I found your channel last night while hunting for videos on UA-cam about the P1K for my first side.by side. You sold me on the pioneer base model and on the Honda in general. Thank you for the videos on the pioneer. Love the channel.
For anyone else that sees this comment he is referring to the water pump weep hole line I always just plug these on new machines you can also snorkel them if you want an indicator for if your water pump starts leaking
Wrong why do people keep commenting this it's clearly documented on the Honda website that every 1000 has electric power steering and paddle shifters. I think you guys are looking at an older model or the Pioneer 700 Maybe
Why would you buy something that you only have complaints about. You can whine about it all you want but in the end it's your own damn fault. You don't wanna wait for a base. That's your fault.
Doing the math 1600 for wheels, some plastics, and a couple switches and a slightly different shock design isnt awful. Polaris or can am would charge 2k minimum for the same thing
Biggest thing for me was look at the price of wheels to upgrade ur steel base model wheels ur halfway to 1600 in that alone then the self leveling suspension gets u to that 1600 mark the rest is just extra even tho i do like the cubby holes in the interior too.
These wheels aren't be locks so they're useless to me also if you're paying that much for Wheels you're not shopping around very well I can get beadlocks for $150 a piece
I definitely wouldn't have accepted the machine the way it was! I would have the Steeler ship order you new doors! And showing them all the things that weren't right with the fit and finish! Honda used to be one of the best but none of the manufacturers care anymore!
Expected from Polaris Not Honda Can’t mnfr but a few What happens? Quality goes way down If they can sell, at stealership price gouging, what few they build Why bother with close build tolerances? Blame the workers? Are USA cars headed same way?
Just wondering why you didn't order an RMAX, or was this already ordered? RMAX probably harder to make watertight of course... but it seems inevitable that you will end up with one... either you get tired of stuff in just days, or are taking a lot of joy in the different bike projects, not sure!
Do the 22’s not have the piece of rubber under the front seat? I have a 20 and I would like to find a heat shield. My seat and cab gets hot with the doors closed
Thanks David, you're clearly an expert lol The pins are not broken on my 2023. These pins don't actually break. They wear out after a lot of miles. The holes are just drilled too big. It's very obvious.
@@MudPuppyOffroad I put a deposit down on a soon to arrive 1000-3 base. I was on the fence about the 700 but your videos convinced me to go with the 1000. Thanks!
I owned one there's a lot of videos on the channel about it try the search feature. Pretty good for a hunting buggy for trails but extremely hard to snorkel and the four-seater tips over pretty easy
@@MudPuppyOffroad Thank you. I haven’t been able to find the ratios. But you’re definitely right because I can’t find anyone that makes a gear reduction for my big bear. I got a big bore kit but it doesn’t seem like it is enough. Is the ratio you gave for a Big Bear 400 foot shift?
@3:37 Supposed I'd be ok with the term "noob", instead I guess I'm considered an "idiot". Well I'd be an idiot for subscribing to your channel, think about folks that gotta start somewhere dude.
Thats to bad . They lost a sale with me with a pioneer. The can't live on a old reputation forever. Ended up with a can am. Good luck with your machine.
The 2022 Pioneer is excellent and I love it they addressed all the major problems from 2021 in previous you just have to remember that it's a much cheaper side by side than say in armax so yes they're going to cut Corners with things that don't really matter offroad like fit and finish
Hey buddy love the videos I have a 2022 Honda Pioneer 1000-5 Forest and again it has a few differences from what you are showing. I have the front full bumper and my shocks do not have adjustable in the front but the rear is suppose to be self leveling . The trail also comes with a rear view mirror i noticed you didn't point it out. Wish I had the front locker over the i4wd. Lots of vids on my channel of it check me out drop me a comment .
@@danharris5873 lol true but it's honestly not that bad, only takes about an hour and a half from start to finish if you know what you're doing and you got an impact
Oh don't get me started the 2022 Commander I rented was significantly worse fit and finish not to mention crap suspension noises terrible front differential and ridiculous ergonomics

Deluxe also gets you electric power steering and the paddle shifting.

