabric softener, dish detergent, or laundry detergent. Then they get another use. The wide mouth is good, but if u have hand or muscle weakness, or kids or pets, don't do it. It comes out too fast. ❤️
One product you ought to try is the FluidMaster Flush N' Sparkle. Available in bleach, blue, and bacteria/emzyme (for septic) versions, this cartridge based system is much easier than the Fabuloso method and much better for the tank vs cleaning tabs. Also, each cartridge lasts up to 3 months.
Just typed the sane thing above... I love them, finally a product that works!!!! I bought 1" chlorine tabs to refill myself, cut the upper portion on the side, drop them in...
Yes it is so much better to clean with than the original Fabuloso it may be this one or not but one version of Fabuloso has baking soda in the formula.
I just pour it right in with the bottle maybe 2 cups flush it every hour for two hours then leave the rest to come out naturally also they do make the purple and antibacterial you don’t have to get the yellow😊
What you can do (if your attached to sewer lines) with any safe, non-caustic cleaner, like Fabuloso, is make a small hole in the bottom of the bottle, & put the bottle in the tank, & you'll get a little cleanser with each flush. The bottle will float, unless you put a bunch of stones in the bottle or tape it to the inside of the tank. I think you'll have to use the smaller size bottles. Should last for 2 months or so.
According to plumbers it's never a good idea to put chemicals in the back of the tank and I know this from experience because I thought it was ok to put chemicals etc... in my tank . in the end I had to replace everything parts , commode etc...
I use the purple antibacterial fabuloso for everything lol. Especially for my swiffer power mop. Those refills are so high. Just take your empty swiffer bottle and drill a hole in the top, big enough for a small funnel, fill it up with fabuloso and put a cork in the hole when you’re done. Swiffer peeps won’t like that hack 😂
I use a product called soap. I don't have dirty light switches in my house because I wash my hands throughout the day. They should teach hand-washing in schools.
Hey Dum Dum. WE are talking about TOILET BOWLS. WTF does your dumb azz statement have to do with what we're talking about here??? No one else MISUNDERSTOOD the subject matter. No doubt b/c of the unfortunate chromosomes you were cursed with.
I would not use something yellow as it looks like Urin! Lol you pointed that out, but we are visual so to me it doesn’t look good and I don’t want to try it. I will get over it!
Great idea. Ps hotels NEVER take care of this area. Unless and this is the only one I know of that passed the test, Trump Hotels. Saw that on 60 mins years ago. So this could be why staying in hotels could be causing people's allergies to go wild. I've gotten so sickly staying at a hotel, which looked very clean, that I couldn't get to my vacation part of the vacation. I knew that sickness, I just has to find it. Yes it was in the tank. Black Mold. Got an apology, a thank you, a huge upgrade and free stay for entire visit. Just saying. I was nice and they appreciated that. Room 2 was even cleaner
All three scents of fabuloso have the same antibacterial properties. Pinesol can also be used. The oil in pinesol also helps with hard water. Both products are also used in laundry as an antibacterial, specially medical facilities and if you use on your last load leaving the door open to dry, your washer will be disinfected and won’t smell.
Fabulouso does have high fragrant all purpose cleaners. I hate it! I'd rather use "Pinalen" but better than both. "Odoban" the best antibacterial deodorizing all purpose cleaner in the market. The original eucalyptus scent is my favorite. You will smell it days later, unlike fabuloso.
Hi Andrea, great idea.....but is it safe for septic tanks? I have one and I can't use those antibacterial cleaners. People with septic tanks don't want to upset the natural cleaning. Be kind!
THe soap you use to clean your hands, body and hair is all antibacteril, as is your dish soap, dishwasher soap and laundry soap. You are already introducing mass quatities of anitbacterial substances into your septic. and the amount you would be adding from a cleaning agent is going to have little additional affect. Adding a product like Ridex on a monthly basis is going to have a much better affect than trying to eliminate the very small amount of cleaning agent that would be introduced if it is used in acordance to manufacturers recommendations.
I'm very cautious abt cleaning chemicals in our home. There is a combo that can kill people! It has to do w chlorine and ? So, I use comet and after cleaning, I make sure I flush it several times to get out all of the comet.

If it kills bacteria, you don't want it in your septic system!!! The bacteria is what breaks down the waste products; without them, your tank will need emptied often.
Interesting Will give this a try and see Another tip someone gave was to use hydrogen peroxide And I tried that and wow it really did a number on the hard water build up Hoping it doesn't do damage Thanks for the tip
I love fabulous, especially the lemon scent and the one with baking soda. I never tried it in the tank. Usually how long will the scent in the tank last? Thanks for sharing!
I see a lot of comments concerned about killing bacteria in a septic system. I think you would have to use lots and lots of anti-bacterial cleaners to kill enough bacteria that you septic system could not recover quickly. Also, every time you are flushing down the brown you are recharging the bacteria colony in the septic tank. I thought you cut off the bottle top to funnel some fabuloso into the overflow tube.
I just used Pine Sol Anti-bacteral in the back tank, definitely smells much better. Thank you for this tip!
Antibacterial products will kill the bacteria in your septic tank. Bad idea if you have a septic tank.
Exactly 👍
That delicious smell she mentioned will also kill your brain cells!!! 🤣
you’d have to use a hell of a lot of cleaner to kill your septic flora. you’ve got to be kidding. one ounce of anti-bacterial? sheesh

