      Your comment infers that the bar manager was stupid for doing what a bar manager is supposed to do. To sully this mans life after he lost it by doing the right thing is reprehensible. Also, what do you expect the bar to do after a tragedy like this? Your comment also infers that the bar owners are callous buttheads that do not care about their employees. Most of the times not true. I suspect that you have never owned a business and have no idea about what it takes to survive. For if you did you would not post anti business comments like that.

      Exactly. I'm sure he didn't at all mean to kill that man. It's just like you said, he was being a tough guy, threw the punch, and when the man fell back he was probably feeling even more tough. But when he got arrested and told the man he punched didn't make it, his world fell apart, especially after he sobered up. The life as he knew it was over. 26 years old 🤦‍♂️.

The guy is still in prison and that happened in 2007. He got 20 something years. You never know if that one punch is gonna be a freak accident and be fatal.

    • @desiv1170
      @desiv1170 7 місяців тому +9

      @@B126USMC Exactly. That's why the phrase seemed odd. It sounds like it is implying the person was already too drunk (i.e. had been overserved). And it's possible they were just getting there, and that's why the the manager cut him off. So he wasn't actually overserved yet.
      I'm not totally sure which was which, but that phrasing implies that he was already overserved, which I think is an assumption by the reporter at this point.
      Did the patron punch the manager because he had been served too much at that establishment already, or was he cut off and just a jerk committing a crime?
      And, IANAL so I have no idea how that plays out legally.

    Five years ago, in a road rage incident in San Bernardino, California, a 31-year-old career criminal sucker punched a 70-year-old sheriff who died when his head hit the concrete sidewalk. Then he fled in his truck. When he was caught, he was able to plead guilty to only voluntary manslaughter (as well assault and "threatening a crime"). He got only 10 years. Goes to show you how lenient the DA and courts have gotten over the last few years. If someone like that got only 10 years, image what this guy will get when his lawyer claims "the alcohol made him do it".

      I'm drinking a beer right now. I've drunk socially for decades. Only ever punched someone when my Judo instructor told me to do so in training. In Europe kids can drink beer and wine from 16, socially with their parents from younger than that. But people tend not to go out and get f'ed up; it's considered extremely antisocial behavior. It's very much an American (and somewhat British from what I've seen) thing. People hold out becoming 21 like it's some magically age, and everyone tries to cheat and get around it. I remember keggers in the woods. It makes alcohol some taboo to be broken. When it becomes an addiction it destroys your life.

      Why is it that these reporters always use fancy terminology ? All the reporter had to say is the man was drunk , What good does fancy terminology do ? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING !!! So it's time to knock it off with the fancy terminology , It does not make you an Albert Einstein , It only makes you look like a big shot , Keep it simple when it comes to news reporting and quit acting like a big shot and not make a frickin project out of it
      I myself and everyone else are fed up with the fancy terminology , It does not take a rocket scientist nor the theory of relativity to do a simple news report

      @jaybee2337 I call bs. They've been doing this recently with a lot of words. Don't act like it's not happening. I've paid attention to the news long enough in my life to notice the obvious differences in language that they use. It's "soft language" that George Carlin mentioned, and pretty much predicted in this context. We have a world full of snowflakes. And if people like you keep pretending it's not happening, the people behind this win. So, just stay out of it. You have nothing useful to add.

      According to someone who was possibly there, the suspect sucker punched the victim from behind while the other two distracted him.
      For all we know, they might have been pretending to be compliant, which is why the manager had his guard down. Or, the manager had been doing this for a long time and became complacent; assuming these turds were going to be as cooperative as hundreds of other people he's had to stop serving.

    these bars are the biggest scam on the planet. why would you pay for a drink when at the same price I could pick up a large bottle at a beverage store. Also I knew of this eighteen year old coworker at a large company who would get drunk on a regular basis. What she did was use her forty year old mother identification. She went to a ton of different bars and this worked each time. Sometimes they wouldn't bother asking. They would never look closely at the photograph but just the identification basically. a lot of these places are nothing but trouble. Even though they try to convince you otherwise, it is all about squeezing the most money as possible out of you.
