Going by DJI release dates for new drones we had the DJI Air 3S but a new DJI mini is due but when? But I think there will never be a Mini 5 Pro - be great to hear your thoughts below in the comments
What's the point of these speculations about would be, would have been, would, if... it's like reading tea leaves. Let's just wait and see and in the meantime enjoy the great drones that are currently available. Happy and joyfull flying.
When buying tech, it’s interesting to some people to seek views and opinions from those more entrenched in the hobby/pastime/interest than others … does that make sense?
I think they will release a “pocket” style drone… to partner with the Osmo Pocket 3’s quality one inch sensor and color space… i think the might even make a creator pack with an osmo pocket 3(maybe call it a pocket 3s) and a mini pro pocket drone that share the same spec workflow. Making it very easy for young and poorer filmmaker to pick up a package under $2K and be able to shoot an entire movie with cinematic quality right out of the box (just using their smart phone)
I 100% agree with Shaun, its most unlikely there will be a mini 5 pro. We have just had the air 3s released. Not the air 4, the air 3s. A refresh of the air 3. There is a very small technical gap where dji could place the mini 5 pro between the mini 4 pro and the air 3s, too small for it to be counted as anything more than a refresh of the mini 4 pro. I think its possible the mini 4 pro and the air 3s may be end of line and dji will introduce a new line of sub 250's that include (or merge) the dual cameras of the air 3s. I think dji is capable of that and if so, it will be well into 2025.
For me it's a question of what can they improve? - Battery life; - 1-inch sensor; - Weight (grams could be shaved off, but would be at the cost of stability in stronger winds); - Battery life of the screen-integrated controller; - Propeller noise; - LIDAR capability; - Faster image writing speeds so that when in sphere panorama mode you get the full size 48MP DNG and not a crop. That's what comes to my mind after 75 flights since March. What blew my mind last night when looking at early Black Friday deals on Amazon is that I can now buy a Mini 4k for £174.
Hey Shaun - It's an interesting question and one I think we've both been pondering since the Air 3S was announced. This video even inspired me to put together a spreadsheet tracking release dates of DJI products, which I'd bveen meaning to do for a while. If you separate out the enterprise drones such as the Matrice, Inspire etc this is my 'guess' : Over the past 5 years there have been 4 new consumer drones In Oct/Nov, but FIVE in April/May. Given the release of the Neo, they're very unlikely to want to dilute the sales of that before Christmas, and are purposefully withholding the Mini 5 Pro (or it's equivalent) until April/May. From a commercial point of view this would be a master stroke as the Neo is likely to sell bucketloads over the holidays and once the honeymoon period has worn off for Neo owners that are new to the hobby (and DJI have reduced their stock holding) they may be hungry for an upgrade and then go for the Mini 5 Pro (or whatever it gets called) as the next natural step. All the best! Amok🖖
Many thanks for your comment Amok and yes DJI are very clever when it comes to sales, let us see the next new drone, rumours and hype, what ever, it means saving the pennies and buy the next amazing drone - just don't tell my wife
@ that’s why we were good boys and DIDN’T get the Air 3s. I saw a good quote earlier which went something like : “when your partner is cross with you buy a drone - they will still be cross with you, but you will have another drone…” 😂🤣🖖
I was waiting for the Mini 5 Pro but you make some very valid points, Shaun. So may have to switch to a different drone on my wishlist (maybe a Neo Pro?)😊. Subscribed to you now. Love your content. Keep the great videos coming.
The Neo was definitely created to compete against for the HOVERAir X1 😅 As far as the Mini 5 I don’t know what they will do, maybe a 8K cam? We will see.
I’d definitely like a Neo Pro. That would be a much higher priority for DJI I think since the Mini 4 Pro is pretty much perfect as it is but the Neo needs more power and better cameras for FPV.
Good morning from here in the USA 🇺🇸 mini 5 who knows. I'm thinking bout going big air 3s. Money funny that return to take off point is very interesting. Watch out eating hats, they have no fiber. Take care. An keep on flying my friend
Man, I've been telling comment sections on videos that repeat the same exact words, that I actually spoke with a DJI rep about this. They said they were aware of the fake videos. But they were really pissed when I sent links to the videos from people taking deposits for them. They explained that the original confusion was likely caused by the neo and the action cam because it is "5". And the 3s, and the enterprise drones etc. People were really angry that the neo wasn't the mini 5pro, they didn't read anything about it, just ran out and bought it, then threw tantrums and blamed DJI for lying... about? 😮😅
Many thanks for your comment and during the DJI Phantom days there was so many videos of the Phantom 5 but I think it's good for DJI to always come up with some thing new
The spark was utter garbage , sent it back to DJI as it would lose connection at anything over 20ft , they charged me 300€ to repair and didn’t fix anything at all! , ended up in the bin
