Ha O is impressive and incredibly talented. The only thing I'd like to say is to make sure his mind is getting enough stimulus so that he can learn and grow without feeling like things are too slow and way underneath his level. Also please make sure to compliment the child on hard work and not on his innate talent and capabilities. As a former gifted child and now a depressed adult, these things really are important and often overlooked.

I always heard about that in child-rearing but can't understand it in full context. Like for example, what activities fall under hard work and vice versa? Thank you in advance.

When I was young I was always complimented by my parents (mostly dad) and their acquaintances/friends that I was really smart for my age. That made me think that I could get school stuff done without studying and surprisingly (not bragging), I was successful. That way of thinking made me lazy to the point I wouldn’t study or review anything anymore. And my dad noticed I am becoming lazy and always pointed it out, even making me hear it. He doesn’t somehow care(?) and just want me to bring home good grades. And by good grades, I mean being at the top rank of my classes and school even.
So whenever there are exams that are really hard and I had to study and actually end up acing it, he would just overlook my efforts and just say it’s nothing, he already expected it because “I am already smart enough” and that I didn’t even prepare for the exam. But when I would end up failing it, he’d say it’s because I didn’t put enough effort and I disappointed him.
It made me feel so unappreciated. It made me even lazier up until today tbh, because I feel like no matter how hard the efforts I will give, *no one* will appreciate me enough. It’s sad how I live this kind of life that needs validation.

At least that's what happened with me. Now because I was smart, I didn't know that you are supposed to ask for help or was even given the chance to ask for help whenever I was lagging behind. Everybody had the same response to my struggles- you are smart, you can do this, this is easy, it shouldn't even be a problem for you. What that did to me was that I started ignoring the things that made me feel dumb, because being smart was the only thing I was! That's the only good thing about me. So when senior year exams rolled in, guess who almost failed in mathematics and got their gpa down? Me! Cuz I didn't know how to ask for help. Neither did I know that you are supposed to be put in hard work to achieve good grades. Cuz in my mind, I was smart so good grades should come easy right? NO. If only someone had given me compliments on working hard, I would have developed the work ethic required to deal with the real world and difficult things. I was so used to being praised on how innately smart I was, that I never developed the work ethics and skillset required to deal with things that I am not good at

@@Sarcaustik ohh reallyyy. you really think the staffs never intefered with what they did ? just before the show was criticized because a script for their show was exposed when they show a picture at the kitchen of hammington family but later they deleted it and upload a new one by blurring the paper and then just deleted it. and there was also a time when the twins found a cart by accident but somehow there is already camera attached to the carts. but nevertheless i genuinely love the show tho i know they staff may stage some scenes and intefere with some thingd

i truly believe that Hao’s intelligence is in part due to his exposure to music. a lot of children grow up listening to different songs, but i feel like his engagement with instruments and the fact that his father is a rapper does so much to his cognitive development
