Talk about safety, please consider that you could also leave a widow should the chain fly off the saw and it severs the artery in your leg because you are not wearing chaps. Also, if you value your eyes, please wear safety glasses as well. Both are essential when using a chain saw.
Good job sighting the widow maker tree. Kept y’all from paying for repair/replacement of 1 - 2 cars. Lord, pray Your blessings upon Martin and his family. Protect and provide for them all during ALL the storms coming their way this winter. Amen!🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I think for those tools that you don't use that often electic is the only way to go. no engine maitnance and the fuel doesn't go bad. if shtf occurs they will still run long after the last gasoline has gone bad.
You only complained about the broken tractor switch, but what did break? Mechanical, electrical? Is its construction to weak or do high currents burn the contacts? If electrical, you could think of adding a heavy duty relay as one in cars where the dashboard switch controls is and the relais does the heavy lifting.
My thoughts, too. He should give/send a broken switch to someone like me who can determine what went wrong. (But I'm in Greece and America is full of experts.) P.s. I'm modest, too.
I have a Stihl and a Mac gas chain saw. Bought an Echo battery powered saw and don't use the others anymore. Of course I'm 72 now and don't cut much wood anymore. But that electric saw is always available and ready for trees and limbs falling.
I have both an electric chainsaw and a gas chainsaw. In an emergency during either a rainstorm or a snowstorm I use the gas one as I prefer to not have to worry about having any problems using the electric chainsaw in the wet weather. For every day use I use the electric chainsaw.
That chain sharpener reminds me of the time where my neighbor's grandmother sharpened her push mower's blade by picking up the mower and using a grinder on bottom side of the blade. I don't think that you would reap the benefits of having a traditional sharpened chain. Happy Thanksgiving 🦃
I've gotta big pine that beetles killed last year. It's right on edge of creek bed so I only have one direction to go when falling. I'm afraid of the weight shift on the island of existing roots.
Another good thing for small jobs is the I have a DeWalt battery operated one so it's just a 20 volt battery and you can get three or four of them and you can they last up to 2 hours
I love my DeWalt 20 Volt chainsaw for my small stuff. I think I learned about the DeWalt from this channel? Still go Stihl gas chainsaw for the big stuff.
Electric is good if you have a source of power. Battery chainsaws are good as long as you have spare batteries. A gas powered chain saw is a good back up.
Next step is a battery chainsaw, the Milwaukee seems to get the best reviews from the arborists. Dragging a cord is a pain. I have a 40 YO extension cord I cut the second time I used an electric chain saw.
Be mindful that every set of batteries makes you lose power by not being 100% efficient in the charging cycle. In an extreme example, your solar panels charge your house batteries, which charge a portable power station, which charges your chainsaw batteries. Before you know it, you're losing half the power you're putting into it. But, I can see why cordless is more convenient.
Um, what's next for that dead Fir in your lawn at 4:00 .. same saw? Seriously though, be safe out there for the next storm. As always, very practical video. Keep Smiling.
I picked up an electric chainsaw when I had a situation where I couldn't pull the cord to start the gas saw. The electric saw, I just hit a button and pull the trigger. Real easy when I found myself in the situation I found myself in.
@@MartinJohnsonOffGridLiving I have a little bit, though thankfully with my local in NC I should be okay with noise most of the time... I do need to get alternate power sources figured out though, whether that is solar, wind, or maybe a little bit of hydro I'm not sure.
Hi Martin and Colin, please get yourself a pair of chainsaw pants and boots, it’s not expensive compared to the medical costs, also especially when felling a dead tree, use a helmet, it is not uncommon having big branches falling down. I want you around for many years to come
You seem to have reviewed a number of power stations over the last three or four years. Instead of constantly reviewing different brands, especially those that have given sponsorships, why not do a comparison of the Echoflow, Anker, Jackery, Bluetti, etc.? You can certainly make the basis of your comparison the best power station for home back up, whether or not you’re homesteading.
We only work with quality products. They all seem to be basically the same with only minor differences. It is kinda like Ford vs Chevy. You can't really go wrong if you know what you need power wise. Do you need a Ranger or a F350?
@@MartinJohnsonOffGridLiving I'll take the F350. Can you deliver it to my door? Joking aside, I'd love to see a video on a battery backup system for an on-grid home (we're in a 1,250 SF townhouse). I realize that may be beyond the mission of your channel, but it would help me figure things out.
I understand that you need to incorporate paid promotions in your videos for financial reasons but I guess brand loyalty suffers as well. This is at least the 3rd brand of a backup battery power source you have promoted with the other 2 being Bluetti and Ecoflow. To be fair maybe you need to do a side by side comparison of the various brands and rate them according to performance and price.

Great choice. Unfortunately, they are a little tricky. Your membership allows you not to see "ads" but it has nothing to do with sponsorships. You will still see all the sponsorships which some people call ads but in UA-cam language they are not ads.
Would love to have a power, but so far all I've look are worth the price their asking I'm sure. But they are all to rich for this old biker's budget... We got 23 acers of woodland we just bought here in Kentucky with a lot of dead standing trees. I personally can use a gas chainsaw due to my disability and age. But I love my electric one. Just no way to use it out in the woods yet... Who knows God may bless me with one or make away for us to buy one...................
Typical widowmaker is a heavy branch suspended high above the ground spanning 2 or more trees. Yes the tree was dead but is considered yard maintenance only. WHY ALL THE ADS UA-cam IS NOTORIUS FOR ADS BUT NOW YOUR CHANNEL IS I THINK IN COMPETITION WITH UA-cam

Cool power brick. Supplies way more power than needed. I like to have the chainsaw and that powerbrick to keep in the truck just in case. Nice
Who else just watches 3:20 over and over again :)
Went electric chain saw 10 years ago! Never looked back.
Enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing
Cool chainsaw. I like the sharpener the most. Quick and painless. Super quiet too.
Echo 58 v love it no worries if it's going to start
Yes when you live in the bush you have to be careful where you park, That was a car crusher for sure, Good job cleaning it up 👍,

We have to mention that solid state batteries’ life span is far greater than lithium phosphate. Well over double the charge cycles in some cases.

better over all.

I had an electric chainsaw once. It literally melted the inside components because it got too hot just cutting a 6 inch branch.
Sounds like it might have been low quality or a lemon. No chainsaw should do that.

When the views drop, extra income in necessary. A lot of UA-cam channels are seeing a big drop in viewership.