I doubt it will happen very little room for improvement on the mini 4 pro and keeping it under the 250g, but you never know. I think a new line will be started, and let's face it, we are spoiled with the drones we have now with all the tech and good quality footage. And great signal transmission
The Mini4Pro has everything, excellent camera, long range, full obstacle avoidance, it's a hard act to follow but DJI will bring out something better. There are additions that could be made, but it's all about keeping it under 250g so what extra features could they add? A 1 inch camera, heat vision, lidar, extra flight time, better wind resistance which would also give more speed, advance RTH such as the Air3s has? For every extra feature they add, they have to make weight savings on other components. What features do people actually want, because I have to say I'm amazed at what they've already done with it, but I know that the boffins at DJI are asking themselves one question: What extra features would make customers think it's worth spending another grand to upgrade?
Solid-state batteries are coming soon, which will greatly improve weight, energy density, and short charging times. Samsung is already making them for small devices.
I think DJI will make a Mini 5, but that will be the final in the mini series and there will be no mini 6, like you say the mini series will be called something else, like instead of the Mini 6 it will be called the "DJI Aegle" quick and nimble😁
Mini 4 Pro is too good. A worthy successor had to be equipped with 1" sensor, but this will close the gap to Air. It will come, but not now. As of now they're selling out Mini 3 and when it's gone there will be a huge gap between Mini 4k and Mini 4 Pro - too huge. Guess we'll rather see a Mini 4 or 5 without Pro to close it. Or they skip this and release a Neo Pro, bigger for more wind resistance and much better cam in this price range.
I don’t think the five will be any great change like the mini pro was. We will probably get the improved navigation in low light and the improved image processing fromthe air 3S I think people are going to be very disappointed with the Mavic as well it will have the improved navigation in low light and they will probably bump the megapixels up to 25 as Panasonic did with their MFT sensor. Of course they will have a new pro controller that they want us to buy rather than having just upgraded the earlier one.
You are right. DJI Fly already supports so many drone models that it is not possible to upload the current version v1.15.5 for all DJI RC and RC 2. My DJI RC N2 with tablet always has the latest version of DJI FLY. It is now v1.15.5 (978). In DJI RC for mii 3 and mini 3pro I get information that the current version is v1.13.11 (1025-dpad). DJI has a problem with the DJI FLY app for some devices. The new mini drone can impress with a precise return to home (RTH) like the Air 3S. Is this the most important feature of your drone? I have 3, 3pro and 4pro on the shelf, and SPARK under the shelf :) There are undisclosed features in these drones, maybe saved for the newer model, but that would be ugly.
I think you maybe right. I am only too curious to see what these drones will be capable of in the next 5 years. The tech grows so fast. I do hope the next one is not gonna to be great because my wife is gonna be mad when I have to buy it...lmao
Even if DJI comes out with a Mini 5 Pro the question is, Will we be able to get it? With the DJI Ban and the other DJI units being held at customs... I don't think things look good for DJI...
I find it very frustrating that a drone costing over €1k gets replaced by a newer fancier model 12 months later! Where is the feature gap right now? I think it needs to be smaller, less noisy and easier to fly without attracting unwanted attention.
@@shaunthedronesometimes is there a problem with the rc 2 controller ? If you switch to "C" mode from "N" mode after turning off your controller and then turn it on by pressing the power button, you still find yourself in "N" mode. Can you check out this problem for the mini 4 pro and let me know?
@@ankitroy7568 Hi, just checked mine and it's in the last mode you choose - as on the controller the switch will be in what ever you choose (C/N/S) If yours is showing something different you need to contact DJI Support.
Does it matter if there is or isn't a Mini 5 Pro? What's wrong with the Mini 4 Pro that needs upgrading? I don't get this need for an annual refresh of tech (phones, tablets, drones, etc). If it ain't broken, don't fix it ;)

@andypc14 yeah, but only if there are proven facts and not speculations only.
My Mini 4 Pro will turn 1 year old in February and it is an amazing piece of tech. It added another dimension to my landscape photography.
Many thanks for your comment
I’m pretty sure it’s already 1 year because it released early September last year 2023

well issue we have already seen leaks of a mini 5 or mini 5 pro really depends on what they want to call it.
Sounds like a new drone in the new year - let's see what the name will be - many thanks for watching
it's mini 4s Pro with the newer lidar censor like the air 3s
Many thanks for your comment and it looks like the new DJI Flip is coming with lidar.
🤣😅 I think you are probably correct about all this.

There is no such thing! Mavic Mini 4 Pro??? 🤣🤣🤣 Wild imagination!

I'm sure the Mini will continue. Primary reason is the number of countries that recognise the sub 259g drone. The Air range is too heavy.
