I like the philosophy behind the restoration - different from most American rebuilders who just rip out the soundboard and basically replace everything with modern components.

Hey, Greg. If you said anything about the crown of the soundboard I missed it. Do you do anything to restore the crown, which surely must suffer in older pianos? Is there anything that can be done?

It depends on the type of piano, and sometimes the brand. I've heard that C. Bechsteins in particular suffer alot of the late 1800s-1930s of lost crown in the soundboard, especially in the upper notes above middle C.
A soundboard can be re-crowned to a certain extent, but sometimes if it has lost it's crown the only way to get it back up to playing standard is to replace the board

I am no expert in the care of a piano but In my mind, along with the quality of the piano, position of the piano inside the room is equally important. Piano placed in the cornier of the room with a low ceiling is unfortunate. Having the piano placed next to a window where the piano will be exposed to the sun i feel will destroy the finish much quicker. Are these true assumptions?

I've never heard wippens called repetitions before ever.

Although not the most common name, 'repetitions' is used by Steinway, Wessel, Nickel & Gross and some other companies over the term 'wippens.'
