Barbara might have unknowingly made the most intelligent joke ever at 7:33 when she asked if black holes waxed. There is this theorem in physics called the "no hair theorem" which helps describe black holes.
+Drew Barber youtube red has a free month subscription I got it for lazer team then realized how great no ads are and I'm a little sad I'm going to have to cancel it at the end of feb. give it a shot.
+MrHeart12 i'm afraid if I try the free trial I won't have it in me to unsubscribe. and if you have enough $10-$15 subscriptions they really start to add up. thanks for the tip though.
yeah theat plus hulu plus Netflix and whatever else you got will start to add up to normal cable haha. but if you ever find the strength take it from me its a good month
+jon b I'm a sponsor as well and it's pretty good you can watch it all live and you get a post show podcast when it's released and you get all their videos a day early as well as a new podcast called the animecast
All of science was made up lol, Thats basically how science works. They have a question they come up with a theory, they create a hypothesis then they create an experiment and try and prove it. (Or they have a theory and wait 100 years for the experiment to happen and do exactly what your hypothesis said and thus basically prove your theory, like Einstein.)
+DDnufcGamer Your terms seem slightly confused. Hypothesis = educated guess Theory = putting puzzle pieces together A hypothesis is an educated guess or prediction that is made based on limited evidence that is used as the basis for further investigation. A theory is a description (or in the context of physics, a mathematical framework) of a process based on basic postulates and axioms that can make testable predictions.
+Connor B (Connor12123) I thought a science theory is basically means it was real... hypothesis is an experiment i agree with DDG. Because in georgraphy you had hypothesis to see if the sea was killing the shore.
Look, I love it when the RT podcast discusses science as much as the next guy. But it is soooooooooo aggravating when you know the answer to the questions they're trying to answer. Like Gavin's time ripple theory. He is right, but the difference of time is so small (.000000000000somthingidontremember) that it doesn't make a difference in every day life. But it can effect a laser being shot through a 2 mile tube, which is how they measure gravitational waves.
+xXAlexBulletKillXx I love when people think they know the answers to the topics that RT blunders through, but then when they start to provide information about the topic, they themselves are wrong. First, the lasers used in LIGO travel along a 4 km path, not 2 mi, and they travel this path 75 times before being observed. Second, the apparatus used in the LIGO experiment is called an interferometer and it measured the gravitational waves due to either a lengthening or shortening of the path length that the beams travel. It measured a change on the order of one-thousandth of the charge diameter of a proton (10^(-15) m), which is about 10^(-18) m, not "(.000000000000somthingidontremember)". Third, while an observer experiencing this distortion of space-time would measure time differently than an observer who did not experience the distortion (as all relative motion does), it does not make that observer jump through time as Gavin suggested. Time, relative between observers, can run faster or slower, but it does not go backward, nor does it skip, although with the gravitational wave discovery, it looks like space-time wormholes are much more likely now (not that they weren't already likely seeing as Einstein's general theory of relativity predicts them).
+xXAlexBulletKillXx that's only using the knowledge humans know... it be like telling me in 1968 there will be these small pocket devices that go on this virtual window that can speak to someone across the earth in some other country. I be saying bullshit to that.
***** I mean, I am currently going to school for programming physics engines and I'm about to transfer to a physics degree, so I would consider myself to be a nerd.
Well I get it, but it's not really sexual for me. Sometimes I just get it when in tired and in a room when people are talking. I don't ever get sexual pleasure from it, personally...
Burnie this is the answer to the political question you had: Bernie Sanders won New Hampshire 62% to 30%. That meant he got 15 Delegates to Hillary's 9 or so. The way CNN and other tv programs reported it was disingenuous because they added in the "Superdelegates" which shouldn't be factored in until the end of the primaries because they can change at any point. Delegates are chosen based on caucus and primary results. Superdelegates are entire delegate points given to Democratic Governors, Senators, DNC members, and other people in good standing with the Democratic Party. These people can choose whomever they want to give their delegate to right now but it is just a verbal commitment at the moment. Hillary currently has nearly all of the verbal commitments because they tend to be establishment types and Bernie is seen as an "outsider." One thing to keep in mind is that these Superdelegates can change who they support at any time before June. In 2008 most of the Superdelegates were for Hillary as well. Once they started seeing Obama was going to take it they all switched. Like I said, disingenuous for CNN and others to factor in Superdelegates at this time. If you look at the delegate count, right now (Iowa and New Hampshire) it is 36-32 Sanders. However when you factor in Superdelegates that have verbally committed so far it is 44-394 Clinton. Pay no attention to that right now. Those won't come into play until late spring/early summer. In my opinion it is a severally undemocratic system that, ironically, only the Democratic Party uses. I'm not worrying too much though. If the Superdelegates voted against the will of the delegates, and changed the winner, there would be violence and outrage. They wouldn't dare. I just wish the worthless tv news would quit reporting it that way. Just fyi they love the Clintons and hate Bernie. Bernie supporters have had to fight their biased reporting nonstop from day 1. Sorry for the lengthy response! I hope this helps!
Déjà vu hit me super hard when Gus was telling that first story. I swear I've heard him tell it before but that's impossible and it's blowing my mind. Have I traveled through time? Is this reality just a shadow, a splinter of the real reality?
35:32 oh Barbra... quit munching the carpet you carpet muncher! wait, that doesnt mean what I think it means? *EDIT* Damn it I unpaused it and she immediately made that joke, of course she did, shes Barbra
glad gus keeps shutting burnie up. his opinions are so disconnected from the fanbase. That or he's milder/not pushing shitty tech this podcast. I guess im just bitter EDIT: it's because he's acting like old RT burnie and not senile dad burnie. that's why.
+GeeseAreScary yeah it is because people, especially youtube viewers, think they have to direct these videos from the comment section and point out how wrong they are about everything because a comedy podcast has to be 100% accurate
Burnie constantly says things as if they're facts the whole time either talking out of his ass or having an opinion that no one shares (something he's claimed on more than one occasion that he has a pet peeve about) and it's often an opinion criticizing other people. Like the Deadpool thing, the reason people are saying kids shouldn't see the movie is because of people demanding the movie be changed to suit their demands to let their kids see it even though it wasn't made for kids.
Saw one of those solar plants on a tour for a school trip, and some installations use a special molten salt because the salt looses heat very slowly. Therefore the power plant can keep power going at night. Also the mirrors get hot enough to evaporate a bug instantly. It was kind of morbid seeing just little puffs of smoke go off as bugs flew in front of the mirror.
At about 10:30, they started to talk about how space expands faster than light. I does this by a loophole in 'NOTHING is faster than the speed of light.' Well, this is true, but empty space-truly empty- IS nothing, therefore it can expand faster than light.
@12:29 Gav says that time travel won't be possible ever because someone would come back and tell us about it. That's the beauty Gav, time travel is possible, yet only forward in time. You cannot go backward in time, only forward at different rates
So I just watched Lazer Team with my free trial of UA-cam Red and the movie was just amazing. I'm definitely going to recommend it to everyone. So what I am saying is I just like to thank everybody at Achievement Hunter and everybody they teamed up with to make this movie and definitely a special thanks to all the backers who made this movie possible. Thank You
Im not sure if this will be seen but a ELI5 of Solar Thermal is like this: -Mirrors reflect the heat towards the center tower -The tower contains the water which will then turn into steam -that steam is used to spin turbines -those turbines turn generators -generators create electricity people would do this instead oh photovoltaic solar ( what you see on peoples roofs) instead if you know the area you plan to install has more thermal energy than Irradiance.
"lights the fastest thing" I know it's Gavin that said this but on a serious note, why is it so hard for people to understand that there can exist speed faster then light. I think there's actually a video out there explaining that a shadow can theoretically move faster then the speed of light.
The inside of the thermal generator thingy is a big block of solid salt that when it gets hot enough melts and that gives off huge amounts of energy. Like so they can see
The solar thing has two main names: a solar power tower(sorta obvious) and Heliostat. Concentrated solar thermal is a category that also includes things like power troughs. They use different stuff like molten salt in the towers and oil in the troughs because they hold heat really well.

