  • Before the Bugatti Veyron there was this, the Volkswagen W12. It was the Volkswagen Group's first supercar with a W-formation engine, developed and built by the same small team that conceived the mighty Veyron.
Dr Ulrich Eichhorn managed that small team of engineers. In this video he explains why Volkswagen produced the W12 concept car and how it shattered world records as it covered 5000 miles in less than 24 hours - averaging more than 200mph.
This is an extract from episode 197 of The Intercooler podcast. You can find the full episode on our UA-cam channel, or wherever you get your podcasts by searching 'The Intercooler'.

A lot of people don’t even know what this car is or even know that it exists…

forgotten supercar, extremely interesting sure but, what makes me sad is the lack of follow through for the XL sports concept and the BlueSport concept(less speed and power more enjoyment). Both were amazing and both could have reach a cult or icon status by now. Too bad automotive groups are driven by ppl who are not passionate about cars or driving.
