Don seems like a good bloke :D
That’s because he is!
It’s so good to see neons in a pond and breeding. That rainbow tank is everything! 10 years that’s fantastic.
Love this type of content. So good to see what others are doing in the hobby.
I feel this rainbow tank is legitimately the most beautiful tank I’ve ever seen. I recently had bosmani rainbows arrive from you (Nick) this week and I am already considering ordering another 5 or 10!
That was awesome. Don is beyond nice and so are his ponds and tank.
Totally amazing outside pond!!! The "Down Under" pond is so unique and Gorgeous!!!! The fish tank is incredibly Spectacular!!! Don has a gift for structure and style!!! Awesomely enjoyed this video!!! ..PS... You are far from stupid!!!! I prefer to say I am ignorant to certain new technologies, but never call myself stupid. You have taught thousands of new hobbyist, including me, and I've been in the hobby for over 45 years!!!! Your insight is Spectacular!!! Thank you for everything you do!!!
Thank you so much! Really appreciate it
Man I literally could listen to don talk all day. I love his ponds and his tank!!!
What a great guy! His tank and ponds are awesome really glad he was willing to share them with the world!
awesome ponds and tank, so jealous of what you guys can keep in ponds up there
I guess the lighting of the rainbow tank is special. Looks top notsch all the way.
Ive never thought of getting rainbows, but they look incredible in that tank wow
Love the videos brother from South Africa!
Thank you!
Very nice video for a change Nick! It’s great to see other people’s aquariums and Don did an extremely good job at creating such a beautiful aquascape. Well done Don! Super quality fish, those Boesmani are amazing! Keep up the good work Nick.😉
Thank you for this. I been having a hard time with my fish lately this has inspired me to keep on trying
It's winter, it's freezing cold, it's horrible.
I don't know what he understands with winter and horrible, but that's not walking in your t-shirt outside. Over here in Holland it's really cold in winter ;)
Good video!
Actually I do know :-) I'm Australian born and bred but I did live in the Netherlands for awhile, first in Ouderkerk a/d Amstel and then Amstelveen for work. Yep, there is NO way I would walk outside in a t-shirt in the middle of winter there :-)
Love it Don!! Good job on the aquatic plants!
That's not a Planted tank...............
THIS IS A PLANTED TANK :)
Hahahahahahaha

Do u know what light that is???
Awesome tour! What amazing ponds 😍
Awesome and very inspirational.
That was an awesome video. Don and his aquariums/ponds are great!!
Thanks for watching
Great video. Love the rainbows, maybe I need some. Also I can hear Don just fine.
Awesome vid! Super stunning Rainbowfish!
Thanks for watching
Wonderful.
Love that pond so cool
Beautiful
Those were fabulous
Grouse tour 🤩 excellent aquarium/ponds 👍😝
So cool Bro, that tank is amazing....Hoorah!!
Thanks for watching bro
Really enjoyed this. Thanks very much!
Thank you for watching
@@KeepingFishSimple I'm blown away by your set-up and the time and dedication you put into this job that you obviously love. I'd order from you myself for some of your beautiful fish, but I live in Canada. All the best to you and yours. I wish you every success. Cheers!
That leaf at the start under the stairwell looks like an Oak leaf. I'm from the USA, but that's what it looks like to me.
Really enjoying to local content :)
Thanks for watching
Omg is that dwarf aquarium lily in the rainbow tank? I havent seen that in ANY aquarium in brisbane and have been desperately looking. Also ive seen teewah creek rads at an aquarium in Ipswich if he wanted to make the drive lol.
A "dwarf" red lotus tiger lily is just a normal tiger lily whose owner brutally oppresses all attempts at significant growth by cutting OFF any ambitious leaves :-)
Heard it from the master ^^
@@donmoyle806 And that sometimes kills the lilly. They are fussy plants..not easy.
Very nice
Thank you for watching
Really nice 👍
Thanks for watching
Only suggestion I would have to that awesome rainbow tank is some increased water flow at the front. Rainbows love a surf
Thanks for watching
Water flow is slow/even across the whole tank courtesy of a DIY spray bar I made from black poly-pipe. The spray bar kind of disappears into the black background I put onto the rear glass so you can't see it. It's a bit of a trade-off in a CO2-injected tank. Too much turbulence at the surface accelerates off-gassing of the CO2. I also need a wide/general flow to deliver nutrients to the plants evenly. It's a fair point on those rainbows. They are not really the right fish for that kind of tank but I don't want to hurt their feelings :-)
@@donmoyle806 Wasn't a criticism mate, looks amazing. I have the same tank :)
@@donmoyle806 Yeah that's awesome man, ive found though, a powerhead of some type across the front, the rainbows will surf and colour up massively. Especially during water changes.
@@donmoyle806
Could u tell me what light that is?
Keep it up
Thanks for watching
That setup is insane. I am now changing my pond into a plant craze and with some more exotic fish. Thanks Don. But I don’t know how he was able to catch out any of those fish out of either pond. When he was breeding neons and. Catching swordtails and paradise fish. Just amazing. But I’m also scared for him about his fish jumping out the rimless rainbow tank. It is cool to see how fish breed when they are in a natural habitat and also when they are given the correct patience. Noice!!
Taking a lesson from Stalin, I make my fishy arrests from those ponds under the cover of darkness :-)
@@donmoyle806 Ha. Thanks mate!! =D Ur wish is my command.
Man that is some amazing ponds and main aquarium. Thanks Don for the tour, but when you say Brisbane is cold in winter while you’re outside in a tshirt, it’s all relative. I’m across the ditch in New Zealand and just had a day where my outdoor ponds froze over and they didn’t thaw the whole day. So jealous of your cold temperatures and what you can over winter 😉
Hahahaha thanks Brian! You raise a good point
It was 5C at 6am this morning (coldest morning of the year I think) so it does get a bit chilly but to get that cold, the sky must be cloudless so it will get up to around 21C with blue skies today. The Brisbane winter isn't very harsh but it's not exactly Amazonian either so no Discus in the pond...
