My Fly Patterns Found Here: ddflies.com
Definitely squeezed my phone a little tighter watching that fight!! Love the drone footage. Nice job all around - really captured the story of the heartbreaker!
Well I hope I can finish the story for ya soon!! I’ll go get em! Got myself some 4X for added muscle
That's not the only thing that squeezed tighter 😂😂
Awesome vid! Def had me on the edge of my seat!
Glad you got something out of it !
Hooked and landed my first (and maybe last) 2' brown on the west branch in early June on a March Brown dry. Fought like I was snagged on bottom. Enjoying your videos!
Omg !!!!! ThTs incredible!!! Dry fly too! Best of luck on your next adventure
I love the way you do your videos. No music interludes all of the time.
I can play something cool while i'm fascinated by fly fishing. your mad chill too.
I saw a river runs through it and since then fly fishing---- i have always remembered and wanted to try.
I think I really need to do it. I might just go this weekend....
and mad props for 60fps
Thanks for taking a look and understanding what goes into what most people think are easy to do UA-cam videos !
If you're looking for literature to read. I'd recommend the curtis creek manifesto.
@@scottz143 👍
"No music interludes all of the time." - I have and will always immediately exit any fishing video that has obnoxious loud or long musing past 5 seconds of intro - it's a turnoff and many still don't get that. We're here for the relevant content - not someone's garbage taste in music.
Awesome video and footage and great fishing trip, thanks for the trip and thumbs up too,, Tony.
Appreciate that Tony !
I fish a cold release Delaware river tributary. Tough wading, tough hiking and tough fishing (pocketwater) but the stream is infested with monster wild browns, rainbows and brook trout. Great fishing.
I fished that same water 2 weeks ago :)
@@DownstreamDownrange what letter does this tributary start with? Lol
@@lorimeyers3839 I don’t even want to say that much. Maybe you’ll recognize it in future videos but it won’t be named
I saw a 30” give or take brown trout fly right out the water on the Delaware. It was the biggest trout I’ve ever seen
gonna try my best to find one this year
This was too exciting dude! Beautiful place, beautiful fish!
👍👍👍
Dan,great to see you back on the WB!
What a fun place ! Expect another video there soon!
That intro may be my favorite you have done. Great work on it. Congrats on the catches.
Appreciate that man! Was a fun day out there
Thanks man 👍
👍👍👍
Just found your channel. Keep up the good work!
TY
Awesome vid Dan. That was a heartbreaker…. 😅
I’m still losing sleep!!! 😅
Great stuff
Appreciate that
Danny! Great job on the WB, I recognize those areas, getting good drifts is vital. Proud of ya bro 👍🏻. How the heck do you get drone footage while you’re fighting a fish!?
yep!!! I saw your notification the other day and im like dang we almost ran into each other. We will have to plan a day perhaps soon. So the drone can actually trace me and follow me as I fish! but...sometimes it can "skitz out" and run away on ya. stressful trying to get everything in sync! hahah
I’m trying to head up to Delaware Sunday…. Thanks for the restock!!!
Should be amazing! I hope you find a 20!!!!
You handled that very well that hurts... For sure. At least ya had a good fight..... Keep goin at them best of luck to you .
@@rustbeltwilds837 you got it 👍👍
when you get in a tight spot w/ a fish and losing control, using a low rod angle, just start walking the other way,by changing your anchor point you can pull them out, using the bouncy tip to pull panics them hence the low angle which engages the rod's butt
Will consider that in the future ! For now… I got myself some 4X hahahah
Yes! That was my thought Dan. We were out west a few summers back on the Henry's Fork on the Snake and that is where I understood the importance of 4x in these situations (rivers where 2' trout live.) . Some old timers (I'm almost there myself) were busting my chops because I was fighting my trout too long (it was late summer and water temps where on the rise). Finally they yelled at me and said "if you don't have on a 3x get out of the river." I was using a 5x at the time. In conclusion - if i'm on the Deleware and nymphing I'm using a 4x .
