Went to multiple Yankee games and there were always Gallo chants, even in the midst of his worst stretch. He was significantly worse with the Yankees nobody “overhyped” him. The strength of the lineup was a big factor and there’s no denying the fans are insane but it’s blown out of proportion. He’s a great defender and hopefully he can get back to drawing more walks and becoming effective at the plate again. Will always root for him

Yankee fan, loved Gallo, many times I’d have to pee during a rally and knew I could visit the bathroom without missing a thing once he stepped up to the plate. I’m sure he greatly improved concessions sales and bathroom wait times at the stadium as well. In fact one time him and Hicks where batting back to back and during the game I was able to bathe my dogs and change my oil in the game during their at bats. Didn’t miss a thing but 2 walks

Pitchers have learned to throw to the top of the zone to these guys. When he came up, the philosophy was still ‘ball down, hit corners’. Kris Bryant is best example of a similar swing that hasn’t been able to adapt. Vlad is plenty good hitter who is going through exactly what Bryce had to. Both set expectations of ‘Best hitter of generation’ early on, but Vlad likely is a 30 hr guy.

I watched him when he was a Yankee. He swung at anything, no matter if it was out of the strike zone or in but usually out. He was a sucker for offspeed pitches, change-ups, breaking pitches and high fastballs above the chest. He killed rallies, he never moved men around the base, he often left men on base in scoring position because he whiffed more than anything else. Never saw a batter like him. Unreliable. And I never saw him try to make adjustments in his batting stance, he kept doing the same thing he'd always done, which made him very predictable at the plate. Pitchers could close their eyes and pitch to this guy and get him to swing at crap.

@@Cheesefist .223 was still off from his 2019 self and even then the particular season where he batted .253 the guy played only 70 games due to injury. Blaming the Yankees isn't going to make him as good as you thought he was.

They even started a chant jeering at Gallo. If you think that being constantly booed by the fans you play for has no effect on performance, then you need to walk outside.
@@Cheesefist And just like that you have shown your true colors in wanting to put blame on a team for why Gallo failed. I have plenty of negatives to say about the Yankees for the past several years but Gallo had done nothing to help himself. The guy for the most part was barely better than a Mendoza line batter who went for the extreme even prior to the trade, that flaw in his game was going to catch up eventually. Even after being traded from the Yankees he still sucked.
All your excuses for the guy isn't going to make him any better than what he had been even when he was with the Rangers.
