You asked why I bought the Pelican catch instead of the JohnnyBass? Im a older guy and have to handle my kayak myself. I have no plans of using a motor, and was just looking for a kayak that was stable as my other kayaks cost me gear by flipping. You could mention using a J-hook to transport the pelican will not work, this hull is 18 inches I believe. Also how is each boat molded and what is the plus and minus of that process. You would not want to drag the pelican on the ground it is not made for that. Inside access to the pelican will be limited as the hull has foam installed inside for hull stability. To save someone trouble and money I will tell you a bigger trolling motor is not needed and you can save weight and money with a 30 pound thrust trolling motor. The outboard option is ok but Im not wanting to spend the extra cash for outboard and again I have to carry everything in a car and dont want a gas smell. I think a fully rigged JohnnyBass may be a great option but would say get a covered traler to tote it around in. With price of all that I could buy a proper fishing kayak like a Bonafide for KBF tournys. Adrian does great reviews and I will be following him, you definitely want to subscribe.
Thank you for helping us with all your informative videos. Is this an updated model or the same Johnny Bass from icast 2019 ? Not sure if you could help me or not but I'll give it a try I'm looking for a stable platform that will handle up to a 5 hp outboard, not a Honda 2.3 or the Torqeedo Ultralight 1103 When you're working a 4 mph current and a 4 mph headwind to be practical, Very few if any kayaks make the grade. The Blue Sky Boatworks angler 360 came close with it's 48 inch width but fell short on power. and Johnny Bass 100 at 45.5 width as you know still doesn't cut it, they promise us a few new models in January of this year but it looks like that never happened. I tried the Nucanoe Frontier at 41" width but sad to say it's just not safe. Have you ever accidentally dropped a Tiller extension handle while under full power from a trolling motor. The torque of the motor will pull you instantly in an uncontrollable spin and the tiller handle goes 90 degrees out from the motor... Believe me this is not much fun. Any suggestions would be appreciated, and again thank you for the wonderful videos.
This Jonny is 10 by 35, and doesn't take anything bigger than 2.5 Gas or 3 hp electric. The new Jonny 12 when it comes out can probably take 6hp or more we don't know much about it, have you thought of a sólo skiff?

I'd like to know how you transported both kayaks? in the bed of your truck or do you use a trailer? I have a 13' fishing kayak with a motor but considering the Johnny or Pelican 10' so I can just throw in the back of my SUV.
At what point in the video did you demonstrate how to and explain the importance of that curly red lanyard attached to the gas engine? The most important aspects of power boating are PFD use and the kill switch.
Before you use any powered vessel, read the manual safety tips, do you also want me to explain that eating raw meat is bad for you or that you need to always watch your hands before eating?
@@AliexFolgueira Smart asses get less subs. And respect. I made my living on the water 300 + days a year as a younger man. I have witnessed and helped the DNR pull victims from the water for injuries that would not have happend if the lanyard had been attached properly.

I went with the power catch 100 by Pelican. But motor pods with gps centering may be the future of boats and fishing kayaks. Would suggest wheel for transport and no one makes trailers for these wonderful kayaks. Since most will transport these kayaks on top of their car you have way to many options that need to be removed before transport. In my state all boats that are ten feet long you have to register it, that is a process during these times. The pelican I own is 9foot 9 inches skirting that law. Another option is a Bonafide fishing kayak if you have the money.
Would be nice if they come out with a option that doesnt have the central console hole, there are some of us who dont like trolley motors, and in the video where you put the 6hp engine a lot of water entered through the central console area, hope they take this opinion into consideration
Do these use the FeelFree proprietary track system instead of the yak attack/Scotty tracks that everyone else uses? If so, do you still need an adapter to run standard yak attack accessories?
Aliex Folgueira seems like a no brainer to use the standard track and to ditch the unitrack system. It adds an extra level of annoyance for no reason I think.
Only thing missing is a remote throttle. It could be done electronic style with a servo. While we're at it a remote shift as well. I'm getting this boat.
I know it probably doesn’t matter but I think it would be more comfortable if you used your other hand to control the boat motor instead of reaching back on an angle you can just reach straight back I believe with your left hand and you sit more square in the boat just an observation I’m sure you figured it out later.
@@AliexFolgueira Dude. Here i am trying to think every safety scenario possible before I go out and you already did it. lol. Btw, I installed a Honda GX35 on my SS127.
