That acceleration was something else. I remember her 3rd to Gammalite and Popular Alm in Inter Dominion Final held in Addington, I think. Took 2 absolute greats to beat her.
Hi Mark. Her 3rd behind Gammalite and Popular Alm was the in the 1983 final at Alexandra Park which I have also uploaded to UA-cam. Anything less than a win on the 3rd night would have seen her miss the final, so if you want to see something special, have a look for the 9th Pacing Heat of the 1983 series which I have also uploaded. In fact, I have uploaded that Interdominion series. I was at Globe Derby Park in Adelaide for the 1984 series and have uploaded all those races too - Gammalite successfully defended his title from 1983.
I actually got the privilege to sit behind her once in fast work. When I worked for Roy Purdon way back in the eighties. I took Mister Spyro down for the Wellington Cup. We stayed off site at Otaki Jim Stormont was staying there too with Delightful Lady looking after her. He didn’t won’t to take her out this day , so asked me if I would take her out for him. I gladly did.

One of her great wins was in the 9th heat of the 1983 Interdominions at Alexandra Park when she needed to win to make the final and ran down Gammalite in a home straight duel. The crowd went nuts. Lynette Devine I sat behind her once in training. I was away with our horse Mister Spyro on a tilt at the Wellington Cup and staying at Otaki racetrack. Jim Stormont was there with her too and had no one to train her. So he asked me and I took her out and trained her for him. She was a lazy ole thing.
@@bryancalder551 Lord Module and Young Quinn never raced in the same NZ Cup. You'd have to tell me what race you meant. Perhaps I should have been clearer.
@@bryancalder551 Young Quinn was in the US until the very end and he was 10. Locarno had a truly great sprint so was a hell of a miler. But the field in the 1979 NZ Cup was hardly vintage.
