Quick appreciation for the dgpt point standings at the beginning! A fantastic usage of the space that used to be the current scores. Gives context for the season so far, and sets the stage for the event! Edit: speaking of, I had no idea eagle was all the way up at #4 in points. Not even close to full power and still shredding!
Really prefer the old scoring, thanks for putting that in! I personally find it a more interesting viewer experience not to know whats coming. If I was watching live sport, then live scores would be great, but when watching it later on youtube its more engaging to feel like the whole field is playing at the same moment. Either way, love the coverage and am grateful for what you do.
Cool, that you guys are showing the old way of showing scores on round 1. I realized after one of my drunken rants, I mean late night constructive youtube comments, that round 1 is really where I missed it. It was too early of an indicator of of the Jomez card was going to be anywhere close or if they are already out of the tourney. .The later rounds, knowing scores of earlier cards is less impactful, as the players in the mix are mostly on close cards... Way to listen to feedback and compromise guys. 👍
This change in scoring makes a lot of sense! Thanks for listening to feedback! I have learned to really like the new scoring system but for the first round i think i like it this way. Either way this is why jomez is the best, always looking to improve!
THANK you Jomez for not spoiling end of round scores. Finally! I know I complained every video.. but I also want to appreciate improvements! This is my opinion of course. I don't like seeing end of round scores on hole 1, 2.. or even until near the end of the round honestly.
absolutely love the old scoring for first round only idea. that seems like the perfect way to do it. any reason we can't get back to seeing all four scores at all times though? really helps me to follow what's going on. Thanks for everything!
Thanks for returning to the hole by hole scoreboard. Maybe the live scores can be cool during the final four holes of the tournament or so. But it’s way more interesting to see like this overall.
HUGE thanks for the scoring change. It's nice to have breaks between holes showing where players are at (score/thru hole) but when people are literally 16 holes ahead, I don't wanna do math for the lead card. 😆😆😆
Great choice to switch it up for round 1. Thanks again for the fantastic coverage. Extra props to the camera team and edit crew on this one! What a gorgeous course!!!
It’s great to see y’all listen to our feedback and revert to the same-hole score updates! Edit: 40:40 I would prefer that live scoring is reserved for the final round only, as I feel like that’s when match play really occurs.
Appreciate that you're listening to the feedback regarding how to show scoring. I probably prefer the old style mainly because with the new format it feels like you get a little spoiler when you know the scores of the other cards ahead of time, although that is ofc how it is in real time.
14:40 Nate is 100% correct in saying that shorter, technical shots are a huge part of the game that has been missing from a lot of pro tour courses recently. It's way more fun to watch and play a course like Waco. Par 4s and 5s are fun, but I just don't see why a single golf course should ever be used to create disc golf course.
Woods courses are way more demanding (usually) and more interesting. Just blasting 500 - 600 foot shots down a wide open fairway is impressive but ultimately boring. Shaping shots and scrambling is way more engaging for me to watch. There is such a thing as *_TOO MANY TREES!_*
Ngl I kinda hated the scoring change at the beginning of the season but now I like knowing what the card knows in terms of standing. Maybe it doesn't matter as much on the first couple of days but it definitely makes a difference on the final holes of the tournament
I like the combination approach to score updates. I think Round 1 "Per Hole" makes more sense, but I think the shift to real time for lead card in later rounds makes total sense. Thanks for being willing to mix it up!
As a Swede and big form geek this is literally my dream card. simon and heimburg for obvious reasons, linus because im a swede hoping he becomes like albert tamm, and redalen because of his sexy form and watching him bomb at this course last year
You're awesome for responding to your viewers regarding how scores are displayed. It seems like you could have the best of both worlds by including the real-time-ish "score through hole x", but then just add 1 more column to show player's scores through the hole just covered. Maybe "THC" for Through Holes Covered, but yeah, I hear it now... Maybe a different acronym to keep it friendly for everyone.
Don't know how I missed that blue lake wasn't a part of Portland state open this year. Definitely not emotionally prepared for that realization. I played Blue lake last year while spectating BSF. I lost 3 discs and shot +39.... Somehow still fell in love with the course and can't wait to go back.