41:04 cracked me up so hard Gus being a Dad!
Oh my god Gavin trying to talk about black holes is the greatest thing ever.
*Trying* being the most important word here.
i keep falling asleep while watching it. what is the time
Gus' "Barbara, don't do that." Was so shockingly soft, yet still commanding.
Especially for Gus
Time stamp?
+Glowstone Man after 41:00

"the gunfire kept us warm at night"

"Barbara Jew Dunkelman. Nailed it." - that killed me. Oh my lord, I've been laughing so much!
I think that may have been my favorite part of this podcast. So funny!
Osama Tameez Same here!
lmao can you give me a time on that one
Cam Dude 42:07
Can we make a new version of An Idiot Abroad with Gavin? Or just have a full show explaining Science to him?
+Andreas Adekoya He's average but in the field he's interested. Deal with it.
Have you ever seen Educating Joey Essex? That's basically what you described
insertnamehere Christ, now that I think about it...

Gavin: has anyone ever made up science but it be real?Me: ALL OF STAR TREK
STAR TREK YES PLEASE
And submarines
All of science was made up lol, Thats basically how science works. They have a question they come up with a theory, they create a hypothesis then they create an experiment and try and prove it. Hypothesis = educated guess
Theory = putting puzzle pieces together
A hypothesis is an educated guess or prediction that is made based on limited evidence that is used as the basis for further investigation.
The stars start dying one by one and in the end, it's Gus sittin alone in his comfy chair, reminiscing everything he has hated over the years.
Barbara wedges herself?
Highlight of the podcast ^^

Oh my Christ! Please please please do an an animated adventure of the TV argument. Solid. Comedy. GOLD.
6:30 COME ON that was a quality Barb joke.
Burnies Television conversation was on of the best for a long time

Nerd
+xXAlexBulletKillXx I think they just need a resident science teacher/nerd on staff to answer the questions they have.
+xXAlexBulletKillXx
I love when people think they know the answers to the topics that RT blunders through, but then when they start to provide information about the topic, they themselves are wrong.

i love this podcast, can't remember a time without it, I don't envision one in the future.
I logged in just in time!! Woot
I got these new headphones and I'm so glad Barbara did the ASMR thingy. Sounded so amazing.
Gavin's been ready for quarantine
20:32 defining quote #1 of the Podcast: "The gunfire kept us warm."

