  • You can use a “top coat” of wax after finishing the briar if you want. Any good wood wax or even shellac will work. Renaissance Wax is probably the best. I do not like a wax finish on rusticated or rough briar which is why it was not used in this video.

    I don't smoke and I'm never going to refinish a pipe but I do make videos and I have to tell you this was a near perfect video you can't get any better for two minutes and 18 seconds. A lot of people think short videos are easy it's just the opposite. You did a great job with this video.

      Thanks, Robb. Being clear, concise and accurate can be difficult at times, but I don't like wasting people's time. A lot of folks just want a simple answer and to move on. When I'm not in "story telling mode," I just want to be quick, accurate and done. Thanks for watching and thanks for the continued support.

      Robb is right. Short ,sweet and informative. I learned two things. I’ve never thought of using acetone for a soak or straight Green. 👍
      Did you know that briar will turn that color over time by mere oxidation and smoking? Over enough time the pipe becomes nearly black. (At least according to the one I made two years ago that’s currently in my mouth.)
      I believe after listening to some forty five minute epochs from others ,I came out a little dumber.
      Got any kinnikinnick?

      Thanks, Chops. I wish I had some. The most "blessed" smokable I have readily at hand I would have to "borrow" out of my wife's dresser drawer. Me, I'm pretty basic. A nice Virginia flake and I'm happy.

      Here’s something. Lane’s budget “Smoker’s Pride Whiskey”. is exactly the same as Captain Black ,except for a few stems and being less than half the cost.

      Thanks, Greg. My similar video coming out later today *might* have a little Easter egg in the final scene.

    Wow. That was amazingly simple. Thanks for this. Any concern with smoking it after soaking it in acetone?

    • @HNXMedia
      @HNXMedia  16 днів тому

      Thanks. No concern here. It evaporates so fast that I do not believe any really "soaks into" the briar. Hope the video was helpful. Stay smokey.

      @@HNXMedia Awesome. I'll try it on a stubborn finish I'm struggling with now.