@@donmoyle806 lol. I visited the Brisbane and the Gold Coast about 7 years ago during the July school holidays with our daughter. Apparently we hit the coldest temperatures in 100 years, but it was still warmer than at home. 😂
Edit: should add I love your Bosemani rainbow fish. They are huge and just look awesome.
Cool
Thanks for watching!!!
holy .......... those rainbows and they didnt jump......
Cool tank and ponds, I love seeing others in SEQ doing similar things in their back yard, if you get a chance send me a message I might be able to help Don out with the fish he is after for his pond.
I *love* your biotope videos!! Thanks to this video I was able to get some of Rob's Teewah Creek rhads which are currently (and hopefully) growing out in the uber-pond. As a back-up plan, I managed to get several fry from them before transferring them which are currently growing out in a tank in my study.
@@donmoyle806 Nice one! and thank you for your kind words. you should be happy with them they are a beautiful local 🙂
We have a Rainbow-fish who whenever it sees food it’ll go super fast to get it
He should get some Dimond head neon tetras thay look so much better from a top down view would be amazing
The led light over the rainbowfish tank is amazing!
What light is that???
@@supremeleaderarmy9164 it's an old Ledzeal "Malibu" from around 2014 - still going strong fortuntely!
@@donmoyle806
I'll look more into it. Do u remember how much they cost?
@@supremeleaderarmy9164 it was actually my 50th birthday present from my wife (but I chose it so I kind of remember). I think it was around AUD700 or so at the time. It's still going strong and I'll be devastated when it eventually goes 'phut' :-)
@@donmoyle806
Appreciate the responses
I love rainbowfish, your rainbow tank the most beautiful. by the way , how much does rainbow fish cost in your country?
he should try doing an inverted tank in the pond
Welp, looks like I'm getting some Rainbow Fish...
Hi there. I heard Don mention he wanted some Teewah Creek Rhads. Some that I bred are at red dragon aquarium Darra. Also enjoy your vids alot. You might consider seeing if Hung at Red Dragon wants some of your fish also especially corydoras. Tell him Rob sent you.
Ah, looks like I'm going to pop down Darra. Thanks Rob!
Well Rob, Darra & Hung got a visit today and it looks like I have half a dozen of your Rhads :-) I'm going to grow them out a bit in a tank in my study before dumping them in the pond but even after 9 hours, they are colouring up nicely thanks!!!
@@donmoyle806 That's great Don. They look like not much till they grow, but outside in the sun they look such a burnt red orange. Stunning. They are hardly over winter to. All the best to you and your lovely tanks Don.
Hi do the bosemanis jump? Do you have a lid on the tank normally? Thx
Beautiful rainbows. How big is the tank?
looks like a 400L CADE tank (4' x 3' x 3')
First thing I wondered size?
@@BenState Yes, it's a Cade "River" series. It's 4 x 2 x 2 (1200 x 600 x 600mm) which is 432 litres if you do the math. In truth, I'd prefer a "widescreen" tank but I'm limited on both space and also how much weight I can load onto that floor. It's not a concrete slab.
“The solution to pollution is dilution, “ 🤯
Hahahahaha epic quote
For sure, you can send me the first T shirt 😎
Is there usually a lid on that tank? Rainbows are jumpers.
No. No lid on the tank. I'm living on the edge with that I know but not as on the edge as the Rainbows themselves! So far, they have preferred the tank to the living room floor for general accomodation.
"Its from a tree."
Don's a ripper guy..
Hey Don, what type of light is that?
@nathan if it's the tank light you're asking about, it's a Ledzeal "Malibu" that I imported out of China about 6 years ago. It's been pretty good to me!
Ledzeal Malibu!
Hello
Hi
Great video but I'd love to hear what he was saying. He needed a microphone.
What is the KH at the rainbow tank?
I don't test regularly (any more) but KH is around 3 - 4 degrees and PH is calibrated (via CO2 injection) to run around 6.5 giving me around 17 - 25ppm CO2. I keep an eye on PH via the permanently-installed PH probe but for other water chemistry, at this stage I only test rarely if I think something looks wrong (can't remember when I last did this). Hope this helps.
@@donmoyle806 thanks for reply. Guess your water is pretty heavily fertilzed. My montecarlo grows epiphyte on rocks only, with quite some nutrients in the water. Mainly phosphorus...🤔
@@rara5212 MC seems to have no problem in epiphyte mode. The MC in the pond I started in a tray of gravel but it spurned my tray of gravel and decided to start growing floating in the pond (I tried not to take this rejection personally). The tank water column fert dosing is as per the video. It's roughly "estimative index" in terms of regime but not highly scientific.
How come the first one went down?
Audio was poor, whoops!!
@@KeepingFishSimple lol it happens 😋
tape worms in rainbows ?
You know, I'm looking at that video and wondering... Funny being just one fish though and no sign later. I assumed it was poorly digested fish. Might be worth some praziquantel as a precaution although I think I need to be careful with Corys and that...
I wanna know what kind of lotus that man has in his aquarium
Cindy it's a Red Tiger Lotus (Nymphaea Zenkeri)
Give him mic
I forgot it! 🤦♂️
Hard to hear man, I can hear you fine.
Yes I forgot my mic that day 🤦♂️
Waters to soft for shrimp!
Boring by him a mike
cannot hear him so useless
The big leaves look like Stenocarpus sinuatus - Australian Firewheel Tree. California in the house! :-) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stenocarpus_sinuatus
