Thanks for the lovely reaction! I think this is a great ep because it highlights the complexity of the relationship between Nina and her dad. Nina's dad is your stereotypical Asian father. While he loves Nina, he's terrible at expressing it. He focuses on actions over words and chooses to do what he thinks is best for Nina's future rather than standing by her in the present. This ep reveals the depth of his love for Nina, but it also doesn't overlook the damage he's done to the relationship. When Nina hugs him at the end, she pulls away before he can hug her back. Her realizing that he does actually love her did a lot to mend their relationship (perhaps Nina's biggest hang-up was actually the thought of her dad not loving her, not just her dad refusing to take her side in the bullying), but there's still a distance between them that cannot go away so easily.
i swear this is the 4th time i've cried watching this episode but i don't regret it. i love the deliverance of this aspect that even though there we plenty of flaws with her dad, it still shows that he's trying. i could tell that he may as well be missing the knowledge or ability to be there for her. it also shows from the height lines on their door frame that they're actually a really close and harmonious family before this. nina is just a little teenager, not knowing how to handle her own emotions and her own feelings and i felt it. this episode hits harder than it should considering the fact that i've not yet seen my dad for almost 7 years. my mom visits us here but only her and dad often stays overseas. with the past 7 years, i feel like i've gotten distant with him. the previous conversation we had almost led to an argument and i truly regret it. yet, he still talked to me. oh, i wish to see him again. other than that, thank you for reacting to this episode. you have reflected what i felt exactly.
Darn, the other translations made the scene with Nina and Suzune hit harder with "I wanted to kill myself". It was more impactful for me and I cried. Especially when Suzune says "I'm glad you're still alive". Next episode is PEAK!
That line is hard to translate actually. She says “自分をころす” in original which means “I kill myself” if you translate literally. But if I were the translator, I would translate like “I suppress myself” instead. That’s most likely what she meant in this case.
you definitely gonna like Bang Dream Its MyGo!!!!! Its 3D as well, thought not as clean as GBC but the story is as good too. Also the real life band artists of bang dream its mygo is gonna have a collab concert with the real life band artist of GBC which is pretty cool.