I know the feeling. I ate my losses in blackberries (almost) compared to all the discs that were lost or unretrievable. Should have brought my knight's armor and a mace for the blackberries.
I think the change of leaderboard coverage is great! Hopefully it isn't too confusing for new folk in the future but personally liked the former but I like the leaderboard style in general, no matter the method
I love watching the disc fly through a wide open course with some big, strategic trees. It makes for great viewing but the course is so wide open I think the mados are necessary, especially with this caliber of players.
Could you do both scouring systems? Might be right graphics-wise, but you could have an additional column that just says the score through x holes where x is the feature card hole
Old style per-hole score updates for the first round is the perfect compromise. I definitely like the “live” updates in the last rounds so the tension is higher. Maybe consider doing the per-hole updates for the first 2 rounds for 4 round events? Moving day and final round should stay at live, though.
Glad to hear you guys being nice and jokey with each other after that practice round awkwardness. Or do you actually hate each other and are really good actors? lol Big Fan!
Yeah, I guess I wasn't the only one who wondered what was up during the practice round. I don't expect sunshine and roses every day but that round felt a bit tense.
Honestly, while I'd personally prefer this score style for all rounds, I don't mind the compromise at all. Round 1 is by far where the live scores bothered me the most. Thanks for listening!
I would love to hear distances that are more exact for drives and for how far they have to the pin for every throw, I think that would really highlight some of the pros abilities compared to us mere motrals
Yeah, I think CCDG does this and they also started the thing with the disc speed indicator. I think they also shoot the distance to the basket from each player's lie. I think. Maybe I'm confusing two or three video teams?
@@marscruz I think you are correct, and CCDG premiered a lot of the little extra bits of information that we get from the other teams nowadays. And I have it on good authority (unless I remember wrong :P), that the teams do share ideas with each other and are very close knit groups of media teams. :)
@@Ran-tan-tan I think you are correct, that they share ideas and inspiration. I've noticed that the new camera operators don't always seem to be as good as Jonathan, Jerry and Mike were when they did all the shooting. I guess it takes time to develop that proficiency. I can't complain though. Free coverage is what is making the sport grow so fast and maybe the DGPT doesn't want to admit that. I can't watch live coverage. I've tried. It's too boring and slow. Too much advertising and useless filler material.
39:38 just imagine the ball golf fairways being woods and the mandos make perfect sense. Without the mandos it would just be spikehyzer over the ball golf fairways every hole
I agree with most people. Enjoy the old scoring update. I don't enjoy the coverage as much with the new style. I still miss having the entire card's score on the screen for their previous holes. It gives an idea where everyone is at on the card for each shot. I'm glad it's at least shown in between holes but it goes by too quickly to really process it.
It looks like Linus got a very advantageous spot for his 4th shot on Hole 1 that no one talked about. His disc crossed OB way back from where the flag marker was. He took it closer to the basket than should have.

Doesn't get better than watching Simon and Calvin on Jomez.
Throw in James Conrad and Eagle and you have a dream card
Ricky wysocki is the best to watch!!
All three are awesome to watch but I'd love Eagle and Ricky on this card preferably
I look for simon lines when I'm playing a course.

Love the old style leaderboard! Would personally prefer it until maybe back 9 of the final round, but love to see it regardless. Good stuff.
Highly agree

I understand the other method for the final round. It’s neat to know what the lead card knows at that point.
Some absolutely fantastic trees on this course
This is my favorite part of the day, watching some disc golf and listening to my favorite commentators
I am a simple man: Jomez upload a video. I watch the video. I upvote the video.

Can anyone explain why Simon’s discs off the tee pad isn’t shown when teeing off?
Thank you so much for the old scoring leaderboard. What a great move. Thanks for listening !
To me this is the perfect compromise. I like the new system, especially for final rounds. It makes no sense for the first rounds though.

I like the score keeping this way. Synced first round and real time for the rest
"Where K Jones struggled in 2021" was a brutal call out in the close up.
