u teach them. my kitten lets me bathe it and lets me put ear mite drops. also grab them by the back of the neck and shoulder skin if u dont have a harness to hold it down if it decides to fight back or likes to claw/bite
I've watched three videos and they all use either a sedated cat or a ragdoll who just DGAF about anything. Can't they use a normal cat who fights to prevent you from putting the drops in to give us a realistic look at how to do this?
I'm having that same problem. My cat is in discomfort and doesn't want people to come near or even touch her. Hisses and everything. Bit the nurse at last appointment.

It can be a lot easier with two people. One can restrain the cat's legs (and bite) while holding the cat against their body while the other focuses on getting the medication in the cat's ears (or mouth or other for various medicines) and can hold the cat's head steady to do so. The level of fight is different in each cat, so you may have to use different methods to restrain the cat (such as wrapping in a towel or slightly pressing the cat onto a surface using a towel or thick handling gloves). Edit: just realized this was 4 years ago oops 😂

Probably the same for many others watching this video. I think using a towel to wrap them up like a burrito is definitely helpful, whether doing it solo or with help 😊
Even if your magically-invisible friend in the sky helps to get the drops in the ear, your cat will just tilt his head and shake the drops out, just as you would coming out of the swimming pool.

SO SIMPLE! Set your cat down and put the drop in and viola! Make sure you have adequate bandages your hands and/or face using this method with a normal non-model cat. p.s. - get a once a month topical called 'revolution' for the ear mites - don't even bother trying to use mineral oil.
Not sure how I feel about jamming the tip of the bottle down the cat's ear. The next video youtube recommended after this, the vet clearly said not to that. Please let gravity take the drops down into your cats ear. If you're scared of your cat mauling you, wear gloves. I actually wear a pair of "mechanix" brand gloves to protect myself and it works great, kind of like a suit of armor for your hands. (And yes, the gloves are clean, I'm not actually a mechanic.)
Cats canal goes down not like ours and then agree dropping down goes horizontal, so you can't puncture the ear drum, but the bad thing is, if not down properly you can push debris further down, and no you don't "jam" a tip down the ear but if you do it as shown it's not harmful to the cat
That is one docile cat. My cat has ear mites, and I've been trying to put his medication in. One of my biggest issues is that he tries to use his back paws to scratch and get at his ear then he licks it to clean it. I'm sure his paw has medication on it. It's main ingredients are Pyrethrins and Piperonyl Butoxide Technical. I'm actually up right now, watching him very closely. The bottle says not to ingest it so I'm really worried. How in the hell does one give any animal ear drops without them trying to lick it?

My cat tries to take me out. Nothing worked until I found a netted bag for cats with a head opening and legs openings. The openings have a draw string to close and open. I put my cats head through the head opening and close the leg opening. Now my cat can't scratch me, he is secure and I'm safe. He doesn't like going in it, but it works.
With Drops, I let gravity do it's job ! Hold the cats ear and apply the prescribed amount of drops in each ear canal 👂 !! I know it's hard and you may need another person to hold down the animal but it's got to be done ! I don't jam anything into my cats ear but that's me.

It's crying and kicking and Houdini escape artist wiggles her way out and hides in places around the house. Won't come out. Then I give up. I just have to keep trying. 💯 anxiety for me. Maybe wrap in a towel. Not game to try that but msy have to. Would be good to see a clip with a real (stressed) cat.
I do not agree with putting the tip of the bottle in a cat's ear. They fight and all that moving around could cause the tip of the bottle to go in too deep inside the cat's ear. That's why you need to massage at the base of the ear, they will still shake their head afterwards, but that way it goes deeper down the ear canal.