Tight Lines
@@jameshubert5988 hahaha yep! Cool story ! Tight lines
You're breaking my heart. I live in S.C. now, moved here last July. Semi-retired. Had to get out of NY insanity. BUT I miss my Catskills. Used to tear up (gently) the Esopus on the other side of the Catskills, but spent many days fishing that area with Ken Tutalo out of the Baxter House. He's a master of those waters. Did many a kayak trip down the W. Branch launching out of Al's.
Miss that water, those mountains, the smells and of course the great Trout Fishing. Keep those Vids coming.
Hope to get up there in October if not this year, definitely next year. Tight lines !!
I hear ya! I won’t be here much longer it’s hard to tolerate!!!! More videos from Catskills on the way!
Are you guys referring to the political climate and everything that comes with that? Or other things hard to tolerate? Considering moving upstate in the next few years from the south west.
It's likely going to cost you a lot more to live. Depends what you all upstate. You still have enclaves and small pockets of woke in areas upstate. But it largely Red upstate.
It's in southern NY, South of Orange County and Dutchess County that you find the woke in concentration. Where I was from in Hastings on Hudson it was a world of sick.
If I can lend any other thoughts, feel free to reach out. @@jaredisaacs
Thank you brother.....you made my day with those Catskill vids. The one with the Esopus, I actually know exactly where you were. Not only did I fish virtually every inch of it from 5 arches up into Big Indian. Used to raft float it too with a Big Sky raft and really had fun covering water....@@DownstreamDownrange
@@user-of3qu5um9p wow! That sounds like a good time man!!!!
very nice thank you. what was the flow when you were there?
1180 I think? Maybe 1080 somehweee around there
what dubbing do you use for WBT Stone?
I understand your energy, karma will eventually let you know
Fantastic story
Def !
Thanks for the video. Could you talk a little about how you nymph? You're not Euro nymphing but using your fly line as an indicator. Is that correct? If so, what are the reasons for the way you choose to fish your nymphs?
Yes I am definitely euro Nymphing!!! I choose my flies based on what insects are currently available and being actively eaten by the trout ! Perhaps some future videos fully explaining how I fish could help!
@@DownstreamDownrange Thanks for the reply. I guess I mistook your leader/sighter for a fly line. Could you tell me what your leader and sighter are (length, diameter, manufacturer, etc.)?

There are many carps even above no kill area where you fished. Last year I caught 25” striped bass in Hancock on streamer
😳😳😳😳
Lost more than a few giants in the no kill area. They usually come out of the water and shake the hook.
yep!
I've never fished the Delaware, but of course it's famous trout water. Where you were, on the West Branch, is there good public access?
Yep it is! I was on the west yes! TONS of access
the worst thing you can do is grab a trout like 12:35 you just crushed its vital organs many don't survive it -- yeah, they'll swim off, but die later.
Interesting opinion. If you are any familiar with my content and experience levels, you’d know I care more about trout than I do people
How are you fishing under with all the green goop that constantly fouls up your flies?
Trout in there
Is that a chuck and duck rod?
I’m not sure what that means ?
What setup are you using ?
10.5 foot 3 weight euro rod mono rig
Upper Delaware, West Branch? Is this Pennsylvania, New York or (i dont think but i will add)New Jersey?
yep WB
I wonder how these spots would produce at night? Another great video awesome stuff.
Hmmmm perhaps I’ll go find out :)
I know that run ill be there this weekend to catch your fish:)
Good luck ! If that’s what makes you feel happy 😆
@@DownstreamDownrange catching big wild browns would make any man happy
@@outdoorsman12186 will have to disagree. The journey and effort to get a fish is what makes it rewarding (for me) …. I’d puke to go specifically target a fish I know the work was already done with. But that’s what’s cool is many people find many ways to enjoy the outdoors! If you would be happy to go stalk someone’s footsteps and go for the same fish, best of luck!! I hope you land a big one!!!!