Wow- thx for that! Hilariously brutal. Base model it is.
Keep ‘em coming
Walker Evans shocks made a big difference in how my Pioneer 1000-5 rode. I also jumped it frequently and it took it, no problem!
Why would you buy something that you only have complaints about. You can whine about it all you want but in the end it's your own damn fault. You don't wanna wait for a base. That's your fault.
I get paid to review shit genius. Lol i love the machine but the deluxe package is a joke.
Doing the math 1600 for wheels, some plastics, and a couple switches and a slightly different shock design isnt awful. Polaris or can am would charge 2k minimum for the same thing
No they wouldn't. The quality on them is much better. We sold our junk pioneer and bought a ranger. Problem solved.
@@kathygoodman2628 lmao. I have 2 can ams and a ranger. They definitely charge more for dumb stuff
Rangers are crap lol
@@MudPuppyOffroad crap that would pull that honda in half.
@@kathygoodman2628 lol sure man enjoy your mexican scooter
I have a 2017. The door panels on the older deluxes
are bolted on. Great bikes!!!
By going from bolts to push pins, its called cost cutting.
The way I see it, the main difference between the base and deluxe models is power steering in deluxe, is others mentioned much further down this list
Every 1000 has power steering
@@MudPuppyOffroad You are right. I was thinking the 700 (not 1000).

Those little cubby holes are obnoxious anything you put there will fly out and they just get full of mud I'm going to rip mine off soon
Up grading is usually a profit maker for the manufacturer.
5sure
I definitely wouldn't have accepted the machine the way it was! I would have the Steeler ship order you new doors! And showing them all the things that weren't right with the fit and finish! Honda used to be one of the best but none of the manufacturers care anymore!
I prefer dealerships to touch my machine as little as possible they generally make things worse overall
Wheels storage plastic door skins adjustable shocks what do you want for 1600.00
Maybe one single upgrade I would have paid for with my own money lol
Expected from Polaris
Not Honda
Can’t mnfr but a few
What happens?
Quality goes way down
If they can sell, at stealership price gouging,
what few they build
Why bother with close build tolerances?
Blame the workers?
Are USA cars headed same way?
Dude get a life. Geez.
Order some Kawasaki plastic rivets they’re a little bigger
Can I purchase the front cargo nets for the base model
Just wondering why you didn't order an RMAX, or was this already ordered? RMAX probably harder to make watertight of course... but it seems inevitable that you will end up with one... either you get tired of stuff in just days, or are taking a lot of joy in the different bike projects, not sure!
This has been on order for months. RMAX is epic BUT super loud and cant snorkel it without destroying belt flow... of couse i love shifting gears.
Nice ride i have the base, best choice I ever made coming off a ranger, also have 2 300s and a recon ride red brother
Doesn’t the deluxe have power steering and the base doesnt or have they changed that
we have a base and it has power steering
This used to be the case. Also the deluxe has good headlights which seems to not be the case anymore
@@carsoncelmer5747 on Hondas website the base doesn’t have power steering.
Do the 22’s not have the piece of rubber under the front seat? I have a 20 and I would like to find a heat shield. My seat and cab gets hot with the doors closed
But yet you talk crap on other brands about how cheaply made they are.
The RMAX was great. The p1k cheapness in right on par with its price relativley speaking
Seems like you have broken push in clips. Replace the clips. They break very easily.
Thanks David, you're clearly an expert lol The pins are not broken on my 2023. These pins don't actually break. They wear out after a lot of miles. The holes are just drilled too big. It's very obvious.
The 23’ 700 & 700-4 base shows no power steering on Honda’s website.
I have no idea why they still make the 700
@@MudPuppyOffroad I’m in that space. I want a toy but the extra $3,600 for the 22’ 1000cc is a bit much.

That is an impressively bad run-on sentence.
Doesn’t it get you EPS? It does in the 700
Like I've said a few times in the comments on this video every 1000 has power steering
@@MudPuppyOffroad my bad. I didn’t read all the comments or research the 1000 lineup. Makes sense.
You going to throw the 6” portals on it or leave it stock?

With all the winning your doing maybe you should of bought a different brand.
I am a winner thank you! Next time check your spelling before attempting a mediocre roast Curt
@@MudPuppyOffroad Wasn't trying to roast at all. Just making a point. 😢
This is off topic, but could you do a quick video on the gearing of the Yamaha Big Bear 400 vs Honda Rancher 420?
Big Bear is better until you consider that you can easily put a gear reduction in the 420
Big bear is 60:1 crawl ratio rancher 420 foot shift is 46.5:1. Racher makes more power though
