Great to see the old cars and heartbroken still that my Mexico oxe941L was stolen from me in1990 by some scumbags from the rhondda. I'd never have gotten rid of that car and I can only imagine how much it would be worth now. Rot in hell to those thieving bastards!

Was part of the service crew for car 44 at 7.30. BDA driven by Dave Farnell and co-driver Phill Short. Worked at Skippers (Burnley) at that time. LEC1J (rhymed with wreckage, we used to say). Is it really 47 years ago?

Excellent find. A couple of those shots of Roger waving a wheel are also in the musical montage at the end of the "Story of the Mk1 Escort" video.

pontymagic It must have been an excellent drive from these 2 men driving the greatest car ever (in my opinion) the Mini, despite the presence of for more competitive cars like the Ford Escort...

Ford Escort MKI and Mk II, are still the most popular Rally Car in the British Forests today, so well developed with 270bhp BDG. Ford got it so right, it still a tool in the right hands and so much fun to drive. Just watch Julian Reynolds going through Gartheiniog.

@11:01, that ford crossflow must have been churning a good 11,000 rpm, if not more!!!
Wonder what the bore/stroke ratio must have been for the engine to have survived that, lol. Mind you these engines had the heavy dishbowl type pistons popularized by the Kent.

ChuddleBuggy That crossflow would have been a 2ltr BDA and would rev to 10,000rpm no problem , it was one of the first engines Cosworth developed with Ford

sorry I didn't notice your reply. Anyway, thanks for that great info. I'll look into the 2.0liter BDA. Very interesting piece of machinery.
