Thank you! That helps me motivate me to keep creating 😊 Oooh 4 hours is tough. You wouldn’t have much time in Römerberg probably an hourish. I think it depends on a few things like how long it takes you to get through immigration and customs (if applicable), what current security lines are like (last year Europe had some very intense security lines that were hours long), do you have to recheck bags, how far is your gate from luggage storage and public transportation, etc. In theory public transportation takes 30 mins so if it takes you 30 minutes to get to the train from the plane and then 30 minutes to get to Römerberg you have an hour in Römerberg and then 30 minutes back to the airport to be there 1.5 hours before your flight with a little wiggle room for any delays. In the end it depends on if it’s worth it to you for an hour and conditions at the airport on the day of your flights.
We arrived in T2 so we stored our luggage in T2 but since our flight on Lufthansa to Sardinia left from T1 we should have stored it in T1 since that’s where the train leaves from too. You’ll want to store your luggage in the terminal your next flight leaves from so you aren’t rushing to get your luggage and get to you gate for your flight.
Really cool! Was your layover like 6-8 hours? Did you go straight from the cathedral to the airport? Sometimes it's hard to gauge if you have enough time to get in and out of the airport to the city. Storing your luggage at the airport is a really good tip!
Our layover was 6 hours and we spent a little around 2 and a half hours in the city center. We finished at the cathedral but it’s right next to the metro stop so you could start there or at Römerberg.
That depends on what country you are from. If you’re from the US you do not need a visa. An e-visa called ETIAS will be required in the future but not until 2025.

We prefer to use a credit card with no foreign transaction fees, but you should be able to pay with euro cash too. No US dollars though. For both fares and food. 3. We had no problems speaking English but worst case you can always just point at the food you want and signal how many tickets with your fingers. 4. As a US citizen you do not need a visa to visit any countries in the European Union including Germany, but starting sometime in 2024 (no official date yet) visitors from the US will need an online approval called ETIAS. There is still some time before that comes into affect next year.