At around 17 minutes he did

+AEI2000 goddam that's stone cold

This podcast always makes my hardest day of classes a little better.
Next week it should be: "Welcome to the RT Podcast with Raul, David, Julie, Justin and Raul."
6:09 Barbara smoothly wipes nose snot on a couch pillow, while staring down an aloof Bernie. Funniest thing ive seen the whole podcast.
"I was carpet munching" - Barbara 35:40 o.O Nice?
I must say, going to see Deadpool on Monday and having a Lazer Team trailer pop up in the middle of the previews was pretty awesome.
Does the video reset but the audio continue for any else? Cause this happens every time I try to watch past the hour mark.
+The best there is nope
It is literally one of the most annoying things ever 😡

+Josh Callejas People are stupid when they think ASMR is just sexy whispering.
Lol @all the ASMR nerds getting butthurt. IT'S A JOKE.
+Brian Browning it's 2016 Brian, you don't have to be so closeted about your kink 😘
Still don't know why people call it ASMR. It's called whispering.
Don’t know why this was recommended to me after so long but I am glad it was. Miss the good ole days.
Burnie's socks make it look like he has burned feet with blue sandals on

God I really do love these guys. They are absolutely fantastic, seriously you guys are the best. Can't wait to watch podcast 1000 :P
I used to love watching these podcasts now UA-cam has put adds in every video over 10 minutes because of UA-cam red
They've done that for a while
Heh but it just recently been annoying cause I've just started rewatching the older podcasts
+Dom P do you have an iPhone? I usually just listen to the real old ones on the podcast app, no adds

I like that Gavin and Gus are having to explain how TVs work to Burnie
wOw, is this what early feels like?
my favorite podcast crew is back for more shenanigans
I feel like Gavin knows a lot but sucks at articulating any of it.

Sweet
47:30 My video started buffering at exactly the right moment to see that.
babs: I'm wearing me undies
me: I don't believe you
ok you give Gavin Free, a scientist role in immersion and he comes out with one of the smartest comments I have ever heard him say
I dont know why, and I know this sounds weird, but Barbara's knockers look bigger in that shirt :D
I really like it when they talk about science related topics! Like gravitational waves.
35:32 oh Barbra... quit munching the carpet you carpet muncher!
wait, that doesnt mean what I think it means?
*EDIT* Damn it I unpaused it and she immediately made that joke, of course she did, shes Barbra
That TV conversation is one of the best things ive listened to
A theory never "becomes" a law; they're two completely separate things. At least they know that they're bad with science...
I love how they say "Not my cup of tea" about Pride and Prejudice, it was the exact words I used when I went to watch P&P&Z.
Man barbara has some nice legs. damn shes great.
+NewfieMan709 True XD
Science Podcast 363. Thank you guys

That or he's milder/not pushing shitty tech this podcast. I guess im just bitter

+Damn Vox So his opinions aren't the same of those of the fan base, and that's a negative thing?
+GeeseAreScary I mean... They're opinions so it shouldn't matter?

Spent the first ten minutes tabbed over into google maps looking at Goodsprings, Primm, Nelson, and other New Vegas landmarks. Thanks, Gus.
Gus' shower story has to be the next RTAA!! I've got tears in my eyes from laughing so hard!
The TV hole discussion. Loving it.
I love how the rt podcast makes me feel smarter than I know I am.

I like how 7:00 the camera crew gave up and just left it on the wide.
This podcast was really good! I'm not sure what made it different but it was :)
Gavin! Scientific Theory is basically "I think this is a thing", you test it, and sometimes you can then go "oh, okay, I'm right".
I died at "BJ Dunklefuck" x'D
24:30 with them freezing my favorite part 👌🏾
Nice hat Burnie, my dads best friend owns Home Slice and his brother lives in Austin too they are both super nice guys.

-Mirrors reflect the heat towards the center tower

people would do this instead oh photovoltaic solar ( what you see on peoples roofs) instead if you know the area you plan to install has more thermal energy than Irradiance.
I see a Gus, gav, barb, Burn.... This is going to be a good podcast.
Real talk, you guys should do something for 365

Guys please. Set the speed to 0.5 and watch starting at 24:31. I know it's dumb but I'm cracking up over here.
This was uploaded on my B-Day!!!!!