@@DownstreamDownrangeI mean I don’t agree with that commenter, that’s not what I would do - but you’re the one who put the video up of this being fish being caught in a recognizable spot. That’s on you
@@Mojofilter111is3 whatever makes you sleep at night !
What size rod do you use on the Upper D?
When Nymphing or when throwing a dry fly ?
both.
@@andyk914 basic 9 foot 5W for dries and stuff the Nymphing is done with an 10-6 3 weight but switching this week to 10-10 2 weight
Went to site, when will you be restocked?
with what patterns? i can double check inventory if you were looking for specific pattern! let me know ill check

Spent alot of time on that river, from lordesville Bridge to the west branch. I've been fishing the river my whole life. I am 38. I've caught some monster browns and rainbows on the big D . The best trout stream on the east coast
Yep!
There is some great hatches on that river, but when there isn't, it's tuff fishing, streamers. Muddlers are your best friends lol.
Could have been a striper. God what a pool . The circular reverse current section reminds me of the pool across from the Al Caucci place . I know you'll never reveal its exact GPS coords, as it will then be inundated with kids sporting D and D hats , hooting and hollering. Water level looks amazing.Yeah there should be some Isos out , oh well.
Hahahahah!!! Striper FOR SURE! Hahah I’ll be back to catch the beast!!!!! Yep maybe blind cast a big dun! Take care my friend
@@DownstreamDownrangeI saw a guy in a canoe pull out a HUGE striper from that eddy.
@@beo77 I found a herring up there yesterday! Check it out in the next video! Out tn at 6pm
It's not a 'big fish' but happy for you and if it's the biggest brownie you've ever seen then that's amazing
Yes that’s a good point ! Definitely everything I say reflects my own adventures! Perhaps this fall I’ll catch a lake run brown from salmon river and that will be “big” for others !
@@DownstreamDownrange caught Many of lake run browns throughout the Ontario tribs. Coho run is exceptional right now on SR. caught a 22 lb. Lake run hen brown trout about 8 years ago in a lake o trib. She was so fat she had stretch marks and couldn't barely fight. Was an absolute Giant female. Huge to say the least just massive.. I guessed her over 20 and called it 22. I let the egg wagon go. Just huge

Come up to the PM!😆
What’s the PM!?!?
What is that Green Bay logo doing on your wall?
Sitting pretty :)
Neither does complaining. Cut it out. You will feel better
lmfao only replying for algo boost
In deposit ?
all over the wb from deposit to hancock
BTW don't get freaked out about the campgrounds on the East branch . I was joking. It doesn't harsh out the river . The stretch above the Sunoco station going upstream is all good water , and good for Iso and BWO dry fly action . If you continue upstream, eventually you'll see a brown DEC pulloff sign and a narrow foot path straight through a field that lead to the awesomest pool and riffle run ever. I used to have it all to myself, as you had to walk 1/2 mile up to it upcurrent oh but no. Capitalism occured again. but even with the hoople access its still a great pool . Probably has a name to it by now. No, the numbers of fish isn't like the West, but they can be quite big and impressive. But again, 600 or higher flows . the wading is easier than the WB, you'll see black bears swimming , bald eagles, tons of deer, and it's just incredibly gorgeous , as it winds around, often with mist on the water. And it smells great because the water is so damn pure. Once I learned it, it stole my heart , and it's a respite from the gnarliness of the WB and the even more insane Mainstem. The Beaver Del diner is okay for foodage. RT 30 is also a really fun country drive.
Cool deal!!!!!
Nobody counts missed lunkers
Too much pressure on the fish. Let em run a bit.
Let em run where ? Into the trees ? Hahah
Begging never works

Bull shit. You can land steelhead on 4x, you just can’t horse em. Same with the big del rainbows and browns.
Nice attitude 😅
I always use 4x on the Delaware "Fluorocarbon" tippet! Having said that, How is the Go fund me Page doing for you? Thought you had issues?
Just got 4X!!!! Been using 4lb test
