I am really enjoying painting along with this series. I have never painted any miniatures before I watched these videos. Even though these videos are 4 years old, they are great and I am glad I found them. So far my roaches are turning out pretty great, and I will be working on the spider soon. If I wanted to try the darker version of the spider, would the very first base layer still be a light brown, and then jump to a dark brown for the layering? Or should the very first base layer be a medium brown and then start layering with the dark brown?
I'm glad you're enjoying the series! If you want your overall Spider to be darker, then yes, just start with the medium brown :) I started with the lighter tone because I wanted the legs and "edges" to be lighter, if that makes sense. Starting with the color you want the lightest bits to be makes sense, whatever that "lightest" color is. Hope that helps!
Hi! Maybe it is too late now (after 5 years ...), but a small modification should be done in the description for paint list. The Citadel equivalent of Reaper's "Leather brown" is not Skrag brown! The correct color is Cadian flesh tone! BTW, I like the series, a paint my M&M minis with the help of this guide :).
so stoked to follow along with your vids and paint up my figures
Good job , so it looks like a wolf spider . They don’t have stingers , just fangs . Lol
Very helpful! Thank you. I can't wait to see the rest.
Super late to the party but, I loved your videos. My spider came out so awesome for me I had to say thanks.

I think that is the correct way to say Agrax, another small detail you can add is using gloss varnish on the eyes.
Very nice, will you do a series on aftermath with more mice painting?
Unlikely. I'm slowly painting Stuffed Fables but at this point I can't see myself doing a series like this again.
Great series. Btw, the legs are attached to the thorax and the web is stored in the abdomen.
