      Hi!
      I've JUST NOW came across this Video. I'm not changing the Rotors myself. But I am curious.... You mention Washing the Rotors,. Do you mean the Brand New Rotor?? Why do you recommend that, Is there some kind of coating on them?
      Thanks!!🙂

    • @buzzsgarage
      @buzzsgarage Рік тому

      @@DaughterofTheKing960 ASE states that while spraying them with brake clean is OK, to get the real grim off the rotors is hot water and dish soap, if you take the test and put brake clean on rotors that's the wrong answer, soap and water only thing by the way DAWN is the best yes new rotors sometimes has a non rust coating on them that must be taken off NOT THE SIVER COATING ON ROTOR Thanks for asking 21years teaching ASE L1 Master

    Rich, thank you for your detail on sizes and torque specs. Nice techniques on keeping from dinging the studs when breaking the rotors free, the spacers to keep the rotor in place when reassembling!

    I changed out my brake pads today on my 2014 escape and the pads are are rubbing on the inside of my rotors an for some reason they look uneven on the rotor. What could I have done wrong?

    What manufacturers of rotors and pads???

  • @keithrayeski6417
    @keithrayeski6417 4 роки тому

    I love hearing the accent!! LOL!! My wife grew up in Lawrence and I said, this guys gotta be from Mass! LOL!! Sure enough, I see the Mass tag on the front! I do get a bit crotchety with these manufacturers!! Read is 13m so it figures the front would be different....as some one else pointed out, they have you buying one of this and one of that.....well...at least I can justify my Advance auto charge on the bank statement!! LOL!

      Always different. 90 percent of the time the front end brakes are about 30 percent larger. It does most the braking in basic applications

    Curious...I see ramps, so you must have driven the car up onto them before jacking it up even more and putting the jackstands under it so you could take the tires off.
    Is there any benefit to raising the car this way as opposed to not using the ramps and just jacking it up off the ground?

    • @RichpinTv
      @RichpinTv  7 років тому +4

      The reason i do it this way is i can better see see were to jack and i do not have to jack as much.

    • @oshkoshbegone
      @oshkoshbegone 5 років тому

      Zero benefit unless the car is lowered or extremely low stock.

    How do I know I need to change my rotor too?

    • @adamdaniels1368
      @adamdaniels1368 5 років тому +1

      I change mine if its super rusty or has scoring/lines from worn down brake pads.

    • @skipwilliam5639
      @skipwilliam5639 4 роки тому

      If the brakes are pulsing odds are you warped the rotor and it's not worth having them turned for the price of a new one. Or if they are gouged or pitted

    On the 2016 Ford Edge the front caliper bolts are 11 mm hex. Leave it to fords to make everyone go buy an 11 mm as every average set Allen key set. It stops at 10mm

    Not a recommended way to compress the caliper piston.. master cylinder damage

    • @dubzy8334
      @dubzy8334 5 років тому

      How do you reccomend? I usually take the fill cap off, amd do that with a small tool I built, I dont usually do it till the caliper is off.

    • @petergriffin383
      @petergriffin383 4 роки тому +4

      I hate when people point out a bad way of doing something, but then don't bother to tell the recommended way.
