Hi Retro. Great to "see" you here and I think in relation to English-speaking ability, the blame should be on the company which employed the person. The ability to communicate is integral to the role of being a security guard as is the ability to comprehend the nuances of the English language. It is frustrating because it is obviously difficult to interact. Don't these companies interview people? It is clear that a stronger emphasis should be placed upon effective communication. Furthermore, it is evident that some companies need to invest in better training.

So many pig ignorant private security goons. When are these security companies going to train their staff properly? They are a disgrace to every decent security bod that does their job properly. Well done bud for standing your ground with 3 bullies.
I agree, I work in security, and goons like this are an embarrassment. I work with one or two like this, and often find myself de-escalating situations they have created, due to their lack of knowledge. Its a slow process, as most security companies offer little, or no training in regards to this sort of interaction. But please don't tar us all with the same brush, because some of us do genuinely try our best to keep people safe, and are actively on the lookout for potential REAL terrorist threats, and protecting public, and colleagues from physical harm. But dealing with the public is NEVER easy, as most have opinions on what is lawful or unlawful, and most opinions are different, as their sources of information are often flawed. As I often say to colleagues AND public, do your own PROPER research to know exactly what your rights are.

Security guards are just private citizens, so like other private citizens, they are often flawed. Nobody is perfect. But there is a way to deal with people to prevent a situation escalating, and if you are inept in doing so, then security is not the career for you. We do get trained in the use of force etc, but it takes months to train even a police officer. And even they don't know all the laws, and nor do most members of the public. But good customer service is not really something that comes naturally to many security officers, as displayed perfectly in this video. These goons have the completely wrong idea about public interaction, and their employers should be ashamed. But on the flip side, I have worked with some absolutely BRILLIANT security officers during my career, who do a fantastic job, and gave been in the job for many years. But, we are all human at the end of the day, and NONE of us are 100% perfect, nor are most of the people we come into contact with, far from it in fact.

I would love to see one of these security goons upload a video of me from their camera to social media. He was filming all the time on his own camera and I suspect that when he got home he couldn't resist showing his friends. However, once uploaded to social media that would be a clear breach of GDPR with massive fines and compensation.
Are you talking about the footage from a body worn camera, or personal mobile phones? Because the footage from a BWC is usually uploaded to a central storage unit when the camera is docked at the end of a shift, and cannot be downloaded by individual officers. There are strict protocols in place for the retrieval of recorded material, and only certain employees are allowed to access it, or burn it to disc. Unlike the days when we used to use VCR's, you cannot simply make a copy. But if you are talking about the footage on a personal mobile phone, then I would guess you have no more right to view that, than the police, which is virtually no rights at all. And when it comes to fines, well that is a grey area, unless the footage IS uploaded to the public domain, and the subject/person recorded in the footage can prove a case of defamation etc. But I'm sure there will be an "EXPERT" out there who knows more about the law than a high court judge, or the best QC. I was once accused by a train conductor of covertly recording footage of school girls, that were sat adjacent to me on a train, just because I had my phone in my hand 😳 When all I WAS doing, was editing some photos that I had taken during a day out to Canterbury. The jobsworth asked to see the "video footage" (of which there was none), and I politely told him to "f*ck right off" as he had no grounds, or right to ask.