that's what I've been using and it works good. She said the toilets at the offices
where she worked were all sparkling clean, from the Kool Aid. I did not believe
it at first but it does work.
Are you saying the powder in the package ? Tks.
Does it get the brown gunk out of the tank ?? My toilets are kind of clean I just don’t like that gunkstuff in the tank
You are brilliant! I used Mr. Clean tho. Took nearly a week to flush through. I'm not worried about a septic tank...there's 80 units here...the other 79 units can take care of the septic tank. Haha
I’ve used fabuloso for long time. Purple is the one I use and think it works real good.
JND King, Me too. Purple has the best smell.
You can pour it into the overflow pipe, and that will clean out the water jets under the toilet seat.
Yes!! I had this in the past. Loved it!
I used just a bit of citric acid. It worked so well. It is expensive , so I did not use a whole cup, like some suggested.
This stuff does really work.
you have mental hangups if you clean a toilet every flush lol geez
You can add an entire bottle by putting a small hole near the bottom of the bottle.
1/3 cup of each: baking soda, h2o2, & bleach in the tank works well too. But not for septic systems.
Definitely trying this today
Absolutely love Fabuloso !
@Andrea Jean Cleaning
Are you on a septic tank ?? Thanks
i put a couple drops of green food coloring in with the yellow fabuloso and it made the water blue because i couldnt stand the yellow color.
Thanks for that tip. I’ll try that!
Where do you buy them
@@pattyambrose2752 Amazon
Does the cartridges produce a strong smell? I am interested in this product, but I am sensitive to heavy perfumes and fragrances
Wow I've never seen antibacterial fabuloso 😳😀😁
I think I'd issues a toilet plush antibacterial soap or something like that to clean the inside of the toilet once and will save a lot of money
Thanks Andrea for this tip. I bought new comet spray, love the smell it leaves behind. Joan Bates ❤ ❤ ❤
I didnt know they had comet spray growing up my mom used comet on everything and bleach ..
PARENTS SHOULD BE TEACHING THIS INSTEAD OF RELYING ON OTHERS. School is for math science etc.
@@Tony-hx2fj and Radical Leftist's Teaching Pupils about Sex with anyone, as many as they want
Great advice! Soap and water is the best way to clean. Germaphobes seem to go overboard.
Anyone who doesn't know how to wash their hands after this 'demic just doesn't want to.
Hey Dum Dum. WE are talking about TOILET BOWLS. WTF does your dumb azz statement have to do with what we're talking about here??? No one else MISUNDERSTOOD the subject matter. No doubt b/c of the unfortunate chromosomes you were cursed with.
Tank you!😄
I would not use something yellow as it looks like Urin!
Fabulous and Awesome are my fav cleaners
We use those Gel packs in ours .
Bleach does damage the porcelain over time making you have to clean way more
Yes, and bleach causes problems with a septic tank. It's kinda like our "gut", You take all the digestive enzymes out, and you get "constipated"!
Love this ♥️. Thank You!! Your voice is so satisfying 🥰 I tried this and I must say 💯 ♥️
You’re welcome 😊
Great video👍💯 But what about the salt ring that the guys leave behind all around the rim? That still must be sprayed on and wiped clean.
Fabulous was recalled. I read it recently on our town's "Patch".
I do that with Mr Clean. 😀
Great tip Thank you !

Wow! What a good tip thanks 😊
Glad it was helpful!
This is excellent news 👏
Fabulouso will get!!! Thanks Andrea 😊 Joan Bates
Now, if I look inside a toilet bowl and see yellow water, I'm going to think, "Did my son forget to flush again". 🤣🤣🤣
haha!!
Lol..I was thinkn that
And then make sure he has a drink because he sounds dehydrated
With 3 teen boys, that is my first thought. Then, I have to figure out which son. Of course, they are all "innocent". 🤣🤣🤣🤣
There's other varieties... Lavender, Orange, blue. Use one of those
I actually drill a small hole in the top and place the bottle upside down in a corner of the tank. Now it auto-dispenses
With your comment if it’s yellow etc, when in Portugal there was a saying in this place of fun and sun we do not flush for number one.
I used put detergent in the tank. The smel is great, but it end ends sitting in the bottom of tank and not going anywhere.
If it kills bacteria, you don't want it in your septic system!!! The bacteria is what breaks down the waste products; without them, your tank will need emptied often.
Btw if you poke a small hole in the front bottom of the fabuloso just a small amount of it will mix with the water.
Interesting
Will give this a try and see
Another tip someone gave was to use hydrogen peroxide
And I tried that and wow it really did a number on the hard water build up
Hoping it doesn't do damage
Thanks for the tip
Citric acid and hot water. Best result for hard water
I love fabulous, especially the lemon scent and the one with baking soda. I never tried it in the tank. Usually how long will the scent in the tank last? Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing!!
I love Fabuloso fragance...
I am going to try this tip.
Hope you like it!
We have a septic tank. Will the antibacterial kill the enzymes/bacteria in the septic that break down the waste?
I'm Going To Try This. Thank-You.
This really works. I tried it 🤗💖
Wonderful!
I’ve used it for years for everything!
It definitely works! 👍🏾😏
I've already done this many times I love it before watching this video.
Great to hear!
